    Coffee in the morning, beer in the afternoon. Sounds like a well balanced life.

    Well, you can't get a more straight forward comparison test than that, showing clear data. Is the Yeti worth $15.00 more than the RTIC? I think not.

      Price difference is even more now. RTIC always has sales.

      The Biggest difference is that the RTIC is not dishwasher safe and Yeti is, you pay for convenience of upkeep. I like them both tho.

    I bought four different types of these tumblers. Yeti, RTIC, Orca, The Beast. The Beast was by far the worst. It would sweat profusely and ice would melt within a a couple of hours. Orca was was decent, but the ice still melted within a few hours inside my truck. The Yeti and RTIC keep my Diet Coke ice cold and maintain ice on the same level. I will say I prefer the slide lid on the Yeti as opposed to the flip lid on the RTIC

    my guess is if the ice would have been exact and melted water was weighed ...would have also tied on that test.

    The one big difference is the YETI can go in the dishwasher and the RTIC is hand wash only.

    I have the RTIC Cup and what I hate about it in the lid/cover. It is so hard to get off, that I loose my patience with it. Looking for something with an easier lid to deal with.

  • @gutturf
    @gutturf ปีที่แล้ว

    Note that Yeti now has the better lid with the mag slider, which is easy to remove for cleaning and probably helps insulation a bit. I ordered a number of these for all my insulated cups of various brands (Yeti, RTIC, and Ozark Trail). They all work fine for me since I don't let my beer or coffee sit around 4 hours before I drink them.

    I heard (do not know if it is true)
    that RTIC was made by the husband of the woman who had Yeti when they got a divorce and that they are both exactly the same except for the price. The ice was almost no difference at all. So even though I have many Yeti’s, I would go with RTIC from now on.

    TrekTumblers has a replacement lid for these at 2.99 each and have a slide closure like most tumblers. 2.99
    This Premium Slash Proof Lid has been designed and crafted to perfectly fit any 30oz TREK, RTIC, YETI, SIC or Ozark Trail Stainless Steel Tumbler. There is are small holes on top of lid that will allow airflow for smoother drinking experiences without annoying splashing.

      But why buy a Yeti when you can get a tumbler with the same performance for half the price or even less? That alone makes the Yeti not worth the price. The only difference I see is perceived status some attach to the Yeti.

    • @horsewithnoname12345
      @horsewithnoname12345 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ffollies Yeti is the pioneer. They came up with the product. Rtic literally copied them. Plus you can wash a yeti in the dishwasher and rtic you can not.

  • @protectandswerve
    @protectandswerve 7 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    To do this truly accurately, you should have EXACTLY amounts of liquid and ice added at the exact same time and capped at the exact same time. Also, the cups themselves could have been at different start temps depending how long you let them sit after washing them with warm / hot water. BUT, I still don't think it'd make a difference with products that are made almost exactly the same way. Spend less and who cares about brand names. RTIC for me.

    • @johnkopecky1115
      @johnkopecky1115 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly, should have put identical numbers of ice cubes in each and measured the water in a graduated cylinder. Eyeballing it in some glassware isn't scientific at all. When he first poured the water I was expecting him to call it a tie.

    I think that when it comes down to the fine line it's what people prefer. Just like anything else in life you get what you pay for. I don't think that ozark trails have the same warranties that yeti does and not sure about RTIC but I could be wrong. The only thing about this that bothers me good sir and it's quite disturbing is why in the world would anyone put beer out to sit and get warm well unless it's Pabst

    1: Rubber seal longivity
    2: Magslider preference
    3: Dishwasher safe
    4: Less denting on the base of the product (hard on hard surfaces)
    5: Lasting color

      Seems like pretty much all stainless steel tumblers are very similar in build and performance. You really pay for the brand name when you buy a Yeti. I've had my tumbler for about 2 years and it's still going strong too and it only cost me $15. BTW why do you think the other brands are knockoffs of Yeti? It's not like Yeti invented the stainless steel tumbler.

  • @mightbegenius

    Doesn't the Yeti have a lifetime guarantee tho? I like the quality of their rubber seals and magnetic slider lids. I'll pay 10 bucks more or so for better quality even if it does the same thing, b/c 10 bucks isn't going to break my bank. To each their own I guess...

    It took me a while to see the value in the YETI. My RTIC cup keeps my drinks iced just as long as my YETI cup. It took a year of in service to see why the YETI is double in price. The YETI is more dent resistance that’s why. You say the small dents don’t bother you that bad? They just happen to occur on the bottom of the cups were they need to be perfectly flush to sit properly. There you go the truth is out. YETI is the better made tumbler for that reason only.

      I agree, let's support our own! RTIC are made in China. Yeti now looks like combination based on product: Our Tundra coolers are manufactured in the USA at facilities located in Minnesota and Wisconsin as well as at a facility located in the Philippines. Our Hopper coolers, Panga duffels, and Rambler drinkware are manufactured in China. The LoadOut 5 gallon bucket is manufactured in South Carolina.

    This review was good until the end when he says it depends how much money you want to spend. The first test appeared to be a tie but even if it had a quarter ounce more the RTIC is clearly the winner since you can buy 2 RTIC’s for the price of 1 Yeti. Are there people out there that want to spend more money for the same results? Dumb

    • @FlamingRoosterBBQ
      @FlamingRoosterBBQ  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kevin - absolutely, this is why Yeti exists and why they dump tons of money into their marketing. They are a 'lifestyle' brand and smart consumers gladly pay double for a product just because they emotionally relate to the product. Oh, and that cool sticker.
