Dave, in response to your reply to Dick Gibson, I have noticed on my VTx that is 5.8 GHz basically a Boscam type, that it has its own microphone under the thin and brittle heat shrink they use over there. I wanted to ask you if you updated the GPS module for use with MP 3.01 as they recommend (not needed in earlier versions apparently) and if you did, did you use the FTDI RS232 to USB adapter to do it. I have to make up a cable or buy the FTDI USB adapter cable from 3DR for 20.00 pus shipping and then there is the wait. So I have come to a halt here for the possible but not certain lack. Is this cable needed?
No I have not updated the uBlox. Could you give me a link to that info on the upgrade? I got my FTDI to USB board from Sparkfun. But afaik the uBlox GPS does not have an FTDI interface so I am confused as to why you would need one then again you may have a different GPS. I used the FTDI/USB board for the MinimOSD and the Telemetry air radio. Maybe I will understand more after you send my the link so I can read about the upgrade.
great tutorial there...I just want to ask about the USB cable that attached for the programing the APM 2.6. is it regular micro USB or is it specially made for the APM 2.6? thanks in advance

Hi dmerc00, Does this make any sense if you flight an Apm 2.6? Can you do this ? ... "Usually, the forward direction of a flying multi-rotor is the same as the nose direction. By using Intelligent Orientation Control (IOC), wherever the nose points, the forward direction has nothing to do with nose direction:
In course lock flying, the forward direction is the same as a recorded nose direction.
Im gonna set up an Amp 2.6 using your videos as a reference . You have done an excellent job so far , thanks a lot .

No I do not know. I have seen some people put the two cameras on the same gimbal.

Im having massive Problems with 2 sets of APM 2.6 and uBlox external GPS+Compass. So im pretty much testing with 2 sets, so i can rule out stuff. My GPS Module was working fine, solid Blue light, then all of a sudden no Blue light anymore and no more GPS Fix on Mission Planner. Then i took the Second GPS Module, hooked it up and it worked. All of a sudden the socnd one stopped working as well. Now i check the volt out put on the APM GPS connection and its reading 5v, i even hooked up the GPS Module through the APM to the u-Center and updated the Firmware so i assume the Module is still working BUT no Blue or Red LED goes on the module nor do i get a GPS FIX. Ive searched for answers on the net but no luck so far, could you tell me at least what voltage should be coming to the GPS Module from the GPS slot on the APM 2.6? ive read something about the 3.3v regulator but i do get 3.3 from the l2C port, the GPS Port on APM sends 5v..... ahhhhhhhhhhh

+Wilhelm Bevensee The I2C port and the GPS port both are powered by the 5 volt rail from the power module. There is no 3.3 volts out that I know of.
If you are doing this on the bench you may want to go outside to receive sats because the GPS may be just pulling info from memory then when the sats don't update it goes into error.
I just calibrated the compass for my new 2.6 with external gps. so far so good. the instructions I saw today said to point the compass north when starting the axis moves. i have re calibrated a few times and have effected the way the plane points on mission planner map drastically. will the gps automatically correct that when i get her outside and it gets to work? or should i try and calibrate outside away from electronics and use a real compass to orientate. pretty sure my house walls are way off n s e w lol thanks for any advice.
Sean Joy I don't think it matters if you are inside or out. However you might take a real compass and see if there is anything interfering with the reading inside and if so find a place that is free of extraneous mag fields. Honestly I have never read that the compass must face north to calibrate, that is new to me. You will probably see better readings from the GPS outside when the plane is moving. The GPS has to be moving forward at speed to determine direction.
i ended calibrating with the 180 flip as i should have to begin with if i read the page better hehe. it seemed to work appropriately after that, stayed steady i think that is what i did wrong.

Hi i pluged in my gps with the wires that came with the ardupilot 2.6 kit and now i cant connect. It blinks 6 blue and 2 red and that's it. Pc says no heartbeat detected. Plz tell me i didnt fry my board.
Vendor might have sent you the wrong cable. Call them and see if they can help you find the right one.
Can you tell whats wrong with my set up flip fpv apm 2.6 - Today's test outdoor I already checked motor rotations and props are set correctly, for some reason it wont take off, I have my three position set as: top-stibilized mid-loiter and bottom-RTL
Did you do the Radio calibration in the mission planner?
yes! but issue with radio sticks being reverse remains, when i try to go forward it goes backwards and when left it goes right...
javierymirna There check boxes in the mission planner to reverse the channels if that happens. Just put a check mark in the boxes that need reversing.

Bad compass health means it's not calibrated live compass calibration is not done or failed.
Sure thing Dave, just give me a minute to respond, I have to go down to the sand pit and load a truck. All these brains and I have to run a wheel loader for a living. I have found out how to do it and I have all the links, I will PM you with all of it. It is big.
Actually a wheel loader sounds like a fun job. Are you at a sand and gravel quarry. We have two of those near by to us. Thanks for helping me out with the upgrade Chris. I will check for the pm.
