Following their collision at the Austrian Grand Prix, McLaren and notably Andrea Stella unleashed furious attacks and a witchhunt on Max Verstappen, questioning his professionalism, Formula One car handling and racing skills. Your not changing Max. His father programmed him to not just win but to destroy the competition. No amount of penalizing is going to change anything because Max has priced in the penalties and concluded that he'll take the penalty AND the win. Its worth it thus he has depowered the council that makes the decisions. Its true that he is so far ahead in the points that there is no need for him to drive like that. If he had left enough room for Lando to drive around the outside imagine the race they both could have had to the finish.

I agree I forget who it was but a Le man’s driver commented on the situation Especially about the double hit Verstappen performed on Lando after colliding once . The Le man’s driver said that would get you a race ban
Max is pushing boundaries, and he may have received a penalty , but it was a non penalty penalty. I.E. It's not really a penalty if it has zero effect on the race. (He was given a 10 second , but was 15 seconds ahead of person behind him at that point).
So dirty I'd now called "pushing boundaries" ... I see
I'm pretty sure that IndyCar and IMSA will consider the consequences of a crash when considering what kind of penalty should be dealt. FIA should do the same.
As an experienced racing engineer and race car builder who has won 27 championships and 452 races, my analysis of this incident is the following: 1) 3 DRS zones on 1 circuit is unacceptable, especially on such a short circuit. The person behind you wins at least 3 x 0.3 seconds / lap, which is about 1 second per lap. 2) Norris had a higher speed due open DRS and therefore had to brake harder to stop. It is clear to me that he miscalculated at least 3 times in the braking zone, putting himself in trouble. 3) He should have made sure he could pass Verstappen on a straight using his DRS. He has been too impatient and impetuous, not cool-headed enough. 4) It is a common racing knowledge, that whoever is on the inside of the corner is the winner. 5) mistakes during Red Bull's pit stops, which caused Max to lose a lot of time.
And finally sending continuously falsely radio complains about the other driver, trying to get advantage with it, is not at a champion level. History has learned that such a driver never becomes a real champion.
Point 1 is valid. The other 2 are not. He locked up once in the corner, that's all. An he wasn't trying to overtake in the corner he was setting up for an overtake on the straight. As an "experienced racing enginerr" how can you not understand the move Lando was trying?

Check the battles between Leclerc and Max 2022 same corner, Max went all the way on the curbs to avoid a collision.
Same with Sainz 2023 same corner, Max was pushed wide on the curbs in the breaking zone but crossed back and gained a position.

If the penalty & demerit points were in place in 2021 we would not have seen the racing we saw yesterday.

Lando is a nice guy but he doesn't have the killer instinct to become a world champion. Max is ruthless, like Schumi and Senna, hence he is multiple WDC.

There's a difference between ruthless and straight out taking out other drivers just like Schumacher done to hill and others with deliberate crashes because he knew if both cars dnf he would come out on top. Maybe karma has shown its face with his antics

Stella is 💯% correct. You can go back farther back then, 2021, in the archives like I've done. The FIA is to blame for not senturing Max back when Lewis was dominant. They figured this is what the sport needs, someone who is aggressive. There's a fine line between aggressiveness and recklessness. So what's the takeaway? Max has been divebombing his entire career. His philosophy is that if the other person doesn't let up and let him pass, there will be a collision. When does Max grow up and realize everyone has the same rights to drive as he does and should take the exact philosophy as Max and not let up. Oh, but that would take everyone down to his level with zero sportsmanship. Don't get me wrong, Max is a phenomenal talent and doesn't need to be driving like an _sshole.

no the part that gets me the most is max didnt get off the track with having a destroyed tire like seeing him cut back in front of lando was silly and shouldnt have happened. landos tire was still good for about 3 or 4 corners till it blew out so lando could of gotten back in the race faster but max didnt let him

Look. I have a different view of this whole thing. Was that incident Max's fault? Yes, it was. That is almost uncontested by everyone. How many others saw this coming? Well, almost everyone had a feeling it was inevitable. Was his driving erratic? Yes it was, and it should have been stopped or at least he should have been given a warning when he did it the previous 2 laps. Were Max's actions warranted in order to defend his position on track? Now this is where my problem lies. Fair competition reasons I would say no, but that is not where we are when you look at his previous habits. Norris was on the outside and not the inside. Max WENT OFF THE RACING LINE in order to impede another drivers actions and resulted in a collision. DRIVERS CAN BE DISQUALIFIED for this, and have been before. Look at Schumacher vs Villaneuve, for example. In my opinion, as soon as Lando got out of the car, Verstappen should have been Black Flagged and Disqualified. His actions, even stated the stewards said it was his fault, should have been penalized from that moment. If you take someone out of the race you should be removed as well. Max should have been Disqualified, and leave it at that.

Max always gets away from murder by the fia. If anyone did that to lando, it would be more than a 10 sec penalty. Team are now catching up with max and he hate that he will not get competition from his crap teammate checko and right now it lando so max has to go back to racing dirty did the same to Lewis now it lando turn max is a good driving but only at front with a 30 second lead in a fight well the last race will show that.

Racing incident. If Lando knocked Max out of the race during one of those dive bombs, he would have been given the same 10 sec penalty. Lando and Stella would not be sulking like they are now. Same thing happened to Alonso when he rear ended Zhou. You can’t treat one driver different to the other. Stella needs to grow up.
I suppose you just started watching F1! Nobody, I mean NOBODY has the habit of divebombing more than Max. Look at his entire history history since he's been in the league. You can't deny what's on the tapes...😂
The team managers who criticize Verstappen for this incident in Austria are simply hypocrites. Look at Toto offering up to 3 times Hamilton's salary just to get Verstappen. Vasseur would certainly dump Hamilton to get Verstappen and if Max is even remotely interested in McLaren, Zak will dump Norris without any doubt.

If you think this was changing lines during breaking, you don’t know racing.
It was nothing more than getting ready for a apex (as you do).
Sainz JR, Perez do it more than others, Max does it sometimes too.
It was at most changing trajectory slightly, not a manevoure.
It was perfectly avoidable by Lando, just go 1 wheel wider, just like Max had to take avoiding action 3 times.

It’s always about race especially when Sir Lewis Hamilton has been the only black driver in F1 for nearly 20 years and in almost 2 decades there still isn’t another black driver or reserve for that matter! Lewis called out the racism in the sport in the past and they tried sweeping it under the rug and they sabotaged him at both McLaren and Mercedes ….. and when Max nearly decapitated Lewis they shrugged it off like that’s just a racing incident no big deal…. now they complaining about how he drove against an average driver like Lando WOW!! Dive bomb Max even crashed into Lewis at Silverstone they even blamed Lewis for not allowing Max to run him off the track and said Lewis didn’t give him room and Max ran himself off track! The greatest driver the sport has ever witnessed is black and that has always upset lots of people …..some teams….most drivers and pundits! Stop protecting Norris, both were stupid, especially Norris throwing his car into the corner with very little or no control. Norris could have avoided the accident, he wasn't pushed off the circuit. I don't like either driver but they both have to own responsibility for what happened. Norris should just stop crying and Mclaren should stop treating him like a baby.
