I feel like I could look through the art books of games I've never played and still really enjoy it, like I'd get the same enjoyment I get from watching a let's play. fake gamers 🤝 game collectors

I LOVE art books, especially when it comes to concept art and high quality art of the characters.
Idk if this counts as an art book but I own both of the Um Jammer Lammy guidebooks and they’re so nice. I love looking through the character sketches and learning a bit more about the characters (despite most of it being in Japanese, which is a bummer) while also looking at some behind the scenes stuff for the game. It’s really fascinating and I love the books to death!
The Um Jammer Lammy: Rammy guidebook has to be my favorite one as Rammy is my favorite character and it’s nice that she has her own book (despite Parappa looking massive in the cover art for it, which they probably did that so it could get more sales since Parappa is popular in Japan). Plus it goes into a deep dive of each of the side characters that appeared in UJL (Parappa, PJ, Sunny, etc.) and even got their own sections too! Here’s a little fun fact too; when you open the book you are greeted with a folded up paper that’s attached to a page of the book, and when you unfold it it shows Rammy getting faxed out of the machine! I just think it’s neat and funny that they would add that.

8:22 I love this thing so much
I think all games should have a "text gallery" where you can re-read all the text you already see and gave you some hints about text you still need to find

To me they represent the patron and work and sweat these people put in the game, I love the books I have and I hope they will keep making more.

Nice to see more people appreciating video game art books TwT I have the same problems mentioned with my KH “art books” which sucks considering how much I love Tetsuya’s illustrations and process ,, I see bits all over the internet but having a dedicated book of his works on KH I would love

Nice to see that I'm not the only one with an obscene amount of art books in their collection. I have started seeking out ebooks when available since moving is a huge hassle and the books take up a decent amount of space, but there's something about tangible art books that makes me want physical copies even if I have the electronic version...
    Thanks for sharing!

You’re missing the series that might have some of the best ever made. Metal Gear Solid, those books are fantastic.

Quality content once again. I've never been an artbook collector for video games, but I have grabbed a few collections for Comics and it's the same vibe honestly. Also if you're getting rid of books, donate them. To me or a library, doesn't matter hahaha

I spent the miserable week after my tonsillectomy reading the Zelda Encyclopedia and it's probably the art book/info book I have the most fond memories of. I also distinctly remember the day I got Hyrule Historia in the mail way back. And speaking of Kirby, the 20th anniversary package for that little guy was just bonkers good in virtually every way. I remember forcing my mom to play the soundtrack CD in the car one time.

In this world, there are two kinds of videogame art books. There's the tiny leaflets put last-minute into a game case as a pre-order bonus that only contain a few png's from the game, and then there are the huge, limited edition, limited run, "limited for everyone, ladies" encyclopedia's detailing every passing thought the designers had and costs more than the game and the DLC combined. I'm not saying one is bad, but the other is marriage material, that's for sure.

Hey you did well to get to 1100 on remembering the kanji. Shame your trip to Japan with school got cancelled. That could be what killed your motivation also studying Japanese is tough. I really hope you give it another go. Apply for the jet program at least go back packing around Japan for a few months. On the gaming I have a switch you should get one too with nintendo online and the new model coming up

i collect some art books for cartoons and animated movies, and love the quality dark horse put into go team venture (their venture bros book) ^_^ i also feel that same pain of elongated/horizontal books.. abrams published both the bojack horseman and steven universe art books but for some reason the steven universe one is like 20% shorter (height wise)?? why isn’t the size between the same publisher standardised dude x_x same problem as dark horse i guess lmao

First of all: Great video, you have an impressive collection!
Secondly, since you are using Rhythm Theif Music in all of your videos, I assume you are a fan of the game? May we hope to get a video in which you're gushing about the game like you did for the Layton series? Especially now that the eshop is closing and many people probably wont have the opportunity to play it again after that?
Maybe even make a compilation of 3DS Rhythm Games?

    • @Divisionlo
      @Divisionlo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you kindly!
Yes I love Rhythm Thief! Such an underrated game. And ooh, I hadn't even thought about making sure I do it before the eShop closes--i know the physical for Rhythm Thief is already getting pretty pricey so that's a good idea! So yeah, I can confirm it'll be happening at some point, and I'll definitely try to do it before the eShop shuts its doors!

Oh yeah, I've seen those. Not a huge fan, doing think it's necessary and I generally don't think anything should be limited. But as long as there's an affordable standard edition I don't think it's a huge issue.
