    TLDW: A first gen Highlander is definitely a great buy if you’re looking for a reliable, reasonably priced used SUV, just get one with AWD lol. Crazy torque steer!

      Something that could be potentially confusing is that the first _model_ year for the Hybrid is 2006, and then for the 2nd generation, it's 2008

    • @damilolaakanni
      @damilolaakanni ปีที่แล้ว

      @MarcillaSmith the only differences between the 2006 hybrid and 2008 hybrid are the body style and interior. Powertrain was the same between the two. It was upgraded to the 3.5 hybrid from the RX450h around 2010.

    I have this exact car, but a 2005 and AWD. I am in love with it. Bought it a few years ago with 135K miles. I'm sad you didn't really push your car around a corner with some speed, I do it all the time. There is almost no body roll and fantastic steering control. These cars can actually hug corners better than you think, it's just hard on the shoulders because the car is so heavy. She's powerful and drives smooth like the old Land Yachts. I'll have a lot of trouble letting go of my car some day. Maybe I'll just keep her! Thanks for the great review!

    2003 4wd V6 45k mi. I Did the 100k service. Recomended by Car Care nut on YT. Time vs. miles. Extensive. All fluids. Rear end, center unit, trans, engine oil, coolant, timing set/water pump and tensioner, oil pump, plugs, all belts, brake fluid flush. This was not cheap but I inherited this garage kept car and I am keeping it. She is brand new again and ready for road trips. It is an extra car and driven lightly. Oil pump only was replaced due to a stripped major bolt. Timing belt and plugs looked really good but 20years old.

      @@giovanniberdejo-gallegos3569 The one thing I’d say is just keep up on routine maintenance and it’ll treat you well. And even if you don’t get everything done right on time it’ll still be reliable. I like to change my oil and filter every 4 months just to keep the oil in the engine good. But it’s a great car to own, good power with the v6, gas mileage is ok, it’s quiet and smooth on the highway, and it’s great in the snow. I had mine out in a snowstorm the other day and the roads were covered in snow and it handled it with ease. Hope this helps

    Good video review. We still have my wife's 2003 4WD V6 base model with (only) 92k miles, white with tan interior. We love it. Original owner. Have had no problems whatsoever, just kept up with the standard maintenance. Smooth and quiet ride. We've had seat covers on them so the original cloth seats look new. We take good care of our cars. Can't believe it's 19 year old. People always ask us if we want to sell it. We don't put a lot of miles on it so it should last another 10 years or so. I drive a 2019 Highlander XLE. I love mine as well.

I changed the oil every 5k miles. Did brakes after 60k, front struts and tranny fluid after 85k, Did the transfer case oil and coolant exchange after 90k. First set of tires lasted to 40k. Second set lasted to 90k. That's all I did. Extremely reliable vehicle. Paint still looks like almost new.
