Just some commentary, firstly, fantastic visuals. The audio was crisp as well. It was an easy video to watch and it’s a step above what smaller channels (and even some bigger channels) produce. Great job. 5/5 I’ll say I was shopping between these three cars (s4 & m340i & is350) and I have a different opinion (and some facts). The Audi s4 is the best overall daily driving product of the three. It is comfortable, handles great, practical, and has a great interior and exterior. It’s more well rounded than the other two. The bmw m340i is the performance monster in this class. It’s actually faster stock than Audi s4 is on stage 1 (0-60 in 3.8s vs 4.1s) and if we tune the bmw it becomes a blood bath. That b58 can get you low 3s to 60mph with a couple hundred dollars from stage 2 (tune plus downpipe is all) while you need a seriously built Audi to come close. The b58 is also a more engaging engine, more reliable, sounds better, and can get better mpg. The m340i is also by far the best handling car in this segment. BMW is also known for its class leading infotainment system. However the bmw m340i is fairly ugly, it is more expensive to maintain, and I am not a fan of the new tablets they have in them. It’s also the most expensive. The Lexus is350 shines in looks, maintenance, has the best sound system, and gauges. However it is by far the worse in this segment for performance, practicality (can’t even use cup holders), tire wear, handling, and fun. All three have fantastic build quality. You buy the Audi s4 for its fun daily driving but softer liveable characteristics and fantastic Quattro awd system (especially in snow). You buy the rocket ship of the bmw m340i to drive the most decorated wards engine the b58 and to have a very fun daily that can go sideways in the summer. Also most tuneable. You buy the Lexus is350 if you plan to keep the car for a ridiculous amount of miles with the least amount of maintenance while having a bit more luxury than a basic Corolla. All in all I went with the bmw as I found the comparison a no brainer. The m340i competes more with the rs line of Audi than the S (that’s how fast it is). However it was a tough choice and if I came across a more significant price difference I’d consider the s4. My 2c.
Thanks man, really appreciate it, also agree with your comments. S4 is probably the best daily but the 340i is certainly way faster stock for stock. Great vehicle, and I could totally see buying a 340i. Thanks for watching
the MPG advertised is lower than what is achievable, after a 2 hour drive on the interstate i was able to get 36mpg. it's very efficient if you set the cruise control
Compelling video and comprehensive thoughts man, I appreciate you being honest throughout. I believe you made the right choice going for the b9.5 s4. I'd like to add some context if you don't mind. Last year one of my friends purchased a new m340i for ~73k OTD, I straight up laughed in his face once I found out. I purchased an F30 pre-pandemic, so I know how this market used to be before everything went crazy. B58 equipped 3 series could be found all day under $35k with 35,000 miles. Pandemic forces raised the market for m/340i, s4/5, and c43 equally, the m/340i's kept climbing because when the Supra launched all of these influencers began hyping up the tuning potential of the B58 with it's now mocked, simple "downpipe + tune". All of this information was not new for 2 years while the B58 was already out, just a bunch of people seeking out validation for the next cars & coffee. IMO the B58s are way overvalued right now, and that's coming from an owner. I would also choose the B9.5 Audi today because with the LCI update for the 3 series (2023+ MY) received high gloss black plastic for it's front and rear bumper, deletion of interior infotainment and climate control buttons, deletion of adaptive drive mode, and deletion of passenger lumbar support just to name a few off the top of my head. Can't forget the feeling that the new stuck on dual display looks like it cost them like $50 to make Overall it gives the same impression of cost cutting as the new C-Class Mercedes, with it's own screen filled and button free interior. (Fun Fact: The new refreshed BMW M3/M4 lose a projector beam in their headlight, now instead of having 2 they have 1. They seem to be keeping up the cost cutting trend. Other things like them now charging $900 for a less powerful Harman Kardon sound system, which they used to include for free with higher power, really puts me off from the car. Closing thoughts, I'm glad you didn't get fleeced and got a great deal on a superb vehicle. I also won't be purchasing another new BMW, will just be saving up longer for the fulfilling Porsche purchase.
Glad you added all of this context man, and I fully agree with you. Particularly on the cost cutting and interior updates in the 340 and c class. Your friend paying $73k really is wild. Good luck on your Porsche saving, I too am saving for a GT3 one day lol
Great video - very professional. I have a 2019 S4, purchased last September (pre-owned) - fantastic vehicle, and even better with a tune (not for everyone I know, but it really woke it up).
@@MakingMonroe I went with Integrated Engineering, a Stage 1 ECU and Stage 2 TCU tune. The car is fast and responsive, to say the least. I only drove it stock for two days 😎 I am happy with IE - great support. I have heard good things about 034 as well, so they might be an option for you.
Great car, and a real good price, for sure. 100% modify it. I've got the S5 Sportback, and Stage 1 ECU/TCU alone will really transform the car's behaviors. I will say, though - You might be kicking yourself for not getting one with the Sports package after you've spent some time with it. That sport differential and suspension really does make a difference when you're whipping it around the backroads or sliding around in the snowy months. That said, that price you got probably has a lot to do with the fact that it doesn't have the sport package or black optics, which both are very much in-demand options in the used market.
@@HamishCarpenter Yes, I wouldn't recommend flashing the ECU under a lease agreement. Something like the JB4 might work well in your case! Worth doing some digging, anyway.

Since i bought my b8.5 S4 I have not looked back. Hands down the best car buying decision i have ever made. Now at 125k miles and Stage 2+ the S4 continues to be the best RELIABLE Luxury Sport Sedan.
I agree that the Audi S4 is still plenty fast when tuned just like the 340i. However, I chose my 340i because I got a really good deal on it. 2017 340i, just under 70k miles, these engines have a reputation for being reliable well past 120k miles. Faster than any V8 that doesn't have a supercharger strapped to it.
Just bought one! Get it next friday! I do have to say, im 6'3" and I'm touching the roof unless I sit a little lower. No big deal to me, but might be an issue for others.
I recently got the S3. Got an amazing deal, 8,500.00 off sticker with rebates and discount. No brainer over the more expensive bmw. 0 to 60 is not everything. Audi has great styling, tech and performance.
Peace. I was debating between S4, m340i, is f 350. Ive owned a lexus & bmw before, So i decided to go with the S4. Hands down its one of the best cars ive owned. Im glad i chose it over the others. Might put a tune on it once its out of warranty. Buts a great vehicle.
Audi all the way. They have a history of being tune friendly. 340i and BMWs in general feel like a tank off the line. Quattro system and the Engines broad torque range, and dual clutch, in Audi S4/S5 give smooth, consistent, and quick accelerations from any speed. Tuned Audis are VERY responsive (not just 'fast'), yet still feel very factory smooth. Power is always right under your foot. In gear accelerations in the Audi are just as useful as slamming your foot down in a 340i, banging through gears. Audi is the type of car where an average pull from a light gets you 0-60 MPH in 6 seconds without passengers realizing you are even trying to drive it fast. Rarely feel a need to go beyond 3k RPM, for any type of real-world power scenario. And IMO the way an Audi glides across the highway is unmatched in the auto industry - 3800lb car literally feels weightless, likes it floating in space.
Should try RS models if you think the S4 rips. I'd say generally Mercedes has the best interior and Audi is the best all rounder. When I think BMW, just the M3/M4 as the iconic generational sports sedan.
I've had the pre facelift A4 for a long time now, and I gotta say, when I first got the car I was quite disappointed. This is my first car, and prior to this, I had only had experience with Mercedes, and this car just felt like a let down. It was the latest and greatest out of this segment at the time, but even with my car that had every big ticket item except for the adaptive dampers, it's just alright. I had a tough time with upper back support, even with the upgraded comfort seats. Also, the squeaks and rattles in this car... holy crap. I've noticed that they're better on the facelift cars, but for how much my car was (here in Canada, my car all said and done was about $66kish), the material quality just isn't it. For some reason, Canadian cars don't get the leather door armrest trim, nor the leather padding on the sides of the centre console, and it honestly sounds like styrofoam when you grab onto them to open/close the door. I have grown to like the car more with time, but I regret not getting a 3 series, albeit it was showing its age when the B9 A4s came out.
I have a 2019 s4 Love this car but keep in mind .. waterpump / thermostat goes out at every 70k miles …. Also definitely replace solenoid valves and carbon cleaning.. and zf8 transmission service every 40 k miles I would recommend… 😅
@@Submersed24 when you turn your engine on eventually it will say low on coolant please turn off engine .. then 4 k miles later on after you added more coolant … the car will start acting up bogging down and stuttering at slow speeds…
I bought a new 2022 S4, (Tango Red- black package) and took it over the BMW or MB. The BMW has a better engine, no question, but in every other objective and subjective way, the Audi was just better to me. The MB wasn’t close to either. The S5 Sportback is larger and heavier, so the S4 is quite a bit more nimble and quicker. But I may replace this for an RS5 Sportback…
The audi a4 takes the standard car and made it better. No doubt m340s are fast and cool.I think we have the same preference of having smaller screens. For me the new bmws look funny with the long screens and trying a bit hard to join the trend with mercedes.I have an audi a4 avant b8 that im still using.Definitely ages well
Agree, I don’t want everything in my car to be one giant screen. I like a tasteful mix of physical controls and screens. has the b8 been pretty reliable?
@@MakingMonroeups and downs but definitely a good daily. One of the common problems with the b8 was the water pump.Especially in Asia where im from it gets hot so its bound to happen even with bmws and mercs.Other than that, its pretty reliable just keep in mind to service it on time and do what you need to do and you will be good.
Ive been using it as a daily since 2015 ( bought it circa 2013) going from one district to another (131km). Obviously its aging and did few refreshing parts. One time the ac went hot and found out the ac blower was the culprit. There was also a time where the car was overheating and thankfully its just the cooling fan wasnt spinning and a cracked coolant hose After all this i found that when something goes wrong, get it fixed immediately. These newer cars have a habit of connecting parts together eg like mine. Pump goes off, leads to other parts such as the fan. Transmission wise everything is tiptop havent had any problems. Nonetheless an awesome daily. Have a corolla myself but honestly the comfort of Audis are amazing.
the only thing that kinda sucks for some s4's is that the headlights arent sequential like the 5s. ive seen some s4 that have it but idk why some dont have it becasue it lookks soo good. you probally have to get a higher trim to access it.
He said the b58 is better stock for stock then said whatever that thing is is better tuned vs b58 stock, obviously? tuned for tuned goodnight. Great video felt like knit picking for no reason.
I'm an audi fan and vw , owning a porsche one adui a8 and an audi s8 in my family. But the BMW 3 series is better in any aspect ... the interior on audi feels cheap.
As good as Lexus build quality? Dude, Lexus build quality is trash. Audi is ten times better than Lexus. Every Lexus I’ve been in just feels like a Toyota, touch points and materials used are cheap.
@@MakingMonroe def right. Every Lexus I’ve been in feels cheap. Even the two I’ve owned. If you think Lexus has better interior materials and quality than Audi, you’re high.
Haha I hear you man. Audi is solid, but the Lexus/Toyota vehicles built in Japan out of the Tahara factory are very well done. This is the landcruiser, 4runner, GX, LS etc. If you owned an ES or IS or something, it's not the same build quality
@@MakingMonroe been in a few of those and still disagree. I’ve never been in any Toyota product and thought the interior was good. Then there’s the designs. Toyota/Lexus interiors are hideous to look at, in my opinion. My biggest issue with Toyota, outside of boring driving dynamics, has always been their interior quality and design. But that’s just me.
You lost me when you said that the Toyotas infotainment is better then your Audi's. Toyota has maybe the worst infotainment in car industry today and that's coming from Toyota owner (had 5 modern Toyota's since 2017 and my newest is a 2023)
I think the new Toyota/lexus UI is pretty decent, the interface in my 2023 Rav 4 is more responsive and easier to navigate than this Audi. This is a 22 though, I’d say the newest system in the refreshed Audis is a little better but I certainly wouldn’t say the new Toyota system is the worst out there. The refreshed Toyota system is solid.
BMW idrive is great since you can use the rotary dial and not have to take your eyes off the road. It’s like muscle memory for me and I never use the touchscreen in my bmw. Cannot stand fingerprints on the screen.
Thanks for watching! I think it honestly depends on the specific vehicle. The mark lev in the 23 GX is noticeably inferior to this B&O, but I’m sure it sounds better in certain models.
yup 100 percent. the 2023 gx was also growing extremely long on the tooth, and there is a noticeable update to new models like the RX, which received more recent redesigned.@@MakingMonroe
Good production value but tbh it just came across as you attempting to justify your purchase decision rather than actually making a comparison. Everything you said is subjective and if you're really looking for the best value and interior quality in this segment then you should've bought a C43.
Well hey thanks for watching. C43s in the same model year are almost $10k more expensive in the southeast right now. This was $45k, 10k miles, CPO. I do love the c43 though.
Mercedes has the worst quality out of the three. I've received w205(same chassis as the w206, new one has just been facelifted) c-class, e-class, eqs, glc, and gle loaners. The doors from the C-Class feels like they came out of a civic. Although I'm not a fan of BMWs current direction of screens, atleast both the BMW and Audi actually feel like a solid sedan...
@@pr33tu_ I’ve noticed this too why are the doors so flimsy! I’ve also heard people are having a ton of issues with the newest C class so I wanted to steer clear
I just find the B9 S4 incredibly boring. The M340i and C43 perform better, look better, and sound better. The S4 doesn't excite. Excitement, that's what a sports sedan is supposed to be about, no? I can't imagine dropping 45k on such a boring car but hey to each their own. Enjoy the depreciation. C43s and S4s cost the same where I live.
Just saying that for those that care about sheer speed lol the point is that you can make these plenty fast if you want to. Real car people know there’s a lot more to a car than just speed, and this one strikes a nice balance. I do also still love the 340, nothing against them
My only complaint is that Audi has the worst infotainment system out of the Luxury brands right now. Wonderful cars but their tech needs a serious update
Very biased review, lol. I love the S4's. I have an RSq3 and a M4. The S4 looks exactly like S line A4. Other than that, I think it's a great car, especially if you don't want the attention. Tuned not as potent as a B58 Gen or Gen 2
@@MakingMonroewell said, not everyone buys cars just for the "engine"/0-60, going a millisecond faster or doing pulls gets old quick. There's more to the car. Agree on the looks personally in and out of the Audi - looking for a B9.5 myself. Great take.

Nah get Tesla model 3 ludicrous, no maintenance, faster than both. If you want engine sound, b58 no contest, m340 is the best ice sedan.
I can relate to your thinking, I think you made a good choice. I too would like an RS5 one day lol
There was also a time where the car was overheating and thankfully its just the cooling fan wasnt spinning and a cracked coolant hose
After all this i found that when something goes wrong, get it fixed immediately.
Agreed I don’t have the sequential and wish I did
@@MakingMonroe I bet you can easily mod it but idk.
Well done!!
Hey thank you! Appreciate it
I wouldn’t go with APR, personally I’d look at 034 for all tuning and parts
Yeah 034 is probably a better option I agree
@ from my research 034 is known for tuning towards reliability. IE if you want to make more power
He said the b58 is better stock for stock then said whatever that thing is is better tuned vs b58 stock, obviously? tuned for tuned goodnight. Great video felt like knit picking for no reason.
Haha can’t argue with your logic, I do love the b58 as well
Speaking nothing but the truth
The newer B58s are not easily tunable, for like $800 dollars and 30 mins at a mechanic with APR your good to go, no need to send ECU to Finland...

I'm an audi fan and vw , owning a porsche one adui a8 and an audi s8 in my family.
But the BMW 3 series is better in any aspect ... the interior on audi feels cheap.
Interesting take. I’ve also owned both and prefer the Audi interior to the BMW. I do like both though.
I do think the M340i is the better pick out of these generations but "better in any aspect" is ridiculous and the Audi does not feel cheap.
Hows the audio? I love listening to podcasts so that’s a must
Man i really wanted to see the turbo @11:28
I’ll have another video coming soon, I’ll get some shots of the turbo
Fellow Dunwoody car enthusiast!
Nice! What you driving?
@@MakingMonroe Did you end up going with APR software?
As good as Lexus build quality? Dude, Lexus build quality is trash. Audi is ten times better than Lexus. Every Lexus I’ve been in just feels like a Toyota, touch points and materials used are cheap.
Wrong^
Nice video but I disagree on the sound system. The modern Mark Levinson sounds way more clear than the Bang and Olufsen
Thanks for watching! I think it honestly depends on the specific vehicle. The mark lev in the 23 GX is noticeably inferior to this B&O, but I’m sure it sounds better in certain models.
@@MakingMonroe I have to agree with @rishinarang9966 on this one, that 1800 watt Mark Levinson system in the Lexus IS is no joke.
yup 100 percent. the 2023 gx was also growing extremely long on the tooth, and there is a noticeable update to new models like the RX, which received more recent redesigned.@@MakingMonroe
I agree. It’s literally the only better quality of the IS500 than the m340i & s4.
@@Mike-cz2ywNah there are others, like reliability, the v8, etc.
Audi kills BMW and MB in interior quality and better technology in this price point. Its fast enough for a lot of people. @@altayab
Bro said with a quick tune he’ll be “roasting” a stock m340 meanwhile a tuned m340 would gap that shit out of you 😂😂
Just saying that for those that care about sheer speed lol the point is that you can make these plenty fast if you want to. Real car people know there’s a lot more to a car than just speed, and this one strikes a nice balance. I do also still love the 340, nothing against them
th-cam.com/video/u_lf6ooAhe8/w-d-xo.html
My only complaint is that Audi has the worst infotainment system out of the Luxury brands right now. Wonderful cars but their tech needs a serious update
Wow surprised you feel that way I don’t think it’s that bad
Very biased review, lol. I love the S4's. I have an RSq3 and a M4. The S4 looks exactly like S line A4. Other than that, I think it's a great car, especially if you don't want the attention. Tuned not as potent as a B58 Gen or Gen 2
Should have bought the M340i. That B58 will destroy this S4.
Haha eh, Audi looks better though, and is fast enough
You got me on the looks. I agree on that front. Come to think of it, for daily driving the difference in powertrain is irrelevant
What about reliability
I have a 2020 s4 with stage 2 tune from 034. I've easily beaten the m340i
@@MakingMonroewell said, not everyone buys cars just for the "engine"/0-60, going a millisecond faster or doing pulls gets old quick. There's more to the car. Agree on the looks personally in and out of the Audi - looking for a B9.5 myself. Great take.
Didn’t even see the full interior
You made a mistake go bring it back and get the m340 because at the light the m340 will obliterate you
lol
I'm from PHILLY. I don't like to sit in my car like you LAMES. This means he drives with one hand . That other hand is on trouble if you want it Not 10 -2 or 9- 3 One hand on the wheel TELL EM Lean that seat back We all do. If you know you know.
I'd probably go with a Toyota 😂
Haha never a bad choice!
yeah that's bulletproof😂
@@MakingMonroe enjoyed the video. All the best
Some of us like to drive. And we buy the b58.
Nah get Tesla model 3 ludicrous, no maintenance, faster than both. If you want engine sound, b58 no contest, m340 is the best ice sedan. I had bmws and Audis, but after owning a Tesla m3 and having no maintenance it’s hard to go back to ice cars. I still have Audi q7 as family car, but my fun car and daily is Tesla model 3 P.
A Lexus is a Toyota. Don’t kid yourselves.😂
Sounds like you’ve never owned a Lexus that was built in Japan
You're not a car guy if you buy the interior over the driving qualities.
