- The 3DS has the best graphics in my view so far!
This will be the last Mario Kart 7 video that I will be posting. Overall this was an ok game. It was a downstep in comparison to the DS and Wii version due to no versus mode and the insainly long time it took to unlock kart parts. Hopefully they fixed that issue in Mario Kart 8! I still had a great time with this game and I highly recommend it!

To me it has by far the best choice of retro tracks, but at the same time it seems too good, they took the best from each game, but didn’t leave enough of the fan favourites for future games.

The future games can still remake the same tracks. It's not like they can't be reused again

@@nordic1237 there’s a new nitro track on tour that released today actually. It’s a wario themed dojo course called Ninja Hideaway. There was also a christmas themed snow mountain called Merry Mountain. All the other brand new tracks are based on real places

MK7 is gonna be a decade old, I was only 9 years old when it released, I used to play Mario Kart Wii all the time and I felt old playing the Wii retro tracks on MK7 even though I was still in elementary school, I even felt old playing the 3DS retro tracks on MK8

I wished that Mario Kart 7 has VS Mode. It has such an amazing track selection. I would’ve played the hell out of it if it included VS Mode in the first place. I think Mario Kart 7 needs a deluxe version on the Switch with HD graphics, Waluigi added, and VS Mode.
I agree with you! Mario kart seven should absolutely have a versus mode.
@@JoshuaDD-nc3oz It would’ve been so much fun and my favorite game tied with Mario Kart Double Dash and Mario Kart DS. I know that Double Dash didn’t have VS Mode probably due to having only 16 tracks.

Amazing Mario kart 7 got so close to the retro tracks that’s a plus and a few add ons so I love Mario kart 7 plus in my opinion has the best retro tracks.

@@selinaogorman8380 I prefer when they make the retro tracks actually feel like new tracks because sometimes that's what the original developers intentions.
One example is Ribbon Road from GBA, in its mugshot you can see a floating ribbon road like the want we got in MK8, in the original this was imposible due to hardware limitations.
I would’ve played the hell out of them if it had VS Mode.

This is apparently done on an emulator, which may also explain the audio slowing down and speeding up at times.
I honestly find it funny how in Mario Kart DS the GCN tracks were criticized and in Mario Kart 7 the Wii tracks were criticized.
I don’t mind the MK7 versions of the Wii tracks, they just felt weird without the halfpipes.
I had no issues with the 3ds versions of Mushroom Gorge, Cocunut Mall, or Maple Treeway. However, I think they botched Koopa Cafe in removing the stream and the electrical things from the tube, it made that section less exciting

Mushroom Gorge got Yoshi Circuit treatment
The other 2 got Luigi Circuit treatment
mk7 has the best retro karts in every mario kart game

9 years since it released and i still think it has the best version of SNES rainbow road track

Well, here is my personal opinion on the 3DS Wii retros:
Mushroom Gorge: Only one that was improved as a track, but it was more fun on the Wii 8/10
Coconut Mall: Ruined, the colors look better but all the life was sucked out of the original 3/10
Koopa Cave: Not ruined to be honest, the pipe section is still pretty cool, but it was better on the Wii both Gameplay and Track wise 7/10
Maple Treeway: Same level as the Wii honestly, and in my opinion it actually plays better on the 3DS 8/10
What do you mean about coconut mall being lifeless?
While I really like the selection of retro tracks in Mario Kart 7, I think retro track representation is very unbalanced. GBA only got one course, whereas DS and Wii got 4.
They should’ve added a bit more GBA courses, so that way, some of the Wii courses would’ve been saved for MK8. But then again, they probably wanted to save the best GBA courses for MK8 to receive dramatic remakes.

Every new Mario Kart game always take 4 tracks from the previous instalment. So Mario Kart 7 having 4 Wii tracks makes sense.
@@Arkhamman2023 but in Mario Kart 8 N64 got 4 tracks while the others didn’t (at first)
DS had 4 from each, which is fair and consistent. But due to Wii having to fit in DS tracks, they had to cut some SNES and GBA ones out which is understandable as those tracks are usually flat and boring compared to the tracks in later games.
7 brought back 4 from DS and Wii, which made people think that there was some sort of pattern with the retro tracks, Nintendo had to make room for Wii tracks, so another GBA track was cut, alongside an N64 and 2 GCN tracks.
Mario Kart 8 completely ignored that old pattern, and despite Wii and 7 being the two most recent predecessors, they only got 2 and 3 tracks respectively, at least before the original DLC came out.
Nintendo used to care more about consistency with what retro tracks were chosen, now they just add whatever they feel like, whether it's a fan favourite or a random dud to throw everyone off.
The characters in Mario Kart that made the Rainbow Route were three, those three characters were Mario, Rosalina and Toad
Originally, before wave 2 was announced, I thought all 15 retro tracks of Mario kart 7 will be in the booster course pass by the end of this year. Now, I'm hoping for gcn daisy cruiser, gcn dino dingo jungle, Wii Koopa cape, and ds airship fortress to make it in

coconut mall just got completely butchered in 7 and 8, it went from this stunning looking track that was fun and bustling to a closed mall, with everything fun about the original completely gone

I think the glider in coconut mall was unnecessary. Would’ve been better as just a jump. Honestly a few of the glider sections in the retro courses would have been better as they were originally.

This is what I dislike about MK7:
-There is not much choices when building your vehicle
-Balloon battle and coin runners is not as fun as the DS
-Hardly any fun or great characters
that we know, love and grew up with are here to play as
-Got rid of the half pipes for the wii retros
-Got rid of maple treeway’s wavy bridge and have you fly instead
-Added Waluigi pinball, BUT NO WALUIGI!! 😭
-Last but not least, NO VERSUS MODE!! 😡
This has got to be my least favorite Mario Kart out of all the ones I love and grew up playing.
