Having played more of this on stream, I have to say that this is my favorite game right now. I've heard that going for 100% completion is incredibly difficult, so you bet your ass I'll be going for that.

6:31 is excellent game design right there. The obvious open slot makes you think "hey I should make a double log", which then leads to you discovering how to make a platform, with no explanation required.
I've been nothing but impressed with the level design so far, it constantly feels like the devs are flexing on us and I love it

@@ZealanTanner 9:10 is such a powerful moment. You wouldn't know there was only 1 option at first glance, so when u push off, it surprises you, then the logo shows up, and it just coveys its just the beginning and there's so much more to explore

Monster's Expedition is just the Witness without panels
9:10 talk about beautiful game design and an excellent way to teach a new mechanic. This entire video is full of these moments, like at 6:31, but 9:10 just takes the cake for being the best and also, having that moment of realisation whilst also watching the intro screen show up whilst you watch new land/content show up is amazing.

Watching the trailer I was really skeptical as to how good this game could be. Seemed like such a straight forward mechanic that's been explored before.
Watching this video, I realize now that there are people who are way smarter than me and that even the simplest mechanics can have incredible depth. Incredible game.

from the first 60 seconds this feels a lot like stevens sausage roll
that was my inital thought, it's similar (plaques, open world, pushing things) but a lot different (controls, style, goal, mechanics themselves)
It does remind me a lot of that game, especially how levels are set up so you discover new mechanics without being explained to you, like in 9:09
As someone who's gotten to the end of the game although far from 100% it, it's a lot like SSR but it has a much slower buildup of difficulty.
I've never heard of that game, makes me think of bloxors I think it's how you spell it from Cool Math games. But I'm not as into the puzzle community as I'd imagine most people who watch this channel are.

Literally just passed this up in steam, after learning it was from the creator of cosmic express I'm glad I did because- let's be honest, I'd never finish.
I love how chill this is. Like, our little monster boi is just going around a people museum reading plaques and sailing around on rafts, it's super tone.
I keep finding myself coming back to this series. It's not the greatest puzzle game ever, but I find it to be the most quintessential Aliensrock viewing experience.

Holy cow... its been 3 years already??? I remember myself EAGERLY waiting for the next episode because I'd finish the latest episode as soon as it was uploaded, lol. There was just something so fun and enjoyable about watching Tyler play this, haha. It was really great. :)

I can't even bring myself to imagine how to make the raft paths not interfere with islands without messing up the log bridges and progression.

I really like the sound design of this game. It reminds me of Breath of the Wild, simplistic, yet calming and really fitting for this type of gameplay.
Paytrick I love how the music is played when you play-it’s not just in the background, it’s commenting on what you’re doing as it happens.

god this game design is just soooo fucking good, the tutorial alone leading up to that first raft push is just flawless, have never seen a puzzle game so well designed and i just love it so much

@@OrchidAlloy I have accidentally discovered a horrifying horrifying mechanic where you can push logs from one level to another level and when you restart that log is still there. I have not seen it used yet. I am terrified of the day when it will come into play.

I've been playing through it, it's awesome so far, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to handle the inevitable ramp up in difficulty, nor some of the unexpected mechanical extensions of the core premise.
The aesthetics are incredible! can’t wait to see more. Unfortunate that the editing is more disruptive due to the changing light but it’s alright.
I gotta admit, when I saw this on Steam I thought, “Open world? What’s the point when these islands are so small?” but it actually looks very interesting.

This looks like it was heavily inspired by Stevens sausage roll; a really complex puzzle game with a weird aesthetic. Highly worth your time to crease your noggin over.
