7:00, that has to be the least french sounding viola I've ever heard. Nice tutorial! Little lengthier than it could have been but showing all the keys and shortcuts made it pleasant to follow. Thanks for uploading.
Every single video I have watched on this topic today skips over posing like its no big deal. What secret are all of you hiding lol? from t pose to near perfect finger placement.
its mostly stylistic. not much needed to show, but there are some good vids on how to pose right. i like animating and i just kinda go by vibes, whatever feels right
Thanks mate. This is amazing and you gave so much info. Especially you saying use one rig is amazing info. I think its the way to go as it is more easy to see whats going on and easy to carry to game engine too
tru, tho i actually havent done that w/ any of my personal sets in like a year. luckily no issue but its good practice to apply transforms before rigging
I’ve already learned rigging from a seperate albeit much longer tutorial but this one is really relaxed and chill. If I find myself forgetting blender again (which I prolly will) I’ll definitely come back to this one.
This doesnt work for me as my model is in multipleparts. I tried to join them and do it the same way but it stopped working once I got to the pose part In object mode the armature moves it just fine, but in pose mode it doesnt affect it at all
@@HaydnCooper hey man ...can you make a video with importing sketchfab weapon(wich come with like 20 splitted parts) bring to blender and rig it and then export it to unreal engine ? ...
Hi, I have been programming for the past 10 years, and been getting into game development with Unity. I am working on a FPS project, and can't seem to find the animated or rigged models that would work with my game. I've decided to pause the project and learn 3D rigging and animation so I can make my own. This tutorial is good, but I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of where I could learn more. Whether it be another youtuber, or some course. I really only want to learn about Character and Weapon Rigging/Animation
Hey Seva - you might find this step by step tutorial very instructive for your purposes. It will go over all the requisite skills to commence rigging and animation an FPS weapon, from bone constraints and IK to satisfying motion. th-cam.com/video/L2ZqWDUVWoY/w-d-xo.html
I have a question, would i create a seperate pose where the hand interacting with the mag is no longer parented to the mag, so the models don't fly around? Eg: animating an ejecting mag (out of a pistol), makes the hand parented to it, fly around off set, because it's still parented. I'm very new to animating and i havent found any videos directly showing how to approach this issue im having. It would be amazing if you could make a video on this or just respond with the solution. Thx
idk how to actually do this but I'd just replace the falling mag with a copy of the rig mag at some point I think it's how it's done in vidya games as well you take the rig off-viewmodel and then just spawn a new one not 100% sure though
Quick question: how should I go about having differently handed reloads for the same weapon? Like, left hand manipulated the magazine when ammo is still there, then right hand does so when empty. Would this just be exporting then changing constraints between animations?
sorry for the late response lol you've probably already found the solution, but here's the answer to anybody in the future: if the mesh is just dragging behind your bone and not moving with it, it means the mesh is applied to two or more different bones, meaning when you move one bone, it's staying in the position in between two bones. to fix this, remove the mesh from all bones and then assign the meshes again to the correct bones. hope this helps
It should be. You need to export the arms and the gun SEPERATELY as FBX files. There are also certain settings you need to do for the FBX files before you export it (not explaining). It is difficult for it to work in game engines like UE4 but it should work.
haydn being the usual gigachad for always trying to help out animators :plaksik:
Sounds more like a they/them f.a.q.

French here sounds like they said « wallah »
possibly the most epic tutorial of all time
You are a lifesaver for this! I always refer to this video when I have issues rigging stuff
easiest to understand tutorial ever. Thank you so much!!
This was a massive help for my animation! Thank you! Got recommended here by Lochedin, this is really great

VERY good tutorial still works and if i forgot how it works i can watch this and boom >10 minutes and everithing works
bro thank you for this video you are my hero🙌
I'm just starting to dive into the world of fps animation, it's very difficult for me, but I like it
remember to apply scale after scaling if you did it in object mode
rmb to alt f4 after applying scale 🚎

Great tutorial, simple and easy to follow. Thanks!
omg i love you T.T i never throught about making weapons until yesterday. extremely helpful thank you
Finally ive been trying to rig a galil for a year now and i did it:D

what in fucks name I was just trying to figure this out, thanks for this
Hi Haydn, is there a reason that you don't create the bones first and then attach them to the vertex groups (as you create the vertex group)?
is there a way you could do a tutorial on how to achieve animations like yours
Does the gun need to be a single object or can it be several?
Good resources
How do you know where to move the camera in your animations, do you parent it to the gun? Or you do it by eye?
Awesome tutorial, but there's no good reason to add the weapon rig to the arm rig
thanks! I needed this!
Surely you will be a pro in no time
Youll be rigging in no time!

Awesome tutorial! I love your voice!! :)
how do you get the grip looking so good
Takes practice and using lots of references. Feedback is also important aswell but mainly look at references.
when i move around the bones the mesh kinda drags behind it. its not moving with the bone
Might be something with the vertex groups not being assigned to their coresponding bones

This is amazing! How do you properly export this, though?
could you link the rig you used in this video or is it a personal rig? Thanks in advance! Great tutorial btw well made!
its not compatible with game engines, that i learnt when after done my animations, btw.
