As you can see from the video these fish are very healthy and when they go to individual homes they'll probably live a very good life.

Selection breeding is the key why they're so beautiful, in fact that they need some special treatment for the water so they'll not sick and make the color mutation goes faster. Idk how northern hemisphere environment would affect betta fish, here in tropical environment, they'll be fine in such small bottle.
The moment you see the glass bottles have a hole, you should already know. They did give the bettas food and constantly add clean water so the dirty water flush out through that small hole. People are too scared of ammonia, but bettas are well known for their harsh environment in the wild. And they absolutely likes tannins water. These breeders add and remove water regularly to improve water quality while still maintaining that tannins water. Bettas that lives in clear water with filter running usually have short lifespan and often get sick. These little fellas ABSOLUTELY hates moving and crystal clear waters. Thats why in wild, they can only be found on the dirty edge of the lake as a smoke screen from the predators or in a small puddle. When you see a small 400 gallon puddle, always search for a much smaller one. The puddle that comparable to 1 to 3 gallon tank, 95% of the time, they always be there. The documentary that most people saw made by American literally false information so that people that wants to keep bettas buy a complete set of big freaking aquarium. Its all a bisness in the end.
