What a wonderful meal you’ve whipped up for your family. I’m a happy guy anytime I am fortunate enough to have fried fish, taters, hush puppies and coleslaw. Nothing says “country cooking” better than a meal like this one. Now, your also starting to enjoy the homegrown vegetables from your garden. I know that y’all are looking forward to a summer full of fresh produce being harvested. God is good and His blessings include good food for us to eat. I enjoyed this video, it made me me hungry for a meal like this. Thank you for sharing. - Tennessee Smoky
Growing up, my grandparents had 3 fishing ponds behind their house, in central North Carolina. Once a year, the fish became overcrowded, so they would use a huge net to seine the ponds. A huge cast iron stew pot was set over an open fire and filled with oil. They brought the fish in, cleaned them and fried them in that huge pot. We always had vegetables straight from the garden, corn, tomatoes, and I loved whole cucumbers, and ate them peel and all. It's been over 60 years and I remember it like it was yesterday. I love hush puppies, so that hush puppy cornbread is on the menu.
Looks like some fine dining there Miss Tipper. What a blessing to have each person at the table contribute to the meal. Not many families sit around the table together at suppertime anymore, y’all are truly blessed to do so. Thanks for sharing.
My big mama had an acre garden just outside of Fayetteville about 13 or 14 miles. She raised eight children, 22 grandchildren out of that garden. They raised their own meat and did not want for much even during the depression. It was a lot of love and good food in that little house. Probably why I love watching your channel. Our family was blended and full of music, gospel and lots of memories of fishing at the river and in the ponds and lakes. Great times
When I was a teen, my dad would fry us fish he caught, make salmon patties, and thick fried ham sandwiches. He also made the best chocolate malts. Fall and winter, every Sunday morning, mom made orange rolls for us kids. Before church she would stick a roast in the oven. Mom usually had a big pot of chili on the stove. Dad liked to cook. Mom loved to bake (cheesecakes, Pecan Tarts, Butter Horns, Cinnamon Rolls, etc.) She enjoyed making candies too. Especially at Christmas time. Divinity and fudge. My sister and I bake as well. I enjoy making breakfasts and soups. Sis enjoys canning.
Tipper and family…thank y’all for this video…my neighborhood here in Cleveland TN. used to have a fish fry after a good day on the water during the summer where all the fishermen and fisherwoman (my late wife Terri was always lucky with a rod and reel) would meet up at a neighbors house and cook up a feast (we also did ramps back when we were free to gather them)…I’m 70 now (a widower for 6 years) and your TH-cam content always takes me back to the good memories…may God continue to bless you and yours 🙏🙏🙏.
I just love being in the kitchen with family making home made non processed food like that. You cannot get any healthier or more delicious. No chemicals, good fresh wonderful nourishment and family to nourish your heart. Add The Lord in there and you got everything a soul needs other than water and a roof. Thank you for sharing. I want to move back home and be with my family.
I’m with you, Tipper! I’d rather have fish than steak, chicken, or any other meat on the planet especially if it’s fresh caught and fried up crisp. We fry our fish outside too, and always have slaw, some kind of potato, homemade tartar sauce, and sliced cucumbers & tomatoes in season. Can’t wait to try that hush puppy cornbread. A home cooked meal with family gathered around is a priceless treasure, providing memories that will last down through the generations. ❤❤
Just hearing you list the items you are preparing for supper makes my mouth water. You and your family are blessed by great food and love for each other.
I was hoping you would show us how you fillet your fish. Sure did look like a good meal. Always nice to see the family sitting around the table eating together.
I was going to add radish sandwiches to the list, but two people beat me to it. Radishes for breakfast on top of buttered toast. A little salt did to the radishes on the toast
Wow, we could smell the fish cooking down here in South Texas, and the cornbread looked really wonderful! The garden fresh vegetables looked sooooo good. A meal fit for the King! Thanks for sharing the video. We will try that cornbread here at our house! Have a great week! We love watching your videos, keep them coming. God Bless all of y’all!
I love to hear you talk about granny & sharing the old ways, y'all are such a blessing to have... thank you so very much!! God bless. I'm learning so much!!❤❤
I was cleaning trout at 8 years old. We camped all summer and lived off trout and catfish, fried potatoes, slaw and fried bread. My Dad did the filleting because I couldn’t do that. I was so proud at 10 I could clean a catfish. We had big fish fries at our house. Thanks for returning those memories to me. ♥️
Saw your video Q&A part 1 & learned that your girls are twins. I too am mother of twin girls. My best gift from God! Nearly 3 yrs ago, the younger one passed from heart attack in her sleep. That morning she was scheduled for heart cath by cardiologist but insurance denied procedure. God brought us thru the loss.
Wonderful memories of my dad catching, guttin’ and breadin’ (adding a bit of his Old Style 🍺 to the batter😂)then cooking right there by the lake. I can still smell that deliciousness! Thank you for sharing this!
This is a portrait of a happy family. The fish fry looks delicious, Thank you for sharing the precious moment. Its these moment were I cherish the most. Love the video. As always, Sending prayers and blessings
Tipper, my Daddy would fish at Lake Sam Rayburn, not far from our house on El Camino Real, The King's Highway, and fillet up a lot of fish and make hush puppies!! It was amazing!! It was Crappie, which I loved. And I was never a bit picky, so I much enjoyed all the bounty!! Tonight watching you made me miss my dear DADDY. He's been with Jesus since 2009, but I figure he fishes with those guys now!
Yum and YUM again! The meal always tastes so much better when home grown or home caught. "Blessing's all mine and ten thousand beside....." The Lord is so good to His children.
Hi Tipper! It's a home grown supper! So special. I love thinking about in generations past everyone ate that way. Food they raised or hunted and how special it tastes. We always fished in the river around Fresno when I was growing up. We would bobber fish in still pools and catch blue gill and crappie. They were so delicious. I too cleaned my fair share. Karla in Cali.
I remember those Wesson oil measuring cups. I remember when you could get one if you bought the big bottle of Wesson oil it was attached to the bottle. Your supper looks delicious family time is the best😊❤️
What? 45 minutes ago and all these comments already? What a nice community I found! I think I would have mixed that salad with the slaw and chowed down.
Tripper, love sitting down with family at supper time. That's the way we always ate at home and those times get forgotten sometimes as we have raised our own families. I think that is a custom that should always be followed.
I love trout! Your dinner looks so delicious. I watched your Mac & cheese video and I am going to replicate your dinner tomorrow for my husband & myself. I watch your videos at night and my belly always wishes it had some of your delicious cooking. Thank you for sharing your wonderful family with us. ❤️

Yummy, yummy, yummy! I am more of a fish person too, Tipper. My father-in-law used to go deep-sea fishing sometimes and he caught a huge grouper one time, filleted it and we got three suppers that fed 6 people out of that thing. Sometimes we would go out in his boat in the river here and catch trout. He would make homemade hush puppies too and that was some good eaten! I love lemon juice on my fish and I like to dip them in Louisiana tartar sauce. So good! Y’all have a good week. Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida😎🦩🌞🦩😎

Maybe it's my Scandinavian heritage but, I could eat fish for breakfast. The plate of garden goodies was always there at our fish fry. We called it rabbit food. The potatoes are great like you fix them, Tipper. We sometimes shake some parmesan cheese on them. Slaw always is good at a fish fry. One thing that my granny always put in her "fish slaw" was yellow salad mustard. We're gonna have to try the hush-puppy corn bread. What a feast. Matt cooks and seasons food like I do. Loved this one, Tipper

Reminds me of fish fries at my grandparents house. My grandaddy was an expert fisherman. My favorite were and still are blue gills, but I do love trout. He would freeze extra ones in paper milk cartons. My grandma had an iron skillet that was only for cornbread, one time grandaddy fried fish in it, we thought WWIII was gonna break out 😂
Oh Yeah ... l forgot to say ... " Katie you look fantastic! Bravo 👏... on the weight lost... you are very much a beautiful young lady ... keep up the good work!
Aw man, I was hoping to see how you filleted the fish, Ms Tipper.😁 I haven't done it in a long time. The cornbread looks divine! Yes, what a feast. How sweet to be given a cabbage.😊 Blessings to you all. 💖🌻
My favorite way of trout and it is one of my favorite fish. I do broil it in the oven. And I pull the bone out if I have to cut it into and no bone left. My fillet it little tiny bit of butter and I used to do slivered almonds it is my favorite favorite way. I would not turn down here fried trout either not for a minute :-)
Just love your family conversation! You're truly a America Family! Love everything you made! I'm definitely going to hushpuppy my family! Blessings to you! Ohio 😊
Thank you, Tipper! Home grown and caught. I truly enjoyed how you made hushpuppy corn bread. I'll be sure to try that. We always roast our potatoes too. So easy and so good. Nothing like a fresh pie to end a family meal.
Nothin' better than eatin' fresh caught fish 🐟 I grew up eating them because my dad went fishin' about every Saturday. Whether it was fried bass or smoked mullet. Ya'lls fish fry brought back some fond memories.
Oh, my! I was telling my husband about you and your family, and he thinks you’re living the dream! I know you all work so hard to make your life the best it can be. I used to have one of those Wesson oil cups!
A fine meal. If I ha to choose Steak or fish It'd be fish. Grew up eating fish often. A year after my Daddy died we were eating fish he caught. Mama would put fish in the paper milk cartons cover the fish in water then freeze them. We had a big freezer. Mullet is my favorite. Rainbow trout is hard to beat though. Somehow fish from the mountains just taste cleaner, fresher. Thank for sharing this.❤

Thank you 😊
I love the idea of making hush puppy cornbread.
Thank for sharing this.❤
I love the hushpuppy cornbread recipe and can see many possible variations.

Well, as I was watching this video, I was eating a cucumber sandwich with green onions fresh from the Farmers Market this morning and then stopped at the blueberry farm for the first crop. Very sweet and big!!!
