awesome Garage makeover, iam moving from a 3 car garage, to a 2 car garage, 19.5 wide by 24 deep. I have 3 cars, and plan to install a 4 post lift by advantage. House is being built, can you make recommendation on those light sensors? I plan on getting Barinna 8foot long lights,, extra plugs in the ceiling ? Hard wired to switch? Need to store 2 bicycles, Rakes, shovels, John Deere 42 in lawn tractor, I asked for water in the garage, I also detail my own cars, extra circuit or electrical plugs…this is a new build, only thing I know at this point I will have 10 to 11 foot ceiling with side mount garage door opener to accommodate the 4 post lift.. appreciate your suggestions.

@@danakfarran261 awesome! Congrats on the new place. I also went from a three car garage to a two car garage. A couple of things that come to mind based on your situation… Ensure that you have a 20 amp receptacle to give yourself more options for your pressure washer. I really enjoy my I lift bike lift, however my previous Steady Racks were a lot more practical and cost-effective. I highly recommend them. I had Barina lights previously, they were definitely an upgrade from the fluorescent fixture that came with the house… over time, individual LEDs would fail. They are inexpensive and easy enough to replace. If you wanted to go a step further, the Cree fixture from Obsessed Garage is pretty impressive. I plan on adding two later on this year. For storage, I absolutely love my Levrack. It was a huge investment, but it holds so much stuff. You’ll definitely want a jack shaft style garage door opener to have the ceiling clearance for your lift. I think hardwiring the lights is the best way to go. For years I used a Lutron “dumb” light switch with a built-in motion sensor. I recently upgraded to Aqara Motion Sensors to trigger additional automations like under cabinet lighting, air, freshener, and air conditioning. If you’re just looking to turn hardwired lights off and on, the Lutron “dumb” occupancy/motion switch is solid.

I like what your are doing. The vibration sensor on the chairs is a great idea. One tip, to 10X your game, look into local control. Home Assistant is the bomb, but I hear good things about Hubitat, and Samsung Smartthings runs some things locally if you just want to dip your toes in the water to check it out without getting into more detailed automations. With local control, instead of the delay after banging on the breakfast nook table before the lights turn on, it is nearly instant. And that is just scratching the surface, the power of the automation potential in Home assistant will take well beyond the next level. Keep on innovating, looking forward to your future videos.

I'm a home theater user who never used a universal remote, being a "one device, one remote" kind of guy, but there's a guy at the AVSForum who wrote a free app called *HTWebRemote* that runs on a PC on your local area network that you can use to control almost any home theater device that can be controlled over you local area network, which is almost everything nowadays. The app has two sections: (1) a graphical remote builder that lets you define and place buttons onto tabbed sections of a web page, and (2) the section that hosts that web page and relays the commands your buttons send to your LAN-connected devices. The button builder has - built into the section where you write commands - for the devices it knows, the syntax of their commands and the devices' documentation. A button can send one command or many lines of commands, which can include delays between lines, and you tag each line with which device that command is sent to - so a button can be a macro to do many things. I have an Oppo Blu-ray player with the third-party dongle plugged into it that lets you temporarily change geographic region codes so you can play disks from other parts of the world. Doing that normally requires a multi-step dance on the Oppo's remote. With this app I've created single buttons that send all the steps, properly timed, to do that region switch. I use an nVidia Shield TV, which is an Android TV based streamer. With this device I've created a page that has buttons for all the services I use to go directly to them as well as making it the active input on the AVR. He has a whole section in his documentation on how to get the device tell you what apps are installed and what the commands to run them are, though he's set up commands for the most common apps. My AVR's remote doesn't blink brightly enough to be seen by the device on a shelf behind me when bounced off the screen, so I mostly replicated the AVR's remote on the phone screen. It can send commands to wifi light switches as well to run not only room lights but power older pre-LAN equipment on and off. All of this is run from the screen of my Android phone as a tabbed page in my phone's web browser, with a bookmark to it on the phone's home screen. The guy who wrote it runs a discussion thread there where you can download the app for free, get help setting it up for your equipment, and even suggest additions to the program, which he frequently acts on.
