No problem! I've seen videos in the past that informed my purchasing decisions too, not many publishers let you know what you're actually buying. Artbooks can vary a lot, so glad I could help with the video. There's a lot of artbooks out there worthy of your money though!
It's fascinating to see the Tarnished wearing the iron set in all this concept art despite the armor not being used in any promo art nor in a default class in the game. Every default class armor is only available through merchants and the iron set too! Which tells me it was supposed to be used in a default class in-game. Sorry for my weird observation!
I really wish that they printed these books in landscape instead of portrait so there wouldn't be a seam in the middle of the artwork. Just a full page for each piece.
Double page spreads are best done landscape or in books that have less pages, less is lost in the centre fold then. In the case of the Elden Ring books and given the huge amount of wasted space, they should have done 1 volume and put 4 images across the pages to make use of the space. FromSoftware tend to stick to Udon as their publisher and this has always been the format. So no idea what they were thinking with the image layouts here
@@TheArtbookCollector I wouldn't mind it being printed in landscape and having 1 full page dedicated towards the art piece. Could also leave the opposite page open for artist commentary if they ever went that direction. I would love to hear what the artists have to say on the piece and what direction Fromsoft gave them for the artwork as well as maybe some first draft attempts. The book price would definitely increase but Id say its worth it.
@theunikronus7204 unfortunately FromSoftware don't have commentary in any of their artbooks. They aren't 'art of' books like most, more illustration books, as you don't tend to get the early concepts and ideas. Landscape or oversized would have been better, but for what you get, I think they are overpriced compared to what other books offer. Lots of pages though, but the dimensions are actually a little smaller than a standard artbook. I dread to think what they would charge if they went that direction
This looks astonishing, don't get me wrong. But tbh I would prefer a sort of manual/bestiary. I mean an artbook full of concept art (maybe different development sketches) and description/lore. While this is just cool drawings basically :/ If I remember correctly "dark souls: design works" was something similar to what I'm referring to. Much more interesting imo
FromSoftware don't tend to do too much in the way of early designs, notes or unused concepts. This is much more of an illustration book like you say. Hopefully they make a change in the future as I'm sure there is a lot of cool stuff to see
@@TheArtbookCollector yeah, especially when the elusive dlc will come out perhaps. By the way, if you're interested, I suggest the "wanderer journal" book from hollow knight. I think that, despite having an obviously simpler design, it's a very intriguing way of making an artbook. It has a bit of lore and descriptions, making it more of a long lost guide-book on the world it's depicting. Plus I like the cute artstyle. Something like that with the more complex art of an elden ring would be an absolute marvel, not gonna lie. Anyway thank you for these videos, they are really helpful to get an idea on what's actually in the book (these are more like collectionables/items than books, so not being able to know exactly what you're getting can be a bit discouraging)
@@vhals2052 I know that there are guides/ lore for Elden Ring across 2 volumes that may be what you are after. I don't tend to pick up those types of books myself. I already have so many books, I wouldn't have space for those if I did! Not a problem, thanks for watching! I used videos like this myself many years back in the early days of collecting. thank you, thank you so much... idc if this is an exaggeration but man, thank you... for people like me who lived in 3rd world country, this book is REALLY EXPENSIVE... it is the same amount as my living expenses in 1 month... thank you for sharing it...
Hi, thanks for watching and glad I could help you see the book. I always promote buying the books that are available, but no book should be out of reach due to cost. Sorry to hear that is the situation where you are, I hope I share more in future that people like yourself can enjoy when there is no other way to see them 😊
It looks like they've spent 2 days making that... I think I can legit make it in 2 days myself. Absolutely disappointing from whoever thought it was a good idea to copy paste images onto a slideshow and print it into pages...
The problem with the 2 volumes is that they are thick, even if you open them completely flat, detail is lost in the fold. It was a poor decision to do it in books with smaller dimensions, but higher page counts They should have done 2 per page, made it one volume and not wasted so much space
It's certainly not what most other books are, it consists of illustrations of the final designs only. Would have been nice to see unused concepts and early designs
It's pretty normal for FromSoftware, but here they wasted space to justify 2 volumes. I wasn't impressed and will borrow a copy of Vol 3 rather than buy
Lovely book, I wish there were descriptions or commentary from the artists/directors in there!
Unfortunately not a thing you get with a FromSoft artbook. It's been brought up a lot online, hopefully they take note for the next one!
Thank you so much. These books are no longer available in my country so your flip throughs are great alternatives!
I'm sorry to hear you can't get a copy. Glad you are able to see the art though, thanks for watching!
Thank you for your videos. I would have felt disappointed if I went ahead and bought it. You saved me $80

@TheArtbookCollector yes it came in today now I have all 4 elden ring books
@Wishmaster65 that's awesome! I only have the 2 for Elden Ring. Hoping they do one for Armored Core to

hi is this also the same with the japanese text and not godfrey on cover?
These are the same, but are also hardcovers as well as having different cover art

No need to buy all 4, the English editions are better just for the hardcovers

Most images on 2 pages with middle cut unseen. Not good.
Bad format for a book not opening flat.

Agreed. The vol 2 seems to be much better, but still not quite what I night have wanted from an artbook that's more expensive than the game..
Exaclty, imagine paying a paycheck to buy a bunch of A.I art in a paper. Not even appendices. 0 love for fans, which im not surprised with it.

They have the Elden Ring Strategy guide if you want that
