The morality thing is a big issue nearly all RPGs have. Take wrath of the righteous for example the evil options are psychopathic. Why cant we playing a Tywin Lannister type? Torunaga (Shogun)? Shane (Walking Dead)? I feel like developers don't want to reward players from taking morally questionable choices and I dont mean tangible rewards but just a fun/interesting outcome.
Yeah absolutely I always feel like it's more interesting playing as a character that is evil but has redeeming qualities, doing bad things for a good reason sort of thing it would be cool if you could do that in Avowed but we will just have to see I guess.
