Great tutorial. I only hope it works with my HKPilot. I was told it does but will just have to see when it arrives. The features on this board are great for camera work thta I intend to use it for. All the best and Happy flying, modeling!
Hello Rudy, the Ardupilot is the hardware itself. Arducopter is the software you install on it for multirotors and it can be used in a Hexacopter. Arduplane is the software for planes and Ardurover is the software if you want to use it for an RC car. This is explained at 2:40 in the video.
Excellent Tutorial, Thanks...! I’ll be setting up my X900 Tricopter with this flight control system. Have the KK 2.1 and works Great and is a lot of fun to Fly, just cant let it get out to far with out the dreaded lost aircraft. Working on my 2nd Tricopter Build for long Flight times and this Flight control system should work great. Thanks Again.
Very good detailed video. I just ordered for my 2.6 board after watching your post. However I will like to use fpv on this board. I will also buy the telemetry. Kindly tell me what I will need for fpv with this board. Thanks
Thanks for a great upload. I wanted to ask you that in the list on your computer regarding Mandatory Hardware & Optional Hardware, can sensors that are not listed still be added and able to communicate with the Ardupilot for data logging such as Temp, Humidity, etc? Or is it only limited to the options provided so you can’t add any other hardware? Thanks for your video & I look forward to your reply.
Thank you so much for the video. I don't know how much to thank you. Can i run this Ardupilot using arduino IDE ? If so, where can i look for similar instructions ? How can i get the codes that read all the GPS, magnetometers etc that are embedded in Ardupilot ? To put it in a single sentence, i just wanted to fly a single ducted fan. It is neither an aeroplane, copter or anything given in the mission planner .
The usb connection to your APM2.5 supplies enough power for it to work while connected to the laptop . You need to make sure that you select the correct COM port in the mission planner before you click on CONNECT. Check your laptop device manager where the APM is recognized and see what COM port it is assigned. Open your Mission Planner and at the upper right hand corner select the correct COM port and change the baud rate to 115200 . then click CONNECT ,it should connect after this.
Hi, I can't seem to find the correct website your showing on the video, for overview. I used the exact same link but no hope.... Can you direct me so I can get it.. My board is on it's way so need this soon. Thanks in advance
Hello! I have a problem trying to conect the Adupilot to my PC. The COM port is not being recongnized by the PC. I wanna know if you can help me with that.
Hello I want to ask that if I have already updated the firmware and done all the mandatory settings and there is a newer firmware version available after 2-3 months , then do I have to redo all the mandatory settings after flashing the new firmware or just flash the new firmware and the earlier settings will remain retained. Plz reply !!! Very Urgent !!! I am your subscribed user !!!!!!
I know some people run Mission planner on Mac computers running Windows 7 but they have reported mixed results maybe it is related to the fact that Apple as you know does not like open source stuff . I would advice a cheap netbook with an Atom processor, they cost very little on amazon or ebay.
all firmwares will work with hexa-x mode. Just upload the hexa firmware and then when going through the configs, select x mode. very simple when you do it.
When clicking onto connect it loads for a short while and than it says "Timout in (counting from 20 to 0)". After the 20 secs an error comes up with "no heartbeat packets received""... I hope xou can help me!
Hi, I do have a hexacopter f550 frame, i wonder what type of frame is mine if i want to upload "common parameters" . X type, then i have to select ....? Using Arducopter 3.1.5... These are the options I have : 3DR_QUAD_X4_RTF 3DR_X8_RTF 3DR_Y6A_RTF 3DR_Y6B_RTF Advance Beginner CameraPlatform Intermediate Iris
Followed all the steps and my board still not powering my motors my esc ‘s get warm as there getting power but when throttle up nothing happens ? Stuck don’t know what to do now does anyone help with my problem everything is calibrated radio is also
Nice video! I have a question now. I plugged the GPS into the APM2.5 board and then plugged the APM2.5 into the laptop. It was recognized by the device manager, but cannot be recognized by Mission Planner. I uploaded the firmware(Arduplane V2.70) first and clicked the icon of "connect". A window popped up and said: No Heatbeat Packets Received. I supposed to see the change of the parameters on the screen. But it did not. Do I need to provide a separate 5V power supply to the APM? Thank you!
Thanks for you comments , unfortunately i have no personal experience with arduino IDE . if you post this question on the arduino forums on the internet i am sure that someone with firsthand experience will help you.
it appears that your gps is still blinking and does not show a fixed blue led indicating gps lock. Is it possible that your location being properly shown in the mission planner is really a red herring, and is just indicating the position of your wifi-triangulated home?
I have noticed that every time I see someone using mission planner software, it always looks different than mine. I am using windows 7 and 8 and have not been able to see the "simulation" icon on the top of my menu as with others. Also, there are other features such as assigning way-points and have the return to home line drawn in at the end. I have upgraded every-time it is offered and have still not seen these features.
Hello echo and thank you so much for that lovely and helpful video I got to tell you man that stuff really hits it on the head accept me I have one problem when I plug in and I go to my device manager I don't see no yellow triangle so I can't get the device manager to work and the advice please help me any help would help love you man thanks
Dear Sir.. Introduce me rudy, I am a beginner in terms Multicopter. I am confused about the term ardupilot, arducopter, arduplane. is ardupilot can used for hexacopter? because I had already bought ardupilot, whereas I actually to build a hexacopter. maybe you can little explain the difference of both? thank you best regards
Hey, Ive got a weird problem with my board. I arm it, then I give it throttle- no problem. BUT THEN when I put the throttle back to zero the board automatically DISARMS ITSELF (the red led starts flashing again). Can you think of anything??
That sounds strange to me Chris, if you followed the correct installation steps for the software, they all have the options to load which relevant firmware you need. what version of mission planner are you running?
How do I know how much board-rate should I choose ? By default , mine is 111100. It is the latest APM 2.5 + , the apm-2-5-kit from 3 D Robotics . My mission planner is the latest version, 1.2.62. Your page is told old now and it redirects us to the new page.
as far as i know the flight controller will accept any of the moderen radio systems. i do know for sure that the Futaba, Spectrum and Turnigy series work on it.
Dear Sir, I have owned HKpilot MEGA 2.5 but i have Turnigy Plush 40A ESC Linear BEC with 3A 5V output. can i power my HK pilot from it? Thanks and Regards
Ok, I went to download the software, I went here ( ArduPPM_v2.3.16_ATMega32U2.hex) for the download, now, when I went to open the file, it was a text document, I did NOT get the Mission Planner Software, where is that located?
Not really the limits you have are the limitations posed by your battery flight time, many modern 2.4ghz transmitters have a range further than the human eye but i have set my APM2.5 to 'return to home' if it goes out of range of the transmitter.
i connected my GPS 1575R-A but its red LED keeps flashing without getting a lock ? i heard that the pin configuration in the board are wrong ?? what should i do
OMG boats! They will be making GPS guided dope boats with nobody on board next! lol Columbia to Cali non stop. Probably would work with semi submersibles too as long as the GPS antenna was up on a thin pole. Jeez, I better not give them any ideas!
Anyone got APM 2.6 working under Windows 10? It worked for me ok on Win8.1, and after upgrade when I plug in usb no new device is detected, no new port, nothing.
Hi, it can also be used for X configuration quads. X Configuration Control In this configuration the control as follows: // Pitch Control M1 = M1 + RX(Elevator) /2; M3 = M3 + RX(Elevator) /2; M4 = M4 - RX(Elevator) /2; M2 = M2 - RX(Elevator) /2; // Roll Control M1 = M1 + RX(Aileron)/2; M2 = M2 + RX(Aileron) /2; M3 = M3 - RX(Aileron) /2; M4 = M4 - RX(Aileron) /2;
I can not see any reason why not . However you jumper setup must be correctly configured, see my video on the APM 2.5 power setup on my channel to explain things better.
that's my problem with apm it's not as easy to work with when compared to naza software it's cheaper. it's open source. cheaper is not always better. gotta give Dji credit open source has been doing way before Dji and the system never live up to expectation. bought the phantom vision + plus and this is not my first Dji naza product i bought and own the f450 before m v2 and gps were available and with the transmitter mod and and wifi amp you can at least 2 miles via wifi check out the link. DJI Phantom 2 Remote Control Extender (Update)
qgroundcontrol runs fine on osx btw. the best hardware to run windows on is still a macbook pro: tomshardwareDOTcom/news/Windows-Best-Laptop-Performance-Crashes-Windows-on-Mac cheers r
Nicely done. Very easy to follow and I can't wait for more. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

An excellent explanation. Thanks for the video.

Hello, you would need exactly the same stuff as any other board. The APM board is no different. :-)
Excellent work very well done
Could you provide any link from where the version of apm planner software which one you are using in the video can be downloaded
what a great video...clear & precise :D
Thank u sir.. its very useful to me
Great!! Mine its working perfectly!
Even I could follow this, thanks.

yes, everything is within the casing and only the power module and optional 3D radio is external.
Very Useful, Thanks
Hey nice work, i wonder which model of GPS you are using ?
hello! how i can download this program for my linux? i find for linux just not working...i not understand why. thank you
Excellent , congratulatios. Where can I find the second video? Many thanks.

Thanks!

hi friend. I have a problem with my X copter. its so late for arming and some time don't arming ( in the mode stabilize ) and blue light is on

It should work, even though i have not owned the HK version myself, i hear it is a clone of the APM2.5 so this guide should apply too.
salut comment accelerer la vitesse de rotation de mon quadcopter de mon yaw sur un apm 2,8 ? merci

How much range APM Telemetry works ?
this guy was awesome in gavin and stacy lol

Can you please tell me which type of transmitters are compatible with APM 1.0 or APM 2.5?
what kind of GPS you have? and where do you get it?
When you have to fly an aeroplane, we cannot supply power to ardupilot using USB. How are you planning to do it ?
what is the name of the gps hardware that you have used?
Dear Sir..

I would like to know if the plane can be controlled via Gps
Ie, landing and rising
yeah it can be :) but you must use Telemetry
I can't configure gps pleaas help me!

Hello were can i buy this apm 2.5 with case?
i have added a link in the description to where it can be purchased.

Oh yes , just search youtube for 'autonomus RC boat ' sit back and enjoy.
Anyone got APM 2.6 working under Windows 10? It worked for me ok on Win8.1, and after upgrade when I plug in usb no new device is detected, no new port, nothing.
do you have windows XP
I want to use it on x4 quad but i can only see +4 on the firmware
Hi, it can also be used for X configuration quads.
X Configuration Control
In this configuration the control as follows:
// Pitch Control
M1 = M1 + RX(Elevator) /2;
M3 = M3 + RX(Elevator) /2;
M4 = M4 - RX(Elevator) /2;
M2 = M2 - RX(Elevator) /2;
// Roll Control
M1 = M1 + RX(Aileron)/2;
M2 = M2 + RX(Aileron) /2;
M3 = M3 - RX(Aileron) /2;
M4 = M4 - RX(Aileron) /2;
I can not see any reason why not . However you jumper setup must be correctly configured, see my video on the APM 2.5 power setup on my channel to explain things better.
Can i install this on my mac?
