I love seeing Matt sit at the dinner table with his cap on. My husbands caps were on his head everywhere but church and the bed. That didn’t go over well with my dad when we were just dating, but after a while dad saw what a good man he was and the cap at the dinner table was no longer an issue. Your channel always brings up such good memories for me. I am reminded that whether you are from NC and I am in SoCalifornia , as my grandpa would say, “folks is folks.”

No matter what Tipper cooks, the way the green beans are prepared never fails to take my breath away. In NYC, green beans are always green and crisp. Only the Greeks and my Scots Irish father cooked them like Tipper. Old man has been gone 50 years. Just watching Tipper's family enjoying that recipe makes me smile. 💕 ♥️ 💜 💙

When you said Silver Queen corn, my eyes teared up. My mother froze bags and bags, and we feasted all year long. You cook the way my mother taught me, and she cooked the way her mother and grandmother taught her, just the way Grannie and Grannie Gazzie taught you. Your channel truly celebrates Appalachia the way so many of us experience life in Appalachia. Thank you so much.

This was absolutely wonderful. This reminds me of the times when all of us kids would come back home to visit my mom. She would have a feast of our favorite dishes of homegrown vegetables and meat that was either hunted for or raised. We looked forward to her peach cobbler and homemade ice cream. It's those types of memories that makes me appreciate good ole country living and family.

One year I harvested 409 cucumbers from my circle garden. It seemed that I was giving away cucumbers all summer.
I like to add 1/2 tsp. of baking powder to my 1 Cup Cobbler batter and pour it over the fruit. I've also used the juice from canned berries in place of the milk to make the batter purple.

Thank you for letting me see the creeks run. It’s hot down here in Florida. I just watched & remembered my days of sitting with my feet in the creek looking for crawdads. I reckon people call’em crawfish 🦞, but I wasn’t taught them fancy names, so crawdads it is 😂 May you stay Blessed ❤️🙏🏻😇❤️

I remember canning with my great grandmother all summer in her non-air conditioned home! It was a relief when night came and the temperatures fell into the 60’s (used to have those big swings from night to day when I was younger). Pickled beets were mya favorite to can. To this day I’ll buy enough beets to put up about 6 cans, I live in a big city now and it’s the way I keep in touch with the memories of home.

Growing up my mom would pick a warmish day in the spring, and reorganize the cellar so that the oldest was at the front of the selves. We also sprouted potatoes, a job I hated. She also when I was little made cobbler using pie crust. They were really rectangular pies I guess but we called it cobbler anyway.

Resembles what we had for supper. Country fried deer cube steak, home grown and canned green beans ,coleslaw and rice and gravy. I still have butternut squash but it didn’t make it to the table tonight. Good eating for sure. I make the same type of cobbler as well. My grandmother’s recipe, that recipe works for just about any fruit.

My Mom was not a great cook. Except she made fabulous pies. We never found many elderberries so she would mix them with fresh peaches. Also she hated berry seeds. She would run blackberries or raspberries thru a sieve and then put sliced apples in the pie with the strained berries. Its amazing. She was from hill country in Ohio. Never knew anyone else to do those things. Love the channel

Looked delicious!! That’s nice that you get together once a week for a meal. My daughters don’t live too far, but it’s not in the same area code, and across state lines, so we’re not able to get together as often with everyone’s busy schedules. It’s also still only 30 degrees and more snow coming twice this week, so we tend to do more family things in the Summer. That’s great that you all live close and see each other often.:) God Bless!!🙏🏼✨👍

Great video, enjoyed your chat about putting up your harvest 😊 I've been interested in canning for years but it just makes me too nervous to try it so I just wind up using the freezer for my small garden. Thank you Cheryl!! I use the open kettle method of canning them-which all experts will say is not safe 😀 But that's how Granny always canned hers and how I've canned mine for many years. Basically everything is piping hot-the blackberries with a little water and sugar if you want to add it, and the jars, lids, rings. As the jars cool they seal.

Saved this video to my fave recipes because I have a ton of frozen blackberries from back home (Vancouver island) and I was going to use them for a few dump cakes but this cobbler recipe seems so much easier..sometimes I mix a boxed lemon cake and our blackberries /raspberries and top with melted butter and cinnamon and it makes such a good cake,or get this…. Lemon blackberry cookies or scones ( biscuits) Wonderful video as usual Tipper ❤
