That was the single most informative and useful After Effects video I've ever watched! So many things to improve my workflow stuffed in such short time! THANK YOU!!!
I thought so too, especially in combo with bend it, but for some reason it is not working in my projects, although I exactly recreated what Ben showed. Any suggestions?
"Grow bounds" does not work for some effects especially plugins. Another solution to achieve the same result is to add repetile above the effect in question, and then set the tiling mode to NONE, then increse the edges as needed.
If you wanna do 5:36 for other aspect ratios or resolutions, just replace the *0.56 part with /(width/height). For example, 1920x1080 would be /(1920/1080).
Hi, You sir is a goldmine, I've been motion designing for 3 years now, but, up until last year, I wasn't trying to improve my work. I gotta admit, I have been learning now for a few months and in the process, I've found your channel, Well I found it a while ago but, didn't know you did motion tutorials because that fiver video got me here then, and I thought you were one of those clickbait guys. Anyway, For some effects I've found your videos then I clicked on your name and what did I find? A goldmine of things nobody wants to share, Here is thing, people share knowledge on youtube but, skilled people don't have time to do that so we don't get advanced effects or tutorials that much just basic ones. But, One thing is for certain you are a genuine helper, you shared something that a great motion designer or design studio wants to keep secret. Simple things that without great minds ordinary people like me wouldn't be able to do. So for that, I thank you. Another way I can tell you are a genuine helper is that you refer to good resources like the School of motion or anything that has great value even though you have your own course. Thank you again and keep sharing the knowledge and keep your skills sharp as always.
Ben, after a year, this is still a gem that every motion designer must know. You did a great job here and for many of us out there trying to master After Effects like you, Jake, Eran Stern etc. God bless, buddy.
thanks Ben for sharing all this tips to the community. This teach a lot: learning something new and don’t keep anything from yourself...ALWAYS SHARE AND GROW TOGETHER!
These are some of the more helpful videos on TH-cam. Creating generalist videos is a great way to just get a quick snippet of the capabilities of the program. Been working in AE for 8 years and still learned a lot. Thanks Ben and happy new year!
Thank you for the CC Power Pin tip! I've never mapped a computer screen on an existing clip, but it was easy (just had to add keyframes as the perspective changed).
Can you teach us how you genuinely make or come up with those gradient shots in your other videos. Like you show us how to do the animation but you usually already have the pictures already made and it's very eye catching. Can you teach us how to make those first so we can move onto those beautiful animations. Personally I'm always intrigued by how you know what colors to use, where to put shadows or certain gradients.
one thing id like to add, with timecode, i find it works better if u use the 'numbers' effect, the nu can control the font and stuff (it has bad crop options tho)
Great video. I use a lot of these already (especially Roughen Edges but the little tip of adding to instances was very helpful!) but definitely picked up a few new ideas. Thanks!
I don't use any of Adobe and I have no interest in Adobe after effects but I still watched through that entirely wideo. Great job and I even tho I don't known what u did there I fell smarter in some way haha
this was ridiculously useful
Your channel is a gold mine, Ben. I wish I knew about grow bounds much sooner
Imagine commenting on James Lee.
You are beautiful.
The grow bounds effect is a lifesaver. Thanks a lot, Ben!
This video is really really good - great work!
whoa Animagician! I love your Dream SMP Videos!!!
The tip on linking the parameters on the Mosaic effect was just....... perfect.
That was the single most informative and useful After Effects video I've ever watched! So many things to improve my workflow stuffed in such short time!
THANK YOU!!!
Oooh i didn't know about grow bounds, that's so helpful - thank you!
For when you need “mask expansion” but you’re not working on a mask
Me neither… this probably could’ve saved like 3 hours all total in my 10+ years of using After Effects. Thanks Ben!
Ya this is huge for me. So sick of comping shape layers with alpha
Je
I thought so too, especially in combo with bend it, but for some reason it is not working in my projects, although I exactly recreated what Ben showed. Any suggestions?
Really appreciate the effort you put into teaching others. You don't have to, but you do. That sharing doesn't go unnoticed.
and for all super simple movements in animation: puppet tool
Especially for puppets :)
Holy thing
"Grow bounds" does not work for some effects especially plugins. Another solution to achieve the same result is to add repetile above the effect in question, and then set the tiling mode to NONE, then increse the edges as needed.
GROW BOUNDS??? Where has this been my whole life. Thanks for growing my knowledge Ben!

Really good stuff in here
"animate album covers for your ska band" 😂 Seriously useful and smart stuff as always. Can wait to do some easy smears with the echo effect!
one thing id like to add, with timecode, i find it works better if u use the 'numbers' effect, the nu can control the font and stuff (it has bad crop options tho)
I like to use The GRid effect for quick TV scanlines… and the coolest thing in Transform is the ability to skew your objects.
great video Ben, thanks and happy holidays!
i know i'm late for this video, but thank you for this, now i can become an even better animator!
this video is what i looking for
Great video. I use a lot of these already (especially Roughen Edges but the little tip of adding to instances was very helpful!) but definitely picked up a few new ideas. Thanks!
