This was very helpful! Unlike so many other TH-cam videos, there was no unnecessary fill-in babbling, just talking when the next step was initiated. The instructions were clear and concise and the silence was golden!
Thank you so much! I just took apart and rebuilt an expensive wood blind, with no problems at all, thanks to this video. Everyone said "oh, restringing a blind like this is REALLY difficult, I wouldn't even try it. They were wrong! I would have had to replace THREE whole blinds if I couldn't fix this one as it's not possible to buy one that matches anymore.
One of my ladder strings broke the other day. Had no idea who could fix it and didn't want to replace all three of the blinds. This is an amazingly simple fix and I will be trying it soon!
One ladder string just popped out of the top of one of my blinds. I was worried that I’d broken it for reals, but now I know how to put it back in thanks to this video!
The ones I bought have very fragile string. One is for a door going onto the balcony. It broke right away because the door got caught in the wind. I love these instructions. I got better quality string and just restrung them with your help. Thank you so much.
OMG!! Thank you so much! I'm a new home owner and learning how to do my own repairs for small things like this. I have two blinds that are broken and really didn't want to have to replace them. Thank you so much for this video! I will be trying this out. Now I just need to get the string kit.
Great video! Funny thing was when there was a step that gave an instruction, and then another step, sometimes the 2 second gap on the video was an hour or more in real life! Haha! My wood blinds were different and I didn’t know how important the little clasps were and in the end I couldn’t put the caps back on. With plastic, that bottom piece would be hollow with plenty of room for string. With wood, I just crammed the knots in the hole to hide the ends. Works ok but not ideal but better than spending $100+ on new blinds for a guest room that rarely gets used.
Thank you so much for this. I tried to "fix" my broken ladder string with needle and thread. Thank you for instructions and the link to your FixMyBlinds company.
Please tell me where I can purchase ladder strings and replacement string for the lift strings in off white, as shown in your video. I have a 2 story house with 23 Levelor blinds that are in various states of disrepair. I'd like to try repairing before replacing the blinds.
Hi there, A ladder clip keeps the string ladder aligned so that it enters the headrail straight. A blind will work just fine without one, however. It's not a necessary part.
Good video. Don't know where you got the little cord crimps. Also, there are little brackets installed on some slats...don't know where you got those either.
Hi Donna, We carry the crimps and the ladder clips on our website. Here's a link to our site: www.fixmyblinds.com. Search for Ladder clasps and ladder clips to see those items. We have a couple different sizes of each.
Hi Alice! You may need what is called Privacy Ladder. Does it have loops on the front and/or back sides that the lifting strings go through? If you email us a picture of the ladder you currently have on your blind, we can let you know if we have what you need. Our email address is service@fixmyblinds.com.
The lift cord isn't always tied off in the top rail. It usually just runs through the rail and out the locking device. Does your blind have one single cord on each section of string ladder or are there two? If you'd like, email me a couple pictures of your blind and I can provide specific information. My email is service@fixmyblinds.com. - Gretchen
There's no way to repair this, usually. You may be able to sew it back together. Otherwise, you'll have to replace the all of the ladders on the blind.

Thanks for the video, I almost want to throw my expensive wood blind due to the broken string. The video save me time and money and hassles a lot.

Great video. God bless 🙏
Great video.. although my wooden ones are not broken, I can now dismantle for a thorough cleaning.
so glad I found this video..... I was really about to buy a whole new blind.... thanks
Just what I needed. Thanks!
Great video thanks, just purchased home later realized 4 put of the five wooden blind ladders or locking strings are broken. Thanks again!
Great video. Thank you. This really simplifies things.
But why cut the ladder 8” longer than the existing, only to then cut another 6” off in the end?
We recommend that just in case folks make a mistake or have trouble connecting the ladder at the top or bottom. It's just a safety cushion.
Thank you. A great little video.
Very helpful video
Thank you!
Thanks this is a great help.

Great video. What's the purpose of a ladder clip?

@@fixmyblinds thank you very much! I need to buy a replacement ladder string and will be using your site in a few days. Thanks for all the videos!

Where in the heck do you get ladder string at? Ive never seen it anywhere and looks pretty frustrating to weave..

How is the center cord, the one between the ladder that runs through the center holes attached?
Hi there! That cord is usually tied off inside the bottom rail. Are there buttons on the bottom rail of your blind?
@@fixmyblinds yes, it attaches with the pop out fastener on the bottom. I’m wondering where in the mechanism does it attach at the top?
