Huberman crossing-over to fitness content is my favorite YT thing right now.
Same lol
I think this is the pinnacle. Love it!
He is a genetic freak. If he trained seriously he would be jacked out of krypton.
@@mr.almezeini647 He's got all the neuro knowledge haha. Strongest mind-muscle connection known to man😂
Hmmm out of his scope of practice clearly. His podcast where he outlined his workout routine clearly indicated he has a steep learning curve. Its pretentious of Hubes to infer he's an expert in the field of fitness. Outside his scope of expertise
I don't know if Mark ever gets tired of teaching the basics on the main lifts but I never get tired of watching him.
Thanks for the video I tried today during my workout used less weight but what a difference no shoulder pain Thanks again
I like the fact that he does this! I've been watching and lifting for over a decade, but I still love these videos. Often, as he picks things up from other people he's talked to, and as he learns, he adds them to these videos, and revisiting these basics seem like a good way to learn new things, or remind yourself of old queues
I concur !
I haven't watched much anime, but this exemplifies the "greatest crossover in anime" phrase. I love Mark's content and have watched Dr. Huberman's videos since finding out about him. This is awesome
I doubled my reps today because of the advice from this. Thank you!
wow that's excellent
i hope your initial number wasnt 0
@@NaMe-rf8pg If it was...then what?
@@low-budgefudge2164 if it is...then it is
@@NaMe-rf8pg Why were you hoping it wasn't 0 though, their starting point doesn't matter. Just how this conversation doesn't matter and how my reply doesn't matter.. neither does yours...this is going no where 💀😳
The Hulk before he became the hulk.
Much love to Andrew Huberman. Huge fan of all his work on neuroscience
😂
Thanks Mark. As a lifter of 32 years myself I learned a lot from this. You can never stop learning!
I love one of the tips Mark gave us not too long ago. He said that when you are pushing the bar up and it starts feeling heavy, squeeze the bar and turn the wrists like a motorcycle throttle. I have tried this many times and it works like magic.
Hmm, interesting.
I hadn’t heard that before, but makes sense now that I simulate the movement.
Immediately felt more lat engagement.
Imagine being surrounded by these guys. The amount of knowledge you’ll pick up would be insane.
I’m 43 and have been working out as an athlete since I was 14- 15yrs old. This rowing cue and explanation is the best I’ve seen! Excellent job!
Always thought Huberman's bench is around 120-140kg, judging by the looks of his upper body. So, I was extremely surprised when he said that he doesn't train his shoulder-level muscles. Either he's lying about it or he's got quite a bit of potential for growth there!
I mean really? He NEVER trained his chest are at ALL ? No pushups ? Cant believe it or he has some very good genes
I bet you he does all sorts of calisentics and push-ups, he just doesn’t train chest
@@rktsnail I bet he does :) Push-ups, however, train exactly the shoulder-level muscles. chest included. OK, I'm not trying to bring an argument here, just saying I was surprised to hear that from him.
Well maybe his claims are based on a lack of knowledge which exercise works which muscles
@@henryhorse4876 I doubt so, this is Andrew Huberman we’re talking about
Hurberman is so full of it
I’ve been working out 37 YEARS, yes, 37 and never had anyone teach me how to bench. I had shoulder issues fairly consistently. After watching this video i rolled my shoulders down and back. I was amazed at the difference. Shoulders felt so much more stable! Thank you for this!
Indian Clubs are great for shoulder strength too! Check em out
So used to Huberman's podcast if feels weird to see him with you.
I found this very informative. Thanks for getting the great Huberman to assist in your demonstration. My two fav things - fitness and Huberman!
lifted for over 30 years, best ever instructions I have seen on how to setup for barbell bench!!
I love how they just completely disregard Andrew Huberman telling them he almost died.. in his own lab.. during an experiment.
i know lol. not something you brush past.
It seems like there’s a social disjunct between them. Of course there’s a huge ton of respect they have for one another professionally etc. From my experience being more akin to huberman, they are just cut from different cloths. Not a negative thing.
Mark was about to get deeper but the black guy cut them short lol
The little white guy talks too much
Because this Andrew huberman is a faker can't even do a bench press
Squeezing the weight. One of the simplest, most underrated piece of advice I've ever been given.
i like this
Smelly still has it when it comes to instructionals!
I'd love to see more collabs between the Slingshot crew and EliteFTS. Two titans of knowledge.
I wish more gyms had those competition style bench widths, my gym's bench's are so narrow it's like doing a balancing act getting into position!
Great information, I keep watching and rewatching countless videos on form and grinding it into my memory, keep getting better and better with every training day by getting to put such in practice!
I've watched a lot of Dr. Huberman's videos and I think this is the first time I've seen it but...He's got the fresh fade! 🔥
I feel like every time I see Mark he looks completely different. Like a completely different body type and everything
6:04 - that dude is NOT natural lmaooo.
I'm so tired of guys who don't know their way around the gym praising someone for being natural. But it will never end... He's not natural. Mark, good job focusing on the hard work and not talking about the gear. You still need the hard work regardless of the "supplements".
He is natty like the rock is natty!
Dude Huberman is an expert on testosterone. He knows about the body lol he's a neuroscientist
@@stevend481 Then you believe Nsina is natural? Are you being sarcastic? I can't tell.
@@Bob-vg5vv i dont think hes natural but Huberman isnt just some ordinary guy...
@@stevend481 Huberman is far too friendly to be calling people out but that black guy is 100% not natural.
a must watch for every grammar school, high school, college athlete. No one is really taught the basics of lifting.
Crazy to think Andrew doesn’t train upper body like everyone else because when I first watched him on the Joe Rogan podcast I figured he was into typical bodybuilding training. He looks jacked!
Are you blind. Not one ounce of muscle on his body can't even bench press
@@arronbatchvarov5035 Lighten up boss.
@@jodrizzly1766 you straigh up being lied to by this Andrew scientist , do you not care
@@arronbatchvarov5035 how is he lying?
He's lying he obviously does loo
Andrew Huberman hast the perfect frame for lifting... He is already huge and wide.
All respect to Andrew Huberman, but he has definitely benched before. His body mechanics while benching indicate past experience. He also let a few things slip in conversation and then pulled it back. He purposely dialed himself back when doing those sets and feigned ignorance a few times in conversation. He probably did not want to be harshly judged by Mark and the crew so he set low expectations. You can tell he cares allot about having Mark's respect as it is mutual.
He is still a wealth of knowledge to the point that I have literally gorged on every single interview he has ever done on other people's channels. That's hundreds of hours listening while doing chores. Changed the way I approach life for sure.
Just to play devil's advocate, maybe he's done a lot of work with free weights and/or chest press machines?
Edit: Just saw that part at the beginning of the video where he specifically says he doesn't do dumbbell benching...
Why waste a learning opportunity ? he played it right and gave this guys a chance to shine .
He definitely played it right
i think marks mustache can bench more than me
such a good overall bench tutorial, covered everything. really great video mark
We need more training Huberman. This was great!
This is like a crossover episode for me. I first saw Andrew on Lex.
Any other AI/Robotics Gym Bros?
I think it would be a mischaracterization to call Andrew an AI/robotics guy. While he may be interested in those things, he really should be recognized as a neuroscientist. That's why he has a position at Stanford.
@@sm-qw9mj I’m an AI/Robotics Gymbro. That’s why I was watching Lex and this channel.
Lex is the man, he had Chris Duffin a few weeks ago
Meee
@@sm-qw9mj I think the comment is referring to lex. Who introduced Huberman to ai/robotics bros
A Barber here from Australia. Been doing strength training ever since I started my career (4 years in Jan ‘22) to prolong it and generally feel better.
This short video has saved my shoulders for the next 20+ years. Super humbling stuff.
Thank you 🙏
1st time i learned about mark bell was about 12 ish years ago from a movie called bigger stronger faster. fast forward to today and hes blown up! thats awesome to see! I like the channel and podcast
At 4:33 the best way I’ve comprehended what he’s talking about it trying to make your shoulder blades touch each other
'I almost died during an experiment from my lab we could talk about'
'should we do a slight unrack here?'
This really bugged me, who knows when we’ll hear the story 😩
@@bladenovak it might be the the diving story he told on the rich roll pod
@@blackbaseballfield1 thanks man! will check it out
33:02 Andrew's hiding some sleeve tats? That would be crazy to see
He does, two full sleeves. Admitted it on Tim Ferris's podcast.
Old school vibes great video!! Nysima great progress man been watching for years!!
Love this type of content. Thank you for sharing
What level of explanation was that ...mark is just meant for it .Thanks Mark.
That's quite the explanation there sir! Thanks for that. What an awesome group of people.
One of the best benching videos I've seen.
A hip flexor release prior to this would be healthy for your lumbar Dr. Hubermann. I am concerned your tight hips are going to cause shear, especially after a day of hill running. Tight Rec. Fem, hip flexors and possibly inhibited glutes.
Your L5/S1 might be under excess shear and/or compressive load.
I love your work, thank you for bringing sensible information to the health and fitness world!
Back here after a while. What happened to the real Mark Bell. This dude is someone else.
Always good teachings from Smelly and love the mustache!
Great overview guys! Thank you so much for sharing this.
If you titled this “Andrew Huberman has never done a bench press?”, you would’ve gotten way more views
What amazed me was how a neuroscientist with a phd thought that the black guy was natural, that's going to be my biggest confidence boost this year when it comes to finishing my degree, if someone can think that and have a phd, wow that's really opened doors for me.
@@byrospyro4432 I mean, he’s just one of the most knowledgeable people alive in his specialised field of neuroscience and ophthalmology… not god.
God I appreciate this video so much. Amazing people, amazing instructions and amazing discussion.
I’m living for this content 😍😍😍
This is very informative and I would think this would help a lot of people. I see so many people benching wrong in the gym.
love the humility, great work
More Huberman 👍
Cool video, the dynamic, the knowledge the camaraderie.
A lot of golden advice here. Appreciated.
Me at 29 realizing my high school teacher gave me wrong benching information lol
I learn more in this 36 minute video then the last year and a half. Wow! Thanks guys.
Great instruction, thanks!
This is fucking awesome. :-) Thanks for doing this. Tbh, I thought Dr. Huberman worked out for sure. I guess he's just a naturally big dude.
Squeezing my shoulder blades down and into the bench was the thing that improved my bench the most
Way to go, Huberman! Excellent tutorial, too. I definitely learned some stuff. Thank you!
Imagine how much Huberman & Jeff Nippard could nerd-out together! ❤️😅
Wow this video is fantastic. I am also completely blown away that this dude is natty, what a BEAST!
Mark is an excellent instructor ! Wow
This 101 makes me wanna go to the gym and bench 🙂
as someone who thought he was an expert-- thank you this is humbling
Natural...
There are a ton of bad weight lifting videos out there. But this is a great one. I get a little bit sad thinking about how much bad technique is being taught and hurting people's bodies
As a long armed dude myself with an a/c injury, I also favor a mid/wide grip. Otherwise, the pain is intense after bench in my biceps and shoulders if I don't get my grip in the right place and my body position, if the bar is to high up my chest it inflames my shoulders/biceps.
I've been working out 40 years and learned how to bench press today. Holy smokes
Huberman is total stud.
As much as I respect mark, he made the bench press seem like building a rocket.
It can be explained in 2 minutes.
Elbows in, shoulders retracted, controlled negative, take the bar to your midline and press up
Perfect explanation Mark! Thanks for this
bout to be Andrew Hugerman out here soon.
19:38 my man has the MGS codex call as his ringtone
Missed these videos!
Trensima lookin juicy
How they don't think that guys isn't on steroids is mad
6:14 is the guy claiming natty or did I imagine that
Don't underestimate superior african genetics
@@stickmanx1418 He's not natural.
@@stickmanx1418 lol bro what
Mark, Andrew and Doug Brignole needs to do a seminar.
I've seen a guy that is in the range of world record benchpress kinda start a motion from the heels through the body before each rep. Check out videos of Julius Maddox. It is like there is some form of kick from the ground. I've tried to incorporate this in my benchpress in the recent years, so I thought I'd mention it.
I like simma but he ain’t natural… sorry dude… been around this game way to long!
ik i was legit laughin when they said that
They have legit joked and laughed about him taking anabolics in one episode, now claiming lifetime natty?? come on
One more fake natty going to launch his TH-cam channel over a lie.
They must be trolling Huberman
I’m not only sure,I’m beyond 100% sure he’s using, like I said been at this game 40+ yrs . Seen many many body builders and many so called nattys . For instance, Skip La Cure claimed he was a natty for years , but was called out and proven false and he wasn’t as big. Let’s stop the BS and call it like it is.
Highly powerful stache, glad you shaved it really. It was making me go back through puberty and I just can't have that.
Excellent!
The doc seems like he could benefit substantially from some hip stretch routines. Had some pretty bad “back” issues before I started doing them, myself.
Nsima is natural? I mean I don’t think he’d lie considering how open Mark is about being enhanced, I just assumed he was open about it because of how crazy his physique is. Natty or not, good for him.
I like this collaboration.
not sure if its just me, but huberman is a pretty decent sized dude to start with
at around 8:50 in this video Huberman predicts the future of Mark running marathons lol
I love watching these how to videos from Mark. Did you say you did a deadlift one?
I don’t understand why people are always so determined that you need to have your scaps locked down and back for bench press like they’ve shown here too. When we row, we make a specific point of mobilising the scaps so that we go through full scapular retraction and protraction so that we fully work the traps. By not protracting the scaps at the top of your bench, surely you’re just skipping out on all potential to work your serratus anterior muscles along with the pecs, which not only pop and look good in leaner physiques, but surely would help to counter imbalances that would happen from only working scaps in the retraction direction?
I like watching Huberman do shit like this rather than the interviews. Just to see his take on actual activity.
super work!
Huberman is so in rn
Mark looks great now
Badass💪💪
I’ve always hated bench until this video
I am just here for Andrew
Smelly you look awesome with the new physique
Good stuff
