This video also helped me overseed this fall. I overseeded mid October 2020 and 1 month later my yard looks awesome. By mid December 2020 my yard is greener and fuller than all my neighbors. I followed all the steps except aerating because my lawn was pretty moist. Thank you brah!

I pre-germinate the Bermuda grass seed by mixing it with Peat Moss in a 64 gallon container, I add water until it’s damp, and then I cover the container for 4 days to germinate. After that I mix with lawn soil or top soil in a wheel barrow, I spread the mixture over the bare areas, I throw some fertilizer on it and I water 3 times a day (using a timer that connects to the faucet on the side of the house). A couple of weeks later, green grass covers the entire area

This video led me down a long road to what a lawn can be. I actually left the area of grass seed and now have full clover lawns and I mix in chia during the growing season. This puts nitrogen into the soil naturally conditioning it with the clover as well as provides a healthy crop of clover and chia for goats, chicken, horses, pigs etc. It's created a very drought tolerant yard which looks like grass when mowed and looks beautiful until it is. Best of all, I never have to add fertilizer since it's conditioned naturally.
Thanks to this video for getting me to investigate the ways of lawn care.

Awesome suggestions. I can rehab a very distressed old lawn with thorough aeration. Like 4 to 5 passes, then top seed, fertilize and wait 10 days. I do everything in one foul swoop, which opinions may vary on. I use seed and fertilizer from the local turf farm that I bought my own sod from 20 years ago. I offer this service to home sellers thru realtors and guarantee success in 10 days. I charge around $400 tho as a side hustle plus I really enjoy it.

If you don't have compacted lawn like mine is a sandy soil type use a "pull behind" detacher and use a crisscross pattern. When I did my yard it was so bad that I had BIG bare spots and was embarrassing to have my neighbors look at lol. But when I seeded it came back so lush and beautiful it's amazing. I also put a healthy dose of crab grass as well as other weed killers, triclopry4 to be exact. Wait 3 weeks before over seeding.

First time home owner. I paid to get my weed filled lawn reseeded in the spring. Used tall fescue. It took about 3 weeks for full germination and a ton of weeds. The heat and sun has stressed it out and I'm not sure itll all come back. I want to overseed this fall. Love GCI turf idea but i dont want to mess up such a good seed. Going to try Scotts Fescue mix or Heat tolerant fescue/kbg mix. Though I dont own a aerator. I plan to just rake it vigorously. Thanks for your vids.

    • @Kingofkings29
      @Kingofkings29 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I used Kentucky Bluegrass on my front lawn and the heat tolerant tall fescue in the back. The weeds will come but as soon as the grass is full grown about 3 inches and then after your 3rd mow I would use the Scotts weed and feed spray depending on what types of weeds you have. My lawns look great.

Great video. I have question. Last year I detract with my Sun Joe and seeded etc basically redid my whole lawn: Jonathan Greene seed (excellent), dirt, starter fertilizer, tenacity and straw for first time. Lawn did really good.
Now we are in spring (Philly) I did my first cut Saturday. Grass isn't bad came in a whole lot better than the mess last year. I'm definitely going to be overseeding and tenacity etc this weekend.
My problem area, I have some bald patches and overall need to thicken up hence the reason to oversees.
My question, do I detract before seeding? I'm thinking I need to in order to get good root.
    Thank you in advance.

Thank you very much for the informative video. I have one question. So I just moved into our home a year ago and I put sod in that same month, roughly a year ago. 100% Kentucky bluegrass from red hen turf farm. I currently have a lot of dog spots in the back yard but for the most part my yard is pretty healthy. I’m just curious, if I were to over-seed this fall, would you use the grass seed from the sod farm to match the KBG, or would you throw down some TTTF to mix things up a bit.

I’ve been following you for a year. Thank you so much for doing such a thorough video! I have just over seeded Bermuda grass with tall fescue. I was told that the Bermuda grass and the tall fescue could coexist well. It seems like the tall fescue is having a hard time growing in the thick areas of Bermuda, but of course, tall fescue is thriving in the bald areas of the yard. Also, why is the tall fescue only growing in rows and slowly filling in?

Sorry to tell you Lisa but you Fucked up! Never never I repeat never listen to your local home depot idiots. Never over seed Bermuda with anything but Bermuda seed now I bet your grass looks like shit 2 different colors and one grows faster than the other it's okay just start over kill the whole yard wait 1month then cultivate the yard then overseed with Bermuda SEED water every day for 30 mins for 2 weeks straight and you should be back in buisness best of luck!

How long do you typically wait to mow for the first time after overseeding? I cut as low as I could this past Friday night, and overseeded the next morning. It was now Thursday, and the grass around my new seeds is growing very quickly. I'm worried that if I wait another week the old grass will shade out the seedlings and nothing will grow.

I'm really into lawn care videos recently. I used to have half an acre that I push mowed, now I'm in a townhouse. I think I miss having a yard.

It took me a few weeks or so for the Kentucky bluegrass to germinate when I over seeded last time. I think one key is to have a sprinkler system, which I don't have. Maybe when I'm retired I'll have more time and patience to water the whole yard, moving sprinklers and hand watering. I know how, it's just not practical for me. One thing I'm happy about is to see you have a Toro recycler. I just picked one up the other day, and it's nice to see you (and the lawn care nut) both use those. Makes me feel better about my purchase (there are so many choices). Anyway, I know you're telling people good information, and the video is well put together.
