Y’all are good people. It’s easy to see. If this crazy world had more Matt’s and Tipper’s, this world would be a much better place. Thank you for sharing!
I often notice how much he loves her. It’s so obvious. So nice to see. I had a wonderful husband like that and he’s been gone 10 years now. I was 45 at the time. I tell ya, you sure do notice little things. I often sit and eat the salad bar at the grocery store here and you can sit and look out the window and enjoy your lunch. I often notice older folks still holding hands, as they walk in… it’s nice to see.
I love all your vlogs, but I especially loved this one. It was really fun to learn more about the family. Heck, I feel like part of your family anyway. I think we kin from back in time anyhow. I think you and Matt are so cute and sweet together. I’ll take more of these vlogs any day, and I hope you write a book. I’ll grab it as soon as it’s published. ❤
I love how you both stopped to listen to the wind. It was a moment you both shared together in sweet contemplation. I too, live in gratitude. I've been in pain 24/7 for over 23 years now and if I didn't wake up counting my blessings... Thank you both for being a part of my peaceful moments. Sending loving thoughts to everyone.
You are a blessing to many people. Our faith is what we need on this earth. In the Bible , the Lord tells us how to live on this earth. He holds us in his hands. You are truly blessed.
I turned 70 this year and guess what? I feel 40 or so....I enjoy life, laugh daily, love the Lord and truly look forward to each day. Age isn't the issue. Loving the Lord and enjoying each day keeps a heart and mind young. Look forward to aging...it's a blessing many don't get to enjoy:)
Amen ma’am I’m 60 years old this month and my parents died in their mid and late 60’s and I think they were young and had a lot more life to live until they got sick but I thank the Lord for allowing me to have them as long as I did . And every year that I get older I thank God for every single day of my life no matter how many years, months or days that he gives me . I hear some people complain about the gray in their hair but I always tell them that I thank God for every one of mine .
Gratitude can be a core strength for all of us. We are all so blessed - to have a roof over our heads, a bed, electricity and food. God has blessed us so much. My pastor says gratitude is a decision. Thank you for reminding all of us of this basic truth! God bless you & Matt and all the family.
We are so blessed to have a bed , food electricity. I help a few homeless people almost daily. They are sleep deprived and no way for showers. Except get in small creek until law runs them off everywhere they go.Go without food a couple days at a time. No shelter home for them In a small town. 🙏
Such a wholesome conversation. The love of the Lord and the respect for each other and those around you shines like a beacon of goodness. I am a couple of decades older on a par with granny, but I am living Tipper's bucket list and do not even care to go to town four miles away, just stay in my yard and garden and sit on the porch.
So true they are just what you imagine nice people who are CONTENT would be like. So many people just want a lot of money and are NEVER CONTENT, never happy, do not enjoy working together, sweat anything just driven by GREED.
Tipper and Matt, you are both so easy to love. The more I hear about you and your thoughts on life in general and graditude in particular the more I realize why I'm drawn to watching your channel. You are very much down to earth but never boring. Good folks sharing your love of God and family and living a quiet life, my kind of people! Thank you.
My Great Grandma would only let anyone call her Mom. So she became known as Mom Garrison through the generations. When she was alive we had 5 living generations.
You both should try southern cucumber sandwiches. Recipe: Slice a ripe but young cucumber, and slice some onion. Place both in a mason jar with salt and pepper to taste. Cover with white, distilled vinegar. Leave overnight in refrigerator. When you’re ready for a sandwich, butter two slices of your favorite whole grain bread. Line with sliced cucumbers and onions from the mason jar. Eat as is or top with any other fresh garden veggie (aka tomatoes, Matt). Every time I eat sliced cucumbers, I think of my mother and her southern cucumber sandwiches. (And we’re all the same “level”) Thank you both for the glimpses of beautiful Appalachia. Blessings.
My mamaw always said, “you never grow old in your mind”. She would say, “In my mind I can get up and do anything. But my body won’t let me”. She was in her 80’s making these statements. She raised 10 kids.
My dad had bent fingers too (3 I think!) and he told me it came from the Vikings, but that would make sense for him as we are Shetlanders with Scandinavian roots. Loved the questions.
You two are so great together. Y'all are not old, Tipper is my daughter's age. I'm 73 years old. I still work 8n my garden, mow my own yard and weedeat it, climb on my roof to clean the gutters and remove limbs and leaves. The secret is staying busy!!
As a tree worker on break one day, I helped an 86-year-old lady with a scooter and an ankle brace take brown bags of lawn clutter to the curb. Long story short, she said she was doing the work that we were doing that day. She explained to me two weeks previous, that she got on a step ladder and cut her neighbors low hanging branch off for her with a f%£#¥£g chainsaw. 86 years old. Never use a chainsaw to cut the low hanging limbs, as a former tree worker, (never got qualified to be an arborist) that is a super dangerous!!!!!
The neighborhood where my dad’s side of the family lived was mostly filled with relatives. It was a wonderful way to grow up. Most of relatives are gone now, but the streets are still named after them. There was always something going on. Aunt Mildred let us make homemade pie crust and play dough. Uncle Oscar taught me all the names of the trees, flowers and birds. Aunt Lila made cookies and told stories. Uncle Jerry fixed clocks and Uncle Britt played us music. Grandma babysat us and taught me to sew and do embroidery. There was usually someone to amuse you or cousins to play games with you. Thank you sharing your lives with us. You feel like neighbors just next door.🤣. I wish the world could just slow down and talk like this together. Maybe we would understand each other better and love each other more. God bless.❤️
I love living in the mountains of North Carolina and can't imagine living anywhere else. But I too, love going the ocean. It is amazing how calming (and healing) the crashing of the waves can be. I always think of the verse Isaiah 40:12 “Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?"
What is wrong with eating cucumber sandwiches? They are delicious as are tomato sandwiches. Like Tipper, I, too, am mostly Scottish. Also Irish and English. Eating cucumber sandwiches is not a class thing, but a cultural thing. My family also always stuffed a chicken or turkey with Scottish dressing made with kidney suet, oats and onions.
2 things - Ingles is in Tennessee as well, and my daughter worked there part time during high school and college. Also , I love your advice on gratitude. My Dad's saying to teach that concept was "I complained because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet." He really did live that grateful life as well.
Oh my - you all are a blessing to your TH-cam community!! It’s impressive that you are able to take comments with proper perspective. I love your stories and memories about recipes and things in your garden. Just keep being yourselves and doing what you love 💕 Thank you!!
You and Matt could be my children since my girls are 56 and 52 now. I’m almost 75 and have no idea where all the years went. I’m just now starting to realize and feel I’m getting older. My hair is very gray now. What happened? Many of my friends have let their gray show as well and we’re all so pretty! During lockdown salon hair color became impossible. I felt so free not having to get my roots done!! It’s wonderful!
You two are still so young. 😊 I am 67, and my hubby is 76, and we feel like we did 40 years ago. I retired last year, and all I ever wanted to do was garden and preserve our bounty, and by God's grace, that's exactly what I am able to do. We have 5 acres and great neighbors, and every day is good. Thanks for sharing your story. God bless you and your family. ❤
I would much rather sit and watch you and Matt work in your garden or just sit and talk about your life than watch any of the garbage they put on tv these days. I am thankful I found your channel. Blessings to you and your wonderful family.
This was fun. It's nice hearing about your history. I had never noticed Matt's finger before. You are both so vibrant and loving life that you don't seem older. Practicing a gratitude mindset helps with the down times. Thank you Tipper and Matt for allowing us to become closer to y'all. We really appreciate it! Much love from Texas!
I'm sitting here watching and listening, identifying with so much you say...then I suddenly realize I am more than old enough to be YOUR mom! Yes indeed, our body will fail us, but that young spirit within just keeps going like the little bunny.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Me and Matt are close in age. Made my day a little better. I'm watching this in a hospital waiting room today. My wife judy had to have heart surgery today but she's stable and came through it good. Thank the lord. Take care.
You guys answering the questions was a real treat for me. Y'all answered several of the ones I would have ask. Matt laughing and cutting up is so nice to see. Y'all enjoying funny stories about each other is so sweet. I love cucumber sandwiches and tomato sandwiches. It is also nice to see that couples can still be in love no matter how long they have been together. Thank you guys for sharing your lives with us.
Hi Tiper & Matt. Loved this video. Talking of being content we have a saying in Judaism that goes like this, “Who is rich? He who is happy with his lot.” So yes, be happy with what you have. As your Pop said, it could always be worse.
Y’all are such a beautiful couple. You are each incredibly blessed to have each other. Thank you Tipper & Matt for your willingness to share your lives with all of us. God bless & keep you both. 😊❤😊❤😊🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
My boy/girl twin grandbabies have that crazy twin connection. Sometimes they don’t even have to say anything yet burst out into giggles simultaneously. 😂They’re 2 years old and sooooo much fun!! ❤❤
It’s so obvious how much y’all love each other. Best friends. My wife and I have the same easy relationship that y’all have. Tipper, you are right about the age comments. I think our souls and spirits are ageless. In my Mind I’m still in my twenties, but my body will be 68 in a few days. I wish y’all the best in whats ahead for this country. God bless.
I just adore you and Matt (and your entire extended family). I laughed out loud numerous times throughout your video. I really laughed when Matt said Corie's extra finger was from your family. My husband, of over 40 years, passed away a few weeks before this past Thanksgiving. He used to tease 🎉me about some of my extended family members. I would look at him and smile, and tell him, all of the nuts married into the family. I am grateful for having found your channel (and the Blind Pig too). May God bless you and keep you!!! ❤
Well, from a real Viking living in Southern California, it is a pleasure to have discovered your channel. I love learning about new locations and see how people live elsewhere. I moved here from Iceland and married a California boy and never left! Your views on family and staying close together is very similar to where I come from.
Oh, adding the secret to your success is that you and your family effortlessly seem to represent the homespun peace everybody strives for. The mountains seem to embrace and protect you from the cares of the world.
Where do y’all go to church? Its so very true: There’s ALWAYS something - and someone - to be thankful for! Bless the LORD and give Him praise and thanksgiving! Blessings, Matt and Tipper…
Love your videos! I just saw the moment that is obvious why you have been married so long and will be married forever..... the moment when you are talking about the new camera he got for you.... you said "you can figure out anything" you believed it and he felt it. Mutual respect....the magic ingredient. So obvious!! The love and respect you have for each other is so beautiful!!!
Tipper you and Matt give my life more reason . When you talked about gratefulness it made me think of so many struggles I have made it through because if gratefulness. I respect and love you and your family so much and am so GRATEFUL that I found your channel.
I turned 54 on the 23rd of July. I agree exactly with what you said about feeling young, except having some aches and pains , and a little slower, too! 😀 Enjoy your family so much! My family lives in the mountains of South Carolina. Love living the country life in the South. ❤️
I grew up in southern West Virginia and my daddy was a coal miner. Coal miners had 2 week vacation all at the same time. We went to Myrtle Beach along with the rest of the county every year!!! We saw all our relatives, neighbors, school friends just like we saw them every day! 😂😂😂
I never once in all this time noticed Matt's finger. I've thought he has hands of hard working man tho. The smile of a little boy about to get in trouble because he can't contain the mischievousness spilling out if him. Tipper, you looked so pretty enjoying the wind with your fellow on glorious day. I liked this talk lot. Sweet. P.S. I am always thankful for the small but hugely precious things in life too. Forever grateful.
Really enjoyed this video. Felt like I was right there visiting with you. So comfortable "talking" with you. Thanks for the Q & A! Look forward to part 2.
Great video!! Years ago, I heard a good message about contentment...it went something like, "Being rich is not about having everything you want, it's about wanting everything you have."
Love listening to your conversations! Calming. Just sitting & listening. Thank you for the smiles, laughs, and warm-hearted feelings. 😊 Look forward to part 2. ❤
Hearing your chickens in the background and the soothing wind is so nice. Thankyou. Your videos sure help when i start to feel depressed but im like you, im very blessed. I thank God for everything he has done and does do for me every single day.
Tipper & Matt, I admire you both so much! You're lives are just beautiful to me. Im an only child, & I have 2 Children. Because of Blake & Karley calling my Mother & Step father Nannie & Gramps, me & Mama's side who were raised up there started calling them that & I still call Mama Nannie. My Step father's passed on. I've found a lot of things we've done all my life is definitely passed down from my Appalachian Ancestors! I'm a home body, too! I could listen to ya'll talk all night. I love any video you make!! Thank you for Celebrating Appalachia!! God is Great! God's Speed Only!
I absolutely loved this!!! You guys feel like family. I think with Matt's finger, it may be a family birthmark? And Tipper, I'm 41 and thought you were my age. You look great!
I never noticed Matt's finger, your not old I'm 60 years old and starting to feel it can't do what I use too but in my mind I can.I love listening to your family's stories ❤
I felt like you two were sitting on my porch just visiting and catching up with each other. Thank you for that. Most of my family lives away or are in Heaven…so your family has become mine. Your wisdom and faith in Our Lord brightens my days. You all are so precious.
My husband had a bucket list of places he wanted to travel. I have never had a bucket list because I’ve always been happy with what I have done and where I have been. It’s so nice not to long for something but instead be happy with what we have and who we are. Such a blessing!
I really enjoyed this Q&A. The part of being grateful really hits home to me. You can see and feel that your whole family is grateful for everything. You're living that life. Loving the Lord is all part of it. Grateful for the simplest things in life. Never taking anything for granted! All this is therapy for me. A good "sigh" from me. Thank you, Matt and Tipper, for sharing your life.
You are such a humble couple. You are far from being boring. The simple life in the country is the best life there is. I agree with you Matt. Not getting on a plane. If you come to the beach in NC, look me up. I'm on bogue banks south of Cape Lookout. There are 7 lighthouses here. Some you can climb to the top. Cucumber sandwiches are wonderful. Can't wait for part two
As a fellow Appalachian in southwest Virginia, i love watching your channel. It feels like sitting around with neighbors... i love seeing people on youtube that i can actually relate to.
What a great Q & A session with you two. I feel like I know ya'll a lot better. And I agree with Matt 150% about getting on a plane...I am almost 73 & have NEVER & will NEVER fly anywhere. The Good Lord didnt give me wing's..lol Thank you both for sharing so much of your life. God Bless. Hugs and Love from NC. ❤🙏
Speaking of Matt's finger... we have a trait on my mom's side of the family that the pinky finger is much shorter and tapered on the end of it than the other hand. Usually the left pinky finger. We call it the "Curnew" finger because the first known relative that had it was a "Curnew". Thank you for answering everyone's questions! You all are wonderful. You feel like family to me. 💜
Amen to being grateful. When people complain I always tell them to visit a children's hospital. It will open your eyes. I can always be content and grateful as long as my family is healthy. God has blessed me greatly. God is good!
Really enjoyed this Q & A, Tipper. Matt's such a mess, and I love that he's gotten more and more comfortable with the camera, because he's got a lot to contribute. I was impressed once again with the good-humored give-and-take of your relationship. It's obvious you love and respect one another. I hope younger folks watch your chats and take heed. BTW, I'm going to blame it on Matt that when I went to the store recently determined not to get any junk food, out of habit I looked at the Little Debbie's display. There were those peanut butter cookies he raved about awhile back. I just had to try them, and although good with a glass of milk, they were extremely sweet. Learned later that one cookie was supposed to be three servings, lol! God bless you both for the positive, common sense values you express on your channel. You're such a joy to spend time with.
You described my perfect vacation: The sun, the surf, the amazement of it all, and not doing a darn thing! I hope all your future dreams come to be realized. ❤
You two like each other, you listen to each other, you're not antagonistic to each other. You're both on the same wavelength. You want the same things. Matt's involved. He is interested, he talks to you about things. THATS what people see and want/want to know how to have.
MmvFirst of all, you two are NOT boring..You are salt of the earth, backbone of this country, plain good people..Just the kind I like..Secondly, I agree with Matt, I am "39" too, minus the half😂, just 39 forever..Some time back, I adopted the old comedian Jack Benny's stance, of being "39", when anyone asked his age..He allegedly did that until he died at age 87😂.. I so enjoyed this Q&A, can't wait for part 2!!!❤❤❤

Awwwwww……still in love,…..AND appreciation! Traits of a gentleman.
That's what happens when you love each other. They are blessed, indeed.
Stopping to feel the wind is just true good spirit.

Matt’s a good dood. Soft-spoken, patient, and loving. He’d be an awesome neighbor.
Dood. 😂😂😂😂
Matt you are not boring! You add more to this channel than you realize! We have so much fun listening to the two of you!
I personally love you and Matt. Both of you are made for each other. Very sensible people. Y'all my kind of people to each good meal for the holidays.
Thank you 😀

Great couple. I think in the south after you become a grandparent that is your new name unless speaking one on one with parent

The best chapter is still ahead of you--grandparenthood. When Corey and Katie have children, oh the JOY, life starts anew.
So true! Grandchildren are so fun!
My mummy says she lives for her grandchildren and they keep her going on her down days.

You are so kind-thank you 😀
The cucumber sandwich eating-Tea drinking crowd is one notch Below you Matt! This world needs more people like you folks and your lovely family🇺🇸
Unless they’re garden cukes on light bread with pine needle tea👍

That was my dream. To have all the family living on one piece of ground. That did not happen for me, but I love hearing about your family.
Bless you!
Me neither. My family’s dream also.

I’m right up the road from Canton in Leicester. be glad you aren’t near Asheville anymore it’s changed so much.
😀
It’s great to see real people y’all are a blessing
How kind-thank you 😊
Please take a BIG HUG, and I am sending you a prayer, Tipper and matt ! God Keep Blessing you and your sweet family !
You're NOT boring! Both of you are precious God fearing people! May the Lord Jesus Bless both of you and your entire family! ✝
You're both so fun, and really sweet together. Thanks for letting us get to know you, and as always, God bless!
Thank you so much!
Couldn’t help but laugh hearing about Katie’s 2 min. wisdom over Corie. Enjoyed the Q&A.. May God continue to bless and grow your channel.
My boy/girl twin grandbabies have that crazy twin connection. Sometimes they don’t even have to say anything yet burst out into giggles simultaneously. 😂They’re 2 years old and sooooo much fun!! ❤❤
I could sit and listen to y’all for days! The best TH-cam channel in my opinion! Faith, family, cooking and laughter!
Contentment is a gift from God.
Bless you and thank you!!
I’m thankful that I’m snapping green beans from my garden while I listen to this video. Thank you Lord for your blessings and mercies.
I’ve always dreamed of a home with the front door opening to the mountains and the back door opening to the ocean. 😂
Well, from a real Viking living in Southern California, it is a pleasure to have discovered your channel. I love learning about new locations and see how people live elsewhere. I moved here from Iceland and married a California boy and never left! Your views on family and staying close together is very similar to where I come from.
So glad you enjoy our videos! Thank you 😊
Oh, adding the secret to your success is that you and your family effortlessly seem to represent the homespun peace everybody strives for. The mountains seem to embrace and protect you from the cares of the world.
Where do y’all go to church? Its so very true: There’s ALWAYS something - and someone - to be thankful for! Bless the LORD and give Him praise and thanksgiving! Blessings, Matt and Tipper…
Thank you! New Martins Creek 😀
You're the first person I've ever heard that likes both the mountains and the beach. It's usually either/or.
😀
I have twin daughters, 28 years old. I experienced much of what you are talking about. Having twins has been the best experience of my life!
Wonderful!
Thank you Rhonda 😀
Really enjoyed this video. Felt like I was right there visiting with you. So comfortable "talking" with you. Thanks for the Q & A! Look forward to part 2.
I would LOVE to have your autobiography! Please pursue it!!
Also please keep making your calendars every year- I so enjoy it.
Thank you 😀
You don’t want to move to Alaska … this is the voice of experience. People nice, scenery gorgeous but a really different way of living.
My grandma used to say no matter how hard it gets you can find a blessing in everyday if you look for it. I'll always remember that. God Bless to all
Always look for that silver lining. ❤
Great video!! Years ago, I heard a good message about contentment...it went something like, "Being rich is not about having everything you want, it's about wanting everything you have."
Love that!
Thank you Lisa 😀
I absolutely loved this!!! You guys feel like family. I think with Matt's finger, it may be a family birthmark? And Tipper, I'm 41 and thought you were my age. You look great!
Thank you 😀
It’s so nice to just sit & listen to y’all ❤
I never noticed Matt's finger, your not old I'm 60 years old and starting to feel it can't do what I use too but in my mind I can.I love listening to your family's stories ❤
Matt certainly has the musical talent of a Presley
🎵🎶🎤😊
Enjoyed listening in. My Great grandmothers name was Mary Jane she was born up that way in Cherokee NC. Hope all is well yall take care
I felt like you two were sitting on my porch just visiting and catching up with each other. Thank you for that. Most of my family lives away or are in Heaven…so your family has become mine. Your wisdom and faith in Our Lord brightens my days. You all are
so precious.
Bless you Cynthia 😀
You have become my family as well! Thank you and God bless.
It is so nice that you now have both of your daughters near you, as well as 2 grandbabies.
Can't wait for part two
Loved this! My grandma Lola use to say that “you never marry more than a hill or hollar away”.
The only thing missing today was the popsicles! 😉 Love listening to your conversations…..looking forward to the next ones….
45:47 Matt thought about something funny. Made himself laugh 😂. Matt, you are one cool cucumber both of you are down to earth good folks!!
Hey Matt, you are funny, the excitement in your voice about answering questions! lol Thanks!
Amen to being grateful. When people complain I always tell them to visit a children's hospital. It will open your eyes. I can always be content and grateful as long as my family is healthy. God has blessed me greatly. God is good!
I'm 73 and feel 40. My friends feel the same way. You guys aren't old‼️
Really enjoyed this Q & A, Tipper.
Would love for you to write a book!
The Halloween Finger - Matt responds, “That come from your family” 😂🤣
😀
That's me Tipper about watching the surf especially the high tide with the moon on it, thinking about its creator 😍
You described my perfect vacation: The sun, the surf, the amazement of it all, and not doing a darn thing!
I hope all your future dreams come to be realized. ❤
Thank you!
Fayetteville GA, where I am, 30 miles south of Atlanta. Closest grocery store is Ingles , Publixs and Kroger.
Y’all youngsters. I got a decade on Tipper.
😀
