The N64 tracks have always remained nostalgic to me. But I can't shake off the feeling that the SNES tracks looked...bigger and easier in Mario Kart Wii.
I feel the same about the retro tracks in mario kart 8. They made the tracks wider to fit 12 players. The difference is the controls. Mario kart 8 is a very easy controlling game whereas mario kart wii takes more skill and the drifting is a bit more loose.
The very slight graphical upgrade of the gamecube tracks isn't worth the trade off of losing a 2nd rider. So for my money, double dash. Wii looks blurry aswell, maybe my nostalgia glasses are on too tight
@Tim Reiner I have nothing against you or your opinion But I must defend my boi MKWII... The 2 characters in one kart was good, but if it returned in any other mario kart- what would make Double Dash unique? MKWII came out only 4 years after Double Dash, and nearly improved in every area. MKWII is considered a fan favorite along with DS, but Wii is considered the best mario kart, because of shortcuts, ultra shortcuts, competition, online, nostalgia, the soundtrack, the racetracks, and so much more Double Dash was the first fully 3D cgi mario kart, and the graphics are I'd say just as good as Mkwii's, I wouldn't really say they were better. Double Dash is one of my favorites, and I'd even say it's the 4th best mario kart, and I am not just being biased for MkWii. Let me just say it simple: 9: Super Mario Kart 8: Mario Kart Super Circuit 7: Mario Kart 8 6: Mario Kart 64 5: Mario Kart 7 4: Mario Kart Double Dash 3: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe 2: Mario Kart DS 1: Mario Kart Wii Though Double Dash and 8 Deluxe could be interchangeable imo Also I love all mario karts. But Wii. Different story.
I think Wii improved the DS tracks so much desert hills doesn't suck anymore, and same for yoshi falls Delfino Square now became my official favorite retro track and Peach Gardens feels more like a track that was nitro in MKW more than retro,it just fits too much
What I like is for all the flat tracks (except Mario Circuit 3) they kinda changed a couple aspects without changing it too much (the way the item boxes are set and the shortcut now being a trick ramp since theres no feather item in Ghost Valley 2, the cannonballs staying for a while before exploding in Shy Guy Beach, and the items coming out of the lava and the epic remix in Bowser Castle 3)
Super Mario kart: SNES Ghost valley 2 SNES Mario circuit 3 Mario kart 64: N64 Mario raceway N64 Sherbet land N64 DK's jungle parkway N64 Bowsers castle Mario kart super circuit: GBA Shy guy beach GBA Bowser castle 3 Mario kart double dash: GCN Peach beach GCN Waluigi stadium GCN Mario circuit GCN DK Mountain Mario kart DS: DS Yoshi falls DS Delfino square DS Desert hills DS Peach gardens
The graphics on Mario Kart Wii are barely better than Mario Kart Double Dash. I wished the Wii had graphics like the PS3 and Xbox 360 instead of the GameCube, PS2, and Xbox.

I love how the SNES and N64 track themes sound so close to the originals but just higher quality in MKWii.

He literally just drove into a penguin how the hell the game thinks you can’t save ghost data now
Because running over a penguin = sinner
I'd assume, because the penguins aren't always the same and it'd look weird, if the ghost bumped into nothing, when you play against it.
Mario Kart Wii brought back:
SNES - Ghost Valley 2 (Shell), Mario Circuit 3 (Lightning)
N64 - Mario Raceway (Shell), Sherbet Land (Banana), DK's Jungle Parkway (Leaf), Bowser's Castle (Lightning)
GBA - Shy Guy Beach (Banana), Bowser Castle 3 (Leaf)
GCN - Peach Beach (Shell), Waluigi Stadium (Banana), Mario Circuit (Leaf), DK Mountain (Lightning)
DS - Yoshi Falls (Shell), Delfino Square (Banana), Desert Hills (Leaf), Peach Gardens (Lightning)
Practically everyone has said the Wii graphics are better than the gamecube.
Barely better
I see
I never had a GameCube so I don’t know what to say
They lied…
Mario Galaxy looks great, but Mario Kar Wii doesn't look as good as sunshine or double cash which isn't even that good of a Dd look
The very slight graphical upgrade of the gamecube tracks isn't worth the trade off of losing a 2nd rider. So for my money, double dash. Wii looks blurry aswell, maybe my nostalgia glasses are on too tight
That’s a very interesting viewpoint. Thank you for sharing!

6: Mario Kart 64
5: Mario Kart 7
4: Mario Kart Double Dash
3: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2: Mario Kart DS

Though Double Dash and 8 Deluxe could be interchangeable imo
Also I love all mario karts. But Wii. Different story.
Mario kart Wii And Ds Are the best
I think Wii improved the DS tracks so much
desert hills doesn't suck anymore, and same for yoshi falls
Delfino Square now became my official favorite retro track
and Peach Gardens feels more like a track that was nitro in MKW more than retro,it just fits too much
Desert Hills is still one of the worst tracks in Mario Kart Wii
Yoshi falls is still boring they just desaturated the colours lol
Mario circuit 3 feels so weird, I have faint memories of mario on the standard bike wheeleeing down the road
I mean there are those oil slicks and that speed boost in Mario Circuit 3
This is the best retro selection in the series.
*Mario Kart 7:*
@ Overrated
@@CaptainRillaboomArmenia Ngl, though Mario Kart Wii is by far my favorite game, 7 is quite underrated in my opinion
@ Underrated doesn’t fit 7 anymore. Since 2022-2023, people started to realize it’s actually great.
Super Mario kart:
SNES Ghost valley 2
SNES Mario circuit 3
Mario kart 64:
N64 Mario raceway

N64 Bowsers castle
Mario kart super circuit:

Mario kart double dash:

GCN Waluigi stadium
GCN Mario circuit
GCN DK Mountain
Mario kart DS:
DS Yoshi falls
DS Delfino square
DS Desert hills
DS Peach gardens
Peach’s Garden looks kinda dry on Wii compared to DS, too much yellow

And nintendo wishes they made better wii graphics as well
If the game is fun, graphics don’t matter that much.
Well, they should've just used a different art style to make Mario Kart Wii look different from Double Dash.
