    White and matte black are the easiest ways to look chic without breaking the bank. And then if the bride wants to do an over the top colorful dress, it'll pop more with the decor.

    I recently realized that I like a white and black color scheme for a wedding. This would work out great as its easy to match all the shades of black and white. Great to hear white is more common and cheaper.

    I remember somewhere on TV I saw a wedding where everything was white themed, all the guest wore white and the the bride appeared in a GORGEOUS red wedding dress looking like a queen 👑❤

    You can always do white and a splash of an accent color

    I did a "the color doesn't matter" wedding. I used the simple but elegant plates, cutlery, etc. that the venue offered, including the not-my-favorite dark mauve chairs. Whatever. The centerpieces were large glass bowls the venue had filled with water and floating votive candles. Lovely and CHEAP. They also allowed the guests to see across the table, even the children. That mattered to me. I took the bridesmaids to Ann Taylor in January to pick out clearance sale cocktail dresses for our evening late September wedding in a fancy downtown dinner club/hotel. Think elegant but not really conducive to frilly chiffon gowns from the bridal store. They found lovely burgundy velvet cocktail dresses. Fitted, sexy-but-not-too-sexy, very inexpensive, no ruffles. Lol $100ish each? For dresses they could wear again to a business dinner with a blazer or a Christmas party with metallic heel. The only flowers I had were between the cake layers (picked to match the randomly chosen dresses), my bouquet and wedding party bouquets and boutonnieres. I have been complimented on the elegance of our wedding over and over for the past 24 years. Understated and under budget, baby. The food was neither. My parents wanted awesome food so that was spendy...but they paid for it. 😂

  • @12Sanguine
    @12Sanguine ปีที่แล้ว +36

    So true! Not in my case though. If you're looking to save money on your venue and going for a non-traditional space, in most cases the decor is not wedding specific and already has a lot going on, so it might turn out cheaper to just go with what's existing. Maybe that's just because I'm in London, UK and finding an all-white venue is several thousand more expensive than a regular venue.

    • @dontworryitsdi
      @dontworryitsdi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      typically where i live venues will have a few different 'house' options (which definitely include white) or the wedding party is welcome to being their own color decoré

    • @12Sanguine
      @12Sanguine ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dontworryitsdi bringing decor - yes, of course. I just meant that sometimes the walls are coloured, there's hanging artwork, coloured window treatments or something like that that you can't change. 🙂

      Here wedding venues are pretty "blank canvas". Of course the interior of my venue wasn't all white but the wall colour and floor colour didn't matter at all. I rented white chair covers, table cloths, ceiling swag. Boom, the wedding decor is white! Lol

    Honestly, the color scheme obsession i see in US weddings I've not seen anywhere else. Why should your wedding have a matchy/matchy "color scheme"? Just pick a beautiful venue (castle, garden, farmhouse, vineyard...) and let the location color scheme speak for itself

    Honestly I wish I could of gotten married at my childhood park. During golden hours, near the river. Wearing a summer wedding dress and half and inch heels. With my mom’s cooking and only invited 30 people. Im not in debt but going over the top is so exhausting and years later you end up cringing your ugly photos

      Me either. I mean, I *could* but my family would question it because I didn’t follow tradition. I lived with my fiancé before marriage so I can do off-white or ivory, or a color, but white would be frowned upon.
      Then again, at the end of the day, it’s MY day so if I really wanted white, no one would argue it too too much. It’s the weird limbo between tradition and modern lol I’ll get some looks but no one will scorn me
