This mod is the main reason I got Crusader Kings 3, I included the Valyrian Steel submod that allows to fund expeditions to Valyria and the Bookmark submod. I started playing as Rhaegar during the Defiance of Duskendale when he didn't get married yet, I managed to get him engaged to Lyanna, got a dragon egg from an expedition to Valyria and after visiting various Dragon Lore sites I managed to hatch the egg using Dragonstone's volcano and using Rhaegar's pet cat as sacrifice, getting a Destined Dragon. I eventually deposed Aerys, got crowned and got more dragon eggs for the children who came, the Velaryons joined a rebellion and as punishment I confiscated their Valyrian Steel blade Seafoam that I got reforged into a dragon theme blade... The possibilities of this mod are incredible.

Although tbh I don’t know anything about the legality but if projects like Skyblivion aren’t a problem then I doubt something like this would be.
@@Soul_Tomato Well Skyblivion has a deal with Bethesda. The deal is that as long as they create their own assets and only let players who have both games play it, then it's fine. So I don't think AGOT mod is a problem.

Mount and Blade Bannerlord can give a good GoT experience with mods, it’s not as fleshed out politically and much more combat-strategy focused, but with the right mods you can have a great experience. Realm of Thrones is the base GoT conversion mod, Player Switcher 2 allows you to play as, Fourberie and Diplomacy improve politics , and you can go nuts with other mods to make it even better. A drawback to RoT is that it starts just before the War of the Five Kings, but a HOTD conversion mod is in development. Definitely a good game/mod if you like the spectacle of a large battle (1000 troops, can be increased with mods), or would like to be more of a military strategist!
Big facts, mount and blade 2 is a great game for mods like that, the Game of thrones, and Warhammer mods are excellent and soon we are getting some great historical mods like Shokuho which is in sengoku period japan. The previous Mount and Blade 1 also has tons of great mods, with awesome mods for Star wars and Lord of the rings
The Bannerlord's mod Realm of Thrones was actually caught stealing assets from AGOT. They stole the Red Rain model then banned people from their discord after they pointed it out, from what I gathered the issue is resolved now but it has made me suspicious of the mod.
I had so much fun with the CK2 AGOT mod. You could play a number dates as far back as the immediate aftermath of the Doom of Valyria, had a full map to pick characters from, and it had so many little neat additive features like those dynastic banks you could found and operate. Even the soundtrack was fire. It is probably one of the best mods ever made for CK2.
It's even better with the new roads to power DLC. I brought back House Reyne and took revenge on all of those filthy corrupt Lannisters. I kidnapped Tywin, and he sat in jail as I murdered his children and sacked his home. House Lannister no longer existed in the westerlands.
i’ve always loved the idea of a Shadow of War esque game set during The War of the Ninepenny Kings as Barristan Selmy. Set exclusively in the Stepstones and in a year that’s a nice timeline sweet spot of being before the main series but also far enough along in the timeline that it still has characters we’d recognize and for dragons to not be a factor.
I'd rather play as a nobody like septon Meribald so you could progress like Henry KCD and in the end help Barristan fight Maelys as a final boss fight. Gods that would be amazing
It acc really funny, all the best thrones games are mods... bannerlord, warband and ck2 oh and total war yet every proper game from a dev was a lazy cash grab except the telltale game Hbo or grrm need to give a major (good) dev studio the chance to make a game in this world it could be so good n make a tonne of money
I have to mention that books describe Storm's End as having three "drum" towers. It predates all surviving in-universe historical records, supposedly being built to withstand wrath of the Sky God an Sea Goddess. (The first Storm King married their daughter, dooming her into mortality. He built several failed castles, Monty Python style, until "Bran the Builder" helped him build the one that still stands.) There's a fan theory that Westeros is actually "post-post-apocalyptical." Storm's End would be a repurposed nuclear power plant, with cooling towers converted into fortifications.
From the wiki: Storm's End has only one tower, a colossal drum tower crowned with formidable battlements, making it look like a huge, spiked fist thrusting towards the sky from afar
You could always play as Mannis while Robert is King, discover the true father of Cersei's children, and then declare war for the Iron Throne after Robert dies
Tbf I don't think Warner would be able to make a game as cool as a mod for ck3 can be. The only other interesting got related game that I can think of is the bigger bannerlord mod for got. This happens a lot when companies buy licenses to make games based on these huge media IPs. The Witcher series is like a rare exception to this rule, Star Wars has a couple of good games that remain relevant with the KOTOR games, but has a ton of trash in between. Lotr also had one or another decent game but much more carried by the IP than anything else. There are officially made got games out there, but most of them suck, the taleworlds one was probably the most interesting but those games were all more visual novel things which only left fans wanting for something more substantial.
This mod has so much detail.. I was doing a playthrough with house Dayne, and not only did they include the sword Dawn, they also included the tradition that only a worthy member of the house can claim it, and when they do they get the title of Sword of the Morning.. And that's just one example, it's mindblowing how much detail they put into this
Be it Mount & Blade this or other games, the reason why modders are often able to make better "games" than some developer is because those games already have such a solid base it is often a huge surprise to me how these companies dont just go to an already made game and instead of making a mod decide to hire them to make an expansion for their already great game that uses their copyright, only difference is that they often overreach with their copyright forbidding certain things from happening that would make gameplay better that modders obviously dont have to abide by.
i put 500 something hours into this game just playing the base game with mods, i didn’t touch it for probably half a year , then i got this mod and now im at 1100 hours and still having fun
@@AndersMurberg We don't need more souls-like games in my opinion lol. Larian and Owlcat seem like the only kids on the block that can make games around A Song of Ice and Fire books/shows go crazy
NGL, this makes me want to give Crusader Kings a try. It always looked too complicated in its depth, but I love the GoT universe. Thanks for the video.
This game and mod in particular has been instrumental to my enjoyment of the franchise as a fan. It is my literal therapy from the disaster that was the final season by creating the ending that I had in my head. It’s now more real than the actual bad fanfiction.
It's unfortunate, but GRRM is the reason AGOT is the best ASOIAF gaming experience we have. You would think that with the success of BG3, GRRM would have his people kicking down Larian's door to bring his world to life as they did for Faerun. Instead, we get more mobile games.....
@@Soul_Tomato Oh yeah, but it definitely puts his priorities into perspective. He didn’t sell the rights to his IP, so he’s got a lot of control over how/through what mediums his work is adapted.
@@SockeySoka I have a lot of opinions about GRRM and his relationship with HBO, but I'll sum it all up by saying this: If dealing with them was so bad during GoT and HoTD, then why does he keep signing contracts with them?
The elder kings mod for CK2 is amazing. Playing as the leaders of the elder scrolls nations/regions is awesome. The 2 best mods for crusader kings are the AGOT and Elder Kings mods
I wish they would just include The War of the Five Kings timestamp. Yes, I know they don't have mechanics for the Others in place, but so what? It's not like the books ever got there anyway aside from The Fight at the Fist. The threat beyond the wall at the time was Mance Raydar's host, just go with that and introduce the White Walkers later. Let people play the characters they're familiar with!
With regular CK3 I really didn’t feel the benefit of the Tours & Tournaments DLC, but as soon as I installed this mod it became significant. Tournaments actually hold a purpose and progress the story. A mod that not only adds features but enhances the pre-existing mechanics and DLC is insane The only nitpick I really had is that playing as Stannis felt weak because you cannot demand conversion. Has this been fixed yet?
Beesbury is a direkt vassal of the Iron throne in that setting because Lyman is the Master of Coin at the moment. Just like The Arbor for example in the Jaehaerys bookmark becauseRedywine is the master of Ships. Automatically reverts when you lose the appointment
why on earth can't we have a proper LOTR/ GOT game? you can go the RTS path, or you can go the Bannerlord path or you can go the Linear/ Hero path, you just can't fail.
Love this mod. When I first discovered it I spent a month straight doing nothing but work and agot. Now if only I could ever get the dance of dragons to actually happen that would be great.
Just did a custom character Adventurer run, settled in the Westerlands after the Baratheons came into power, found out one of the counts of the Stormlands had found a Dragon Egg, promptly stole that, spent a good bit of time trying to hatch it until I finally did it, only losing 2 characters in the process (I did save scum twice when the egg broke because 10,000 Prestige to fabricate a claim and nearly completing a diplomacy focus tree as an intrigue character takes forever). Now I've got three dragons (Brightwing, Lifefyre, and Firestorm) and am hoping to dissolve the Iron Throne when I next play. Though I feel like this recent update nerfed dragons. Even with two dragons I'm losing equally matched battles :/
I had a game of CKAGoT that was really some shit straight outta the books. As lord of Harrenhall, my character managed, through political machinations, and supporting the right people, expand his lands significantly. At the age of 38, the lord I was playing as, however, had no wife, as his first wife had died in childbirth, this changed when he met and married one of the Targaryen King's younger daughters. Despite their age difference of almost 20 years, they ended up having a happy relationship, which did lead onto love. This love, however, was cut short by the blackfyre rebellion which not only toppled the Targaryens, it killed all of their extended family, including the barely 25 year-old princess Rhaenira, married to the lord of Harrenhall. For 20 years, said lord stewed in hatred, as he kept increasing his demesne, taking Riverrun from a particularly incompetent Tully by his 50th birthday. When war came again, the Blackfyre king called upon him, but he raised his flag in rebellion. The 60 year old Lord of Harrenhall, lord protector of the Riverlands, marched into King's landing supported by the forces of the Lannisters after having burned the Vale down to the ground. They would go on to capture the Blackfyre king, but didn't use him as a bargaining chip to end the war. No, his head rolled, the Lord Protectors made sure of it, but before bringing the sword down to his neck, the old riverman lord asked him to send his wife his love. (That last part is my headcanon but it was a fuckin rollercoaster of a game).
I remember back in 2017 I bought my first used PC medieval 2 total war and ck2 were the first games I bought. I have 2k hours on the AGOT mod for ck2. So blessed to be around for such An amazing game and mod.
I'm really tempted to try this... but I'm usually not big on grand strategy games. I don't hate them, sometimes I even love doing all of the management stuff. But I'm a basic bitch, I need some visually impressive battles like Total War to mix it up and keep my interest. But still, I am tempted. Maybe CK3/AGOT can be my grand strategy jam. The setting of Westeros might be all I need to get really hooked.
Then you could try Mount & Blade's mods set in GoT's world. Warband has A Clash of Kings and A World of Ice and Fire, Bannerlord has A Realm of Thrones. Mount & Blade's gameplay lets you play as a character that commands and participates in big battles with troops in real time and you can swap into 3rd person or 1st person view.
This mod and elder kings 2 are probably the biggest mods for ck3. It is absolutely insane how good these mods are that there are some people out there that have never played regular ck3.
The CK2 mod is seriously one of the greatest mods made for any game ever. There is so much content and so much flavour, you can literally spend just as much, if not more time in the mod as you would the base game. It also perfectly capture the feeling of the game for power. CK3 and the CK3 mod are still a bit bare bones compared to CK2, but there is a lot more potential there for what can be done, especially with the new DLC, so I can't wait to see what they create for it.
It really does feel weird that ASOIAF doesn't eye any AAA video games being such a hot franchise. I guess the best I can hope for is a spiritual successor to the Telltale game... made by Supermassive Games.
Currently on book 4 and I wish i had this mod for the last few months.. would have made the whole experience of reading that much more vivid and immersive
It’s annoying though with ck3 that once it updates you have to figure out what the previous version was so you could play Agot still Idk which version was the previous version before the Baiselus update
You don't need to guess the version, the mod itself will show you a little warning icon for which version it's compatible in your Paradox launcher playset.
Honeyholt was directly a vassal of the Iron Throne because Lord Lyman Beesbury is on the small council. There's an interaction between the King and a Lord Paramount where a vassal is retracted and then added to the small council, but Lord Beesbury is a historical instance of this. Same thing with Littlefinger in the Crowned Stag bookmark.
Honeyholt in that start date is NOT included as a vassal of the Reach because Lord Lyman Beesbury was Vizzy's master of coin, you can actually do the same stuff playing as the King and offer the vassal of a vassal a position in your small council, I usually do that with Harrenhal because I end up giving it to a family member XD
Yeah I realized that after. I always forget that’s a thing as I don’t typically play as the iron throne since the game becomes pretty boring when you’re the king
CK was made for this yeah but dont forget about ACoK for Mount and Blade Warband and Realm of Thrones for Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. They are amazing ASOIAF mods that offer a different perspective but checks a lot of the same boxes as CK2 and CK3.
I was really into the GoT books. Even before the show it was one of my favorite series. That was so long ago, though, that I think it's a good idea to consider moving on from it. At least as far as the books being finished. I don't think Martin is going to finish them. I'm even hesitant to say it'd be a nice surprise because I don't see it happening ever. I'm a fan of GRRM more so than a GoT fan these days so I'm happy with whatever he puts out.
I played CK3 AGOT even before I started playing vanilla. The one thing I don't really enjoy is that most tech trees are fully discovered for all "modern" cultures.
Unrelated to the content of the video but the absolute SHOCK I felt when I heard Shana's Lullaby in the background on this, good lord that took me back awhile lmao
There's a new start year with the landless update for this mod and I did a double take on how much Walder Frey has been around for and just doesn't get involved in. Really developed a love/hate relationship with the character since playing because I kind of respect it. Still going to steal The Twins from him though 😂
I love strategy games, but have bounced off Crusader King's the few times I've tried to get into it. Maybe I just didn't give it enough time. This mod really makes me want to try again
I look forward to the decision of Andals reclaiming their homeland of Andalos and their Holy site of the Seven Hills. I think the Crusader Mechanics could be useful in this situation. The Iron Throne having the decision to launch a crusade if they have favorable opinion with the High Septon, etc.
You don't actually have to character swap to see diffrent rulers royal courts. You can just click on their inventory next to their portrait and in there is a button to enter the royal court.
Don't undersell the TellTale game. It's incredibly well done and does a great job expanding the scope of the show in a very faithful way. The character's and story are as well written as their book/show counterparts and it even features some of the show's main actors who do a fantastic job as VAs when they could have so easily have phoned in their performances. If you want to scratch that ASOIAF itch and don't want to rewatch or reread anything it is well worth a play.
Skyrim would simply not have had the success it had if GoT hadn't been so popular. Yes Oblivion sold well, bu no where near the levels that Skyrim did, and continues to
I remember hearing about those a while back and I bought CKII all hyped up to play this. Then the Last season of GOT was released, and it killed any motivation I had to set this up.

You could always play as Mannis while Robert is King, discover the true father of Cersei's children, and then declare war for the Iron Throne after Robert dies
@MorphyVA this is indeed a good route
There's a submod called AGOT Bookmarks and adds the War of the 5 kings bookmark, Aegon's conquest, and the first blackfyre rebellion
1:36 gotta blame Warner for this they hold the rights and could get a game made but they dont care all we get is arya stark in multiverses
Damn copyright holders
Honeyholt was by itself because Lord Lyman is Vizzy T's master of coin, so he is a direct vassal
Ahhhh that makes sense
Some companies have done this, in fact PoD is basically a sanctioned mod for Paradox since they own the IP
i put 500 something hours into this game just playing the base game with mods, i didn’t touch it for probably half a year , then i got this mod and now im at 1100 hours and still having fun
Knocking it out of the park Soul, these mods deserve all the exposure and love they can get.
I am here to deliver the word of the developers
As someone who genuinely likes the IP..... Thank fucking god no AAA studio tried to make a game. Like all the gods, from Allah to Zenithar.
I would love to see an owlcat or Larian rpg tbh
@@Soul_Tomato Only ones i trust personally, except Fromsoft haha, but i don't imagine they would make a GoT game
@@AndersMurberg We don't need more souls-like games in my opinion lol. Larian and Owlcat seem like the only kids on the block that can make games around A Song of Ice and Fire books/shows go crazy
Acolmiztli and Živa don't like getting excluded. :P
@@Soul_Tomato Same, I'm just glad they're making turn based tactical RPGs in general. Another Pathfinder or one set in AGOT, I'd be happy with either.
It’s always so cool to see the fruits of some modder’s passion come to fruition in a gorgeous way like this
NGL, this makes me want to give Crusader Kings a try.
Mobile games do rack in the dough. Can’t blame him in that regard
@@Soul_Tomato Oh yeah, but it definitely puts his priorities into perspective. He didn’t sell the rights to his IP, so he’s got a lot of control over how/through what mediums his work is adapted.
After his thoughts towards HOTD I'd be surprised if he ever feels confident enough in anyone to "officially" turn his world into a game.
@@SockeySoka I have a lot of opinions about GRRM and his relationship with HBO, but I'll sum it all up by saying this:
If dealing with them was so bad during GoT and HoTD, then why does he keep signing contracts with them?
Larian does not have the writing chops to handle this setting.
This mod is the only reason I bought Ck3. I'm about 150h in and I'm obsessed now.
My personal favorite submod is colonizable Valyria
Haven’t tried that one yet but it looks very promising
The elder kings mod for CK2 is amazing. Playing as the leaders of the elder scrolls nations/regions is awesome. The 2 best mods for crusader kings are the AGOT and Elder Kings mods
I wish they would just include The War of the Five Kings timestamp. Yes, I know they don't have mechanics for the Others in place, but so what? It's not like the books ever got there anyway aside from The Fight at the Fist. The threat beyond the wall at the time was Mance Raydar's host, just go with that and introduce the White Walkers later. Let people play the characters they're familiar with!
It’ll come eventually. They’ve done a ton already. I wouldn’t doubt if, after they finish Braavos, they work to adding it.
They'll need to release up to Qarth in Essos before doing the War of the 5 king start date.
CK2 AGOT is fully done with all scenarios I still play it 4000 hours in and I've still never seen the same thing happen twice.
With regular CK3 I really didn’t feel the benefit of the Tours & Tournaments DLC, but as soon as I installed this mod it became significant. Tournaments actually hold a purpose and progress the story. A mod that not only adds features but enhances the pre-existing mechanics and DLC is insane
The only nitpick I really had is that playing as Stannis felt weak because you cannot demand conversion. Has this been fixed yet?
I believe he can now? when was that?
@ last time I played this mod was like back in February
I always played CK2 only with this mod, it was so much fun to make Robb Stark win the war, the dream of every member of the "Stark Team"
Nice Age of Mythology soundtrack!
Bro hit me with age of mythology music
Sounds like a blast but yes wars were changed with the dlc. Could need some fixing dragon wise
Agot is the GOAT
Can’t spell one without the other
I remember back in 2017 I bought my first used PC medieval 2 total war and ck2 were the first games I bought.
The setting of Westeros might be all I need to get really hooked.
as an addict of this game, I highly recommend it 😊
Then you could try Mount & Blade's mods set in GoT's world.
An honourable mention for the mount and blade warband GOT mods as well. Also some great ways to experience that world
Was 95% sure it was the CK mod, but was ready to be surprised. CK is awesome and heartily agree with this assessment.
got to love this mod it got me soo into game of thrones and history it’s self !
Thanks for making a video of this. Never played CK, but I think I might have to pick up CK3 now!
I'm so addicted to this mod it's insane especially after the landless ruler addition
A man of taste. Love the Dark Cloud music (17.15) 😇
It’s annoying though with ck3 that once it updates you have to figure out what the previous version was so you could play Agot still
Idk which version was the previous version before the Baiselus update
@@Soul_Tomato Yeah no I'm in the same boat lol, I don't think I've played a single game I haven't started as a landless ruler since rtp came out
CK was made for this yeah but dont forget about ACoK for Mount and Blade Warband and Realm of Thrones for Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord. They are amazing ASOIAF mods that offer a different perspective but checks a lot of the same boxes as CK2 and CK3.
4:18 AOM music or am I tripping? Love that
Like the AoE2 songs you are putting in the videos
I can see myself using the experiences in this game to inspire my Fanfiction writing...
0:30 Skyrim dropped right after the first season in a crescendo of fantasy for us all
"There is a new landless adventure dlc!!"
"Nah...im fine with this mod"
You can be landless in the mod now actually. Was added a few days ago.
@@Soul_Tomato can a dragon rider be a adventurer? But i think i still like just sit on iron throne
I’m pretty sure they can
Shoutout to the Skies of Arcadia soundtrack! Truly a man of culture!
I want a remaster of that game so bad
Realm of Thrones, a Mount & Blade Bannerlord mod, is also pretty neat.
I played CK3 AGOT even before I started playing vanilla. The one thing I don't really enjoy is that most tech trees are fully discovered for all "modern" cultures.
Counterpoint: A Clash of Kings mod for Mount & Blade: Warband
The amount of book worldbuilding lore that was put into it is simply astounding.
Unrelated to the content of the video but the absolute SHOCK I felt when I heard Shana's Lullaby in the background on this, good lord that took me back awhile lmao
There is also a digital version of the AGoT Table Top Game on Steam. Which is an amazing game if you have enough friends and time.
Some excellent background footage at 3:00.
Glad you caught that 😏 thanks again for letting me use it.
A World Of Ice And Fire, on Mount & Blade Warband is also a very good game of thrones styled game/mod
There's a new start year with the landless update for this mod and I did a double take on how much Walder Frey has been around for and just doesn't get involved in.
Really developed a love/hate relationship with the character since playing because I kind of respect it. Still going to steal The Twins from him though 😂
i remember there was also a GoT mod for Mount&Blade:Warband and it was sooo cool back then
I love strategy games, but have bounced off Crusader King's the few times I've tried to get into it.
True. But I am a stubborn tomato
You should make a video playing as the landless Blackfyre
I will def do that eventually
@@Soul_Tomato good because I’m getting my ass kicked over here
Don't undersell the TellTale game.
Bro, mad shoutouts at the soundtrack to this video
Too kind
unavoidable as a fan honestly
everytime you use age of mythology music in your vids I get transported back to when I was a kid lol. Good times.
lol it’s the same for me, trust
This is literally the best game I own in my opinion. I have more than 500 hours just playing this mod, is absolutely amazing!
CKII AGOT is my Roman Empire. Been addicted for years 💚🐲⚔️🛡️
While I love the AGOT mod, i also think the mount and blade Song of ice and fire mod is also great.
Indeed it is
I thought the ASOIAF mods for Mount and Blade Warband and Bannerlord went deep, but this one is overwhelming
Skyrim would simply not have had the success it had if GoT hadn't been so popular. Yes Oblivion sold well, bu no where near the levels that Skyrim did, and continues to
You can see the throne room of other kings by cliking on his portrait them on the upper left buttom with the symbol of a throne
I love how Oblivion-Music just dropped into the video out of nowhere, lol
That’s how we do it
@@Soul_Tomato Good
Rimworld is also starting to get a so´solid collection of GOT mods, if you want a smaller scale simulation of one keep.
I remember hearing about those a while back and I bought CKII all hyped up to play this. Then the Last season of GOT was released, and it killed any motivation I had to set this up.
CK2 agot is an amazing mod I easily poured hundreds of hours into that mod but haven’t tried the ck3 one yet
The Oblivion music got me
The dark cloud music! 16:55
I would just love a game that goes across the game like a story, or a Lego game for ASOIAF, I would love a game that just goes through canon
I would love to see a ck3 mod based on the world beyond the ice walls
You can play beyond the wall in AGOT actually
There are submods with later start days. I'm sure one which fleshes out that area will come at some point.
