From Software might be one of the rare studio whose works are love letters to the power of imagination, something we loose a bit as we grow older. This game is a reminder of that in a sense, an already timeless piece of art.
I love how the company went from barely recouping development cost to their latest title selling 17.5 million units in 8 months becoming second fastest selling open world IP of the last generation
@@jackjax7921 I wasn't talking about myself necessarily, because I think I kept a lot of imagination in my adulthood. It must feel amazing to be Miyazaki. There are alot of enemies yes, but the enemy variety IN the game is not solid by any means. Lore relevant or not, fighting the same basic enemies and mini bosses again and again all over the map feels lackluster at best.
@@niklasmitfussl2639 The enemy variety is far better than any From Software game before and pretty much most rpg of the same caliber. There are way more enemy and boss types with lots of animation, details and different phases than most games out there. Rare are the games that can touch Elden Ring on this aspect. You make the same mistake as everyone criticizing this aspect of the game : talking about enemy variety when what you're really talking about is enemy distribution.
@@lahunica2726 You bring up a good point, now I'm interested in how many enemies ER actually has! On a different note, I do think ER should only be measured up against other FromSoft games, If even that. I am personally only judging Elden Ring as a standalone game. And in that, the enemy variety crumbles together with the enemy distribution. I agree that they are not the same, they are however tightly linked. An example. The Mountaintops of the Giants feel boring as an area because there isn't alot to do and you fight reskins of familiar enemies 99% of the time. Nothing in the game could have replaced their spots, there simply aren't enough unique enemies. The Halig Tree faces a similar problem but can make up for it lorewise and because the area itself is much more interesting in layout and design. I can only reiterate my first point, there are a shit ton of enemies and that's great 'n all, but it still isn't enough. Different enemy distributions could not have fixed that either, the variety in enemies is simply lacking (in some areas). Cheers
@@niklasmitfussl2639 The Mountaintops only new enemies are the variation of the trolls with fire attacks and the albinaurics on wolves. And no I disagree, there are enemies that could have been introduced only there and not earlier in the game and the game wouldn't have suffered from it : the zamor knights, the fire prelates and the fire monks, the kaiden warriors. They could have put these factions with the trolls variation and the albinaurics in this area and the consecrated snowfield without showing them before and it would be better imo. Now Elden Ring works like Sekiro where factions are in movement depending on the existing conflicts and motives, hence why you could see them at multiple places, and a lot of times I find it great from a storytelling perspective but still there could be improvement, for example the zamor knights don't need to be put in an evergoal and hero's grave before meeting them in the Mountaintops.
Small nostalgia trip at 1:36 and 1:38... For those unaware the artworks for Radahns and Rykards were leaked almost 2 years ago I believe. During the great hollowing (the 2 year long wait between the intial announcement in 2019 and re-reveal in 2021) this was the first (credible) leak to give us some idea how the game might look like. Up until then we had to stare at the only official artwork of the Godskin Noble that Miyazaki shared in 2019... These were dark times back then, but I will fondly remember all the wild shit that has happened in the sub reddit.
WOW the concept art for the Elden Beast is just gorgeous. Every piece of concept art has so much mood and such a beautiful loose rythm to it. Great job to everyone at FROM, you can really tell that the concept artists really have no heavy design restrictions when creating these concepts and have their full imaginations just run wild which you can feel in the designs.
Everyone had a mental breakdown of those two my friend. Two concept arts with atrocious quality was enough to make the Elden Hollows crazy. Damn, i miss those times.
I've looked at concept art for some games and thought: "If only these designs looked half this good ingame." Elden Ring is not one of those games. Heh.
I still remember when a low-res pic of Rykard's concept art leaked, and it was one of the only morsels of Elden Ring content we had. My hype shot through the roof. It's even more breathtaking in high definition. Let's appreciate it TOGETHAAA!
That opening image of Marika is highly interesting -- it's as if she was originally meant to already be shattered apart and the Elden Beast was keeping her intact and alive at all times. Also, perhaps it's depicting what happens to Marika as the in-game cutscene shows the rune cracking instead? Perhaps even the slightest jolt just tears her to shreds and hitting the floor is irrelevant. The art overall looks amazing, like genuine gallery pieces, but that image of Rennala floating above the "sweetings" is especially striking and high quality. Thanks for the uploads!
How is it even possible to have such great art design? Like who are these people who come in with these designs and why are they only in fromsoft? And why is it that the translation from art to in game stuff is so seamless? I'm just astounded.
Jesus christ that's some GORGEOUS art...kudos to Miyazaki and the team for managing to bring such a deep and detailed world into existence! It's a little sad that we didn't get to see Placidusax in his prime though.
It was probably removed so it wouldn't confuse you. Considering you have to hack at his legs all while being wary of what move he's doing next, having a giant skirt would be disorienting.
Was wondering if Rennala was trying to rebirth Radagon so she could have him back. Whats in the amber egg are essentially the template to make another radagon and its so happens that Ranni was born out of that. Would explain why Ranni is an empyrean as oppose to her brothers.
