I like the tap on the picture frame use. I use one mounted to the back of my mailbox in a custom 3D printed case. It's been there for over a year now with no issues. I might have to use the under the table automation
I have an Aqara sensor in the drawer of my coffee station table, when I pull out the drawer to get the hand grinder, the lightstrip overhead goes on - best use of a vibration sensor I have found for my home
I use the same sensor attached to my Velux skylights - tells me when the vents are open or the window is open. Tied to weather information I get a reminder to close them.
I actually put one on my shower handle, anytime I turn the shower on, my exhaust fan automatically turns on. I have a Lutron Claro on the exhaust fan, so I have it set to turn off after an hour so it doesn’t stay on for an extended amount of time
I like the use of putting them on chairs. I was thinking about putting them on a washing machine to know when it’s finished washing the clothes, as if I’m watching a movie I never hear it finish.
i’m thinking about purchasing a few of them myself. I’m thinking putting one on the nightstand so I could just randomly hit somewhere on the nightstand and dismiss my alarm 🤣
Thanks for the vid. With Matter updates and smart homes becoming a tiny bit more interconnected via thread radios, and Home Assistant maturing, im finally looking to jump in. Right now I just have matter supported smart plugs for basic stuff and want some ideas. I think im gonna start with Apple HomeKit which I might regret being an Android phone user. But for home home automation I think this with a cheap iPad and their Shortcuts with Home Assistant to fill in the gaps is how im gonna start. Looking forward to it. Peace
I think you could combine the vibration sensor and the presence sensor. So you don’t need a turn off timer. Use the vibration sensor to turn on the light when you need it and tell the presence sensor to turn it off if all people left the area 🤔
I got mine today and installed it a our doorbell. But if the bell is ringing the sensor does‘nt notice that. I taped it direct on the bell. Do you have a tipp what I can do?
I’m currently working on one of these to go on my dryer. Once it feels the dryer on it sends a message to my Apple TVs the dryer is on. Then, after it stops, it sends a message dryer is done.
@@BrendanByrne-it9uz I just built a test automation to simulate what you’re trying to do… I had to create a recording and save it in Apple Music, then create a scene to play that recording on my Apple TV, then create an automation to trigger that scene once the vibration stops on the sensor.
sorry but this aqara vibration sensor stinks. I have returned two. Their sensitivity is crap (you need to punch them for them to sense anything) and they are frequently offline and if you use them with their G3 camera they will bring the camera offline. Don't buy.
I love the ideas, especially the bar stools! Great job!
Thanks Reed!! 😊
I agree, love videos like this to see what others have come up with.
"Unique and impractical" is my specialty, in my wife's opinion.

Cool ideas, you could also hit the table so that another beer is delivered to you, but this is so 1900s automation.
Love the “I’ve got a small fortune worth of your products here” 😂. Great idea on the bar stools!

great ideas, Can you do a video on how to turn off the heater/ac when a sliding door or window is left open?

I’ve bump into my chairs too often for this to work, sadly
I hear you. The Aqara FP2 presence sensor could be a good solution.
Just entered the Aqara Universe, and I am impressed. I would love to see more regarding the new M3 Hub.

I just got the idea to put them on the washer and dryer so I know when then aren’t vibrating anymore.

I haven’t started playing around with Home assistant yet, but that seems like the way to go. Amazon Alexa has been very good for me for years though.

I can't get it to work. Once the vibration is triggered, it doesn't keep triggering afterwards.
