Venture with me into a threatened Betta smaragdina habitat in the far eastern region of Thailand by the Mekong river slowly being caved in by stone quarries threatening to destroy their environment, I'm Frank or some may know me as FranksBettas take things into my own hands and collect specimens to conserve the bloodline of these fish by breeding and re-releasing their fry to populate a new safer habitat in my area.

I always find wild type bettas so interesting in comparison to the normal bettas we see on the regular. The vibrant NATURAL colors, the fins, their shape. So beautiful and under appreciated in my opinion

Well, the wild type bettas are the “normal” bettas.

yeah. When I first got into bettas, I only liked the domesticated long-finned varieties. Over time I've actually fallen in love with wild species. I keep a mahachaiensis, which I think is one of the most beautiful species, and just can't go back to the domesticated ones. Wild type bettas are insanely hardy, just as personable, and much more peaceful

      Yeah, they're shy and predatory

While it debunks the myth that Bettas should be kept in tiny bowls or tiny aquariums it also shows that the greed and lust to process other living beings is still ongoing. Don't get me wrong, these fish have probably a better chance to survive 'should' they get into the hands of someone who truly makes the effort to keep them correctly (maybe 1 out of a thousand people as it seems), but we are the cause of pollution, plundering and destruction of nature in the first place. Once we had 170 Million people on this planet, now we have nearly 8 billion who demand and demand natural living animals, natural habitat and destroy or occupy natural space.
