    I know this video is over three years old, but I just had to to say thank you, thank you, thank you!! I just replaced a plastic blind slat and was so excited that I was able to do it with your easy instructions. Now, I can use up all of the bottom slats until the whole blinds need replacing. THUMBS UP!!

    That's the method I used instead of undoing the knot at the bottom. Also, a dab of super glue helps to close the slit in the slat.

    I can't thank you enough for this video! We live in a rental home, and my dog broke one of the blinds. My daughter was going to call someone to come and replace them. As soon as I finished watching this, I took the scissors and removed the damaged bind, and added one from the bottom. It didn't even take me 5 minutes! My daughter was amazed, and so thankful. You saved us from having to buy new ones! Thank you again 💕

    Great idea. Thank you for sharing. I've done something like this but I opted to make longer cuts at an angle for a more sturdy feel.
    If you are brave enough to try and "repair" your cordless blinds by replacing your slats with the ones found at the bottom, I found binder clips help from keeping the cords from retracting back into the mechanism. Also, using pieces of paper clips to help your knots from going through the bottom rail opening. Tedious at first but so satisfying when done.

    Thanks for the video! I have a quick question- I have an issue if my vertical blinds of window not closing properly.In my case, I am having those vertical slat blinds and I have 2 issues and would greatly appreciate your response!
    (1) In my living room window blinds, only 1 out of the total 9 blinds move when I pull the rope attachment. The remaining 8 blinds just stop moving along with the first one after 2 seconds of pulling my rope attachment so there is this huge gap created when I close the blind and sunlight comes right in.What to do about it?
    (2) For my bedroom window blinds, i ma having the same issue but in this case 4 out of 9 blinds move after pulling the rope attachment. The remaining 5 just won’t move at all after a while so it creates a wide gap and sunlight comes right in. How to solve this issue?
    Thanks ahead of time for your response🙏

    • @Jennyfromtheshop
      @Jennyfromtheshop  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s not you, it’s the blinds! I did a follow up video to this and my second set wasn’t as sturdy. You might need to take a piece of white tape to help hold the cut area together. I’m wondering if the blinds broke down from heat and turned yellow and brittle?

    Can this be done on the faux wood blinds?

    • @Jennyfromtheshop
      @Jennyfromtheshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      I honestly don’t know, if they’re a thick plastic, they may crack/splinter when you try to cut them. If there are extras or many at the bottom, try testing them. It’s hard to say without seeing them in person. If they’re otherwise wrecked and need replaced it’s worth a shot. 👍

  • @ccadama
    @ccadama 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Jennifer Cline aka Miss DeWalt. Thank you Jennifer for the repair idea. It really helps in saving money so we don't have to replace when we can fix. If you still have that demo mini blind, try tack heating each cut with a soldering iron so that slat has a little more strength? It's worth a try to see if the two ends will fuse or melt together. If not, like others said, we could use tape.
    Hope you and your family stay safe and well.

    Every one of my miniblinds develops frays in the strings that keep one side of the blind from raising and lowering, to where the bottom of the blinds are cockeyed at an angle. They are 37 years old and some were never even raised or lowered during that time. Apprently it's cheap string and it just gets old, frays, and gets stuck in the area where the round roller is at the top that is on some kind of spring that is suppose to allow the full width of the blinds to raise and lower together, and is suppose to grab the two strings when you let go of them. I don't want to throw the whole mini-blinds away just over this. Can you do a video on how to fix this?

    • @Jennyfromtheshop
      @Jennyfromtheshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Joe! It sounds like you might need to restring the entire set, unfortunately. The other TH-cam videos I saw showing how to fix a broken blind completely redid the strings so possibly those will be helpful? I don't know that I have the patience to tackle that myself. Your blinds must be custom, hard to find or were expensive, I'm guessing, and I get not wanting to buy new. I hope you're able to repair them as I also hate wasting if it can be redone.

    Not a good a idea, (emergency)...So, you want to destroy a perfectly perfect slat. Then someone might stick a tape & a finger printed sticky tape that might be filthy to view. Then the cut or slit slot will eventually bend or break...For me it looks not a good fix. Only a temporary fix.

    • @Jennyfromtheshop
      @Jennyfromtheshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not sure I understood completely, but I fixed my son’s blinds about 4-5 years ago and they’re still perfect. His blinds were heavier quality than some of the cheap Walmart ones. Those you might as well throw away but for decent blinds it’s a permanent fix.
