Hey mate, live in Brighton. New over here from New Zealand. Recently bought myself a setup to try learn your guys fishing as it’s a lot different to home. Be real keen to come out with you sometime after work or on the weekend 👌🏼.
Hey mate, that’s an awesome place to live. There are heaps of options for fishing. I’ve caught some great flathead off the rock walls there at high tide. I’ve filmed some good footage there. Also, over across the big bridge at Hays Inlet I filmed my most viewed video with the big grunter and flathead (12k views). Fishing here in Australia is not bad - I recommend soft plastics 3 inch paddle tails or prawn imitation lures are good. I’ll have to see if I can tee up a time in the future and let you know mate, if I’m heading up that way for a fish! Appreciate your comment mate & keep in touch with the channel. Cheers 🎣 💯 🐟
Absolutely mate sounds awesome! Love watching the videos as I use them for learning! Just so much different to what I’m used to. Going out in the morning to have another go at Brighton Beach. Definitely let me know if you head up these ways. Cheers
Hey mate! Thanks heaps. It’s definitely worth a shot, particularly if it’s a sandy bottom and strong current/ wind. Also, if you want to pitch a long cast to a sand bar that’s a long way away. I’ve caught bream, flathead, whiting, trevalley on them to name a few. Let Me know if you catch any. Good luck mate! 👍 🎣 💯
Thanks heaps mate. Yes, I was just lobbing it myself and being careful as that’s one my best rods haha. With the wind and the current so strong I had to find a lure that could cast and that’s the only I knew I can catch fish on in those conditions. Sorry about the wind noise too. It was very wind out there! haha. Cheers mate!!
Hey mate! I haven’t done a lot of fly fishing in the area myself. However, I have met a few people who fly fish the local area and really enjoy it. I think you can fly fish out on the sand flats at low tide and I’ve seen people fly fishing out of boats. I have a few friends who fly fish but they aren’t locals. I would recommend looking for a fly fishing club in Brisbane or surrounding suburbs. There are some very experienced fishermen in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. I would reach out to the local fly fishing club and you will definitely find some good fly fishos! Good luck with it mate & if I start fly fishing in the future I’ll put up a video. Cheers.
Hey @jasonhansen6727, Yes just out the front to the left of the channel. Not sure if you are familiar with Nudgee beach but you can walk out on low tide and flick lures into the channel. It’s a pretty good spot and has some good fishing if you get a good day.
Good vid! I always enjoy it :)
Cheers mate - thank you. 🙏

Well done with the flatties. That’s a nice setup you’re using. Those Freams are a beautiful reel.
Thanks mate - they are a very good reel. I highly recommend the 2500 for estuary fishing. 🎣 💯
Great vid mate!! Haven’t tried that approach before, will give it a shot!!

Any Fly Fishing (fresh or Salt) in/around Brisbane?
I'm just relocating from Auckland and use to do the Kingfish
