    I have the 2005 2wd Base with 2.4L. about to turn 200,000 miles. An absolute joy to own and work on.

    Possibly my favorite model of all of them. The retro body style of a mid sized suv is easy on the eyes. I'm looking to get my hands on one this year. Thank you for this video, sir

    Love the understated but classy look of these vehicles. If you are a DIY mechanic, the four cylinder is easier to work on. I have a 2006 Matrix 4WD that just passed 206,000 miles and runs perfect.

    I have the same problem with my 2005 Higlander shifter - the lock solenoid gets stuck and you have to gently work it a couple of times when it sticks. Doing it gently is more successful than forcing it. Apart from that, I love my 2005 V6 AWD, it's been the best vehicle I've ever owned.

    • @DannyWohl
      @DannyWohl ปีที่แล้ว

      could that problem potentially get worse? what would the cost be you think to repair that? Looking at a car with this problem..

    • @icbtech01
      @icbtech01 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DannyWohl I guess it could get worse. Mine has been about the same for three or four years, and because I now know to treat it gently, it hardly ever sticks for more than a second now. I have no idea what the repair cost would be, you'd have to ask a Toyota dealer I guess.

    Does anyone know if the 2005 Highlander V6 with four-wheel-drive has a limited slip differential? In part of the factory service manual I found a comment regarding rebuilding the rear differential to coat the parts before installation in hypoid LSD oil which made me think perhaps some of the 2005 Highlanders maybe did come with it.

    I have a 2013 Toyota Highlander 2.4 liter (4) cylinder and due to my health issues I have not been abl to change the oil for approximately 5 to 6 months. I truly wanted your opinion if I should use any motor flush like Motor Medic or Liqui Moly before changing the synthetic motor oil and the OEM filter. Your opinion and expertise is truly valued by me and many others as I am a dedicated subscriber to your TH-cam channel. Thank you for helping me and God Bless You and your Familia, Adios Amigo

      Don’t flush those particles can clog the oil passage way just change the oil and use oem filter and don’t use liquid moly is not great use valvoline

    It would be interesting to see how you fix the catalytic converter error below threshold problem. Is there a way to fix it without getting a new converter?

    • @jayhockley8841
      @jayhockley8841 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Try some Cataclean .
      My 2005 Highlander had a Catalytic converter code and it cleared it up .
      Just add it when your Truck is at 1/4 tank and take it out for a 65 70 mph ride .
      It helps clean out the Cat .

    Hello, I have a 2010 Toyota Prius 2ZR-FXE engine with code P0401, and I changed the EGR following video here on TH-cam and clean all passages and the code returned. Could it be because the software update was not Done? I would like to check the power signal and grounds of the EGR connector, but I can't find any information. I have 6 cables at EGR connector in the back I have red, black yellow and in front green, black with white and pink with white and they all give me power only the red sometimes yes and no. please help.

    I've got an 2005 with the same problem with the shifter. I thought it was the brake light switch, but that didn't fix it. I'd love to see a video on that repair.
    My 3.3 "ticks" a lot at idle on the top end. Any ideas what that might be?

      @@DannyWohl Mine has been doing the same thing for years. I wouldn't let that chase me off from a purchase. Mine also has had a top-end tick in the V-6 for years with no complications.
      What should be noted - another related issue with Highlanders of that era is when the shifter gets stuck, usually in gear and can't be shifted back in park.
      Turns out, the red, plastic positive battery terminal cover breaks off and lodges down in the shift linkage below it and you think the transmission has locked up. I thought no way that was more than a freak-kind of accident, but sure enough it happened to mine too.
