Max Verstappen's weekend couldn't end much worse as following his 10-second time penalty for causing a collision with Lando Norris at the Austrian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen has had two penalty points applied to his super licence. How does 2 points on Max's Super License "Change Everything" ... Kmag has 10 .. The punishment doesn't mean anything unless it has an actual impact on the sport, or a race. Just saying ... sadly the drivers and teams have learned that the sport is as much about rule manipulation as it is actual racing, and until penalties are put into place that break this mentality, I don't see anything changing.
mag already should have 12 and one race ban, but there not very consistent. they holding the hand above it's head.

Agree 100%. I don't like Max's 'yield or we crash' driving benefitting him time and time again, but until it's actually consistently punished I can't really blame him. He's just doing what works, and it's what worked for Senna and Schumacher before him. The way Formula 1 is stewarded has consistently rewarded over-aggressive driving and I don't see that changing any time soon.

And yes, KMag is most definitely guilty as well... And KMag is a perfect example. He was an absolute brute earlier in the year , right up until he had no more points to spare before getting a race ban. The rules would have finally had an impact on the sport (and to a lesser extent, finally did have an impact). Instead he's backed off and hasn't been going anywhere near as hard with elbows out, and hasn't received anymore penalty points, so hasn't received a race ban yet. (There is plenty of room for discussion on FIA / Steward ruling consistency)
As for Norris being punished as well. If he should have been punished , he was punished by his race being over and having a DNF, and may or may not have access to all the upgrades that he had last week, at this weeks British GP. (I most definitely follow the sport).
Why is everyone so focused on this? As if this is the first "crash" ever in F1? 😅 I remember the times where championships were acquired by DIVEBOMBING in turn 1 on the last few races. So the opposition is out of the race. People are getting more and more whiny in the last few years. This is a sport, drivers are getting payed to win not to be friends or lovers. Instead of crying for everything let the FIA do its thing and enjoy the competition this season, or do you all want 2023 all over again?
I think the only reason everyone is on about this is because not much has happened up to this point really. It's good TV to stoke the flame a bit for the drama of it and make the next race that much more tantalizing.

Lando kept exceeding track limits with no penalty

Yeah he got a black flag for exceeding track limits which gave Lando a 5 second penalty. Verstappen also did the exact same thing on the same corner as Lando overtook and did not receive a penalty even though he retook his position back of the track

@@driverszone893 the penalty was because he exceeded the limit of track limit infringements for the whole race. The last one just happened to be while he was racing with Max, but the penalty itself was for that plus a few others off-camera while he was catching. Max didn't get a penalty for overtaking off the track because he was only off the track because he was forced off (a decision that afaik in recent years has only ever been used then and on lap 1 of Abu Dhabi 2021, but tbh I think it's fair if they consistently apply it...which of course they don't cos its the FIA who am I kidding)
Think you'll find he got penalised for track limits you clown and even if he didn't it doesn't justify max mcstrapon
This season is getting more and more excited. I expect the second part of it (after the summer break) to become even more intense and escalated especially between Max and Lando, since their pace are equivalent, but here comes the experience into play. I know that Mclaren is behaving consistently in every single track since they are the best package, but still I believe Max will be ahead of them just because of his experience and the way how he delievers his race. On the other hand, Lando is such a big talent, but he rushes a lot when it comes to tough battles, which means there is still a long way to go for him if we wants to be on the level of world champions. From my personal point of view (you might call me crazy here), Piastri looks more futuristic as a world champion compared to Lando.
Not only does max have a driving style reminiscent of Schumacher his sportsmanship is about the same as well.

@@phoenixmotorsport647 I’m a fan of both drivers and motorsport, I feel the video biased towards one driver. I felt Peter Windsors video on the race was objective and he brought up some valid points that I hadn’t thought about.
The rules are the rules and in my opinion the FIA had dropped the ball and are partly to blame for not informing both drivers of rule infringements.

Max complaining about dive bombing really is the height of hypocrisy given it was his only strategy against Lewis in the past.
Hypocrisy? If you complain and stewards penalize the other driver, you won. There is no hypocrisy in racing.
In his statement he acknowledged dive bombing and said “sometimes it works”. He never said he was above it. He meant if you do it you have to consider all the consequences of doing so. Lando was in a hurry to get past Max so he could create over a 5 second gap. He was pushing very hard. Not sticking up for either driver, but that needs to be said.

If you say the penalty max received places blame on him, you’re also agreeing Lewis’s penalty at 2021 silverstone places blame on him.
Anytime you try to ovsrtake another driver its a gamble. Its a risk. There's always a chance you could make contact and sustain damage. This is DOUBLEY true when trying to pass in a corner, 3x more dangerous when you're trying to pass on the OUTSIDE of a corner, and 4x as dangerous when you're trying to pass (du du du du) Max Verstappen.

If neither blinks, you get some contact. Thats racing. I don't WANT to see a bunch of friendly gentlemen who just get out of each other's way whenever another car has a pace advantage. Max races the way he does- because he's trying to freaking win. Thats why he's my favorite, and I don't want racing without that competitive mentality.
Look at the steering on max's car. At no time did he steer left he holds it straight until the apex which gives Lando less room.

It still closed the gap to Norris, as he did clearly move to the left. Obviously he didn’t veer left into Norris but as the car on the inside you cant just close that gap

The track narrows on the outside leaving Norris the option of using the rumble strip but he chose not to do that.. since Max didn't turn into him the cars touched. The inference that max turned into Norris is wrong and max should have started turning into the corner but clearly didn't. On a track limits warning Norris had nowhere else to go.
With those wornout tyres, the RB20 kept the "faster" McL behind, with fresh tyres the RB20 was 7sec ahead 😂

Lando received a Blac & White flag for track limits .... Well FIA please explained... Then Lando swiverd again and He Lando was notify by his team, and Lando reply that Max is cutting him off.
Peter Windsor explained the entire Battle and, Lando gained advantage through track limits could not the decision been made within that timeframe of the Black & White flag waving.

Lando still had space on the left. Why he wanted contact with Max. His reaction on Max going just a little left was very poor. He wanted to break late himself and got locked. Own fault too, so driving incident.

Max is right when he says Lando was lunging late. But on lap 64 Max just turned left and took him out. Shumacher/Hill and Villeneuve. It's cheating and it needs to stop.
I'm a McLaren fan and though i think max was a bit naughty in the way he kept lanso behind, lando was definitely clumsy in his overtake attepmts. As big of a fan as i am of lando, he has a lot to learn, especially in the patience catergory. The rivalry is good though
I'm glad to read at least one decent comment here. I'm sure Lando has learned a lot with that experience. Race conditions, against the World Champion, fighting tor the win. Adrenaline must have been pumping ! I'm glad aboput what I've seen on the track. Sure Max wasn't 100% innocent and clean on that one, but it's better than dirtier ones in the history (Jerez 97 is the first that come to mind). Anyways, it was fun to see some action. It's time to move on though and see what's gonna happen next weekend.

This race was Max of 2021 and before. If you can, go back and watch Max's rookie year of 2016. And the fights with Lewis in 2021.

Too many comparisons between Verstappen and Schumacher for me. They both had the 'win at all costs' attitude that even extended to ruining their opponents race regardless of the consequences. Verstappen's main overtaking 'skill' is simply diving up the inside and expecting the leader to get out of the way to avoid a collision. Not a deserving champion or an 'honest' driver.

There was ZERO chance Lando was going to pass around the outside😅. He put his car in a spot that meant hard braking to even make the turn while avoiding Max.

Max moved to cover the inside to stop Lando dive bombing and sacrificed the racing line on the outside, so he pulled to the outside to block Lando. Lando didn’t yield and Max just drove into him

The problem is the inconsistency by the stewards in determining penalties. It seems to me that Red Bull and Verstappen are dealt with rather leniently.
Of course it seems that way to you...didn't seem that way to you in Spain when Lando pushed Max off, or in Silverstone where Max was yeeted all the way to the hospital and you and the british media celebrated Lewis' victory like he had just won WWII all by himself.
Ehhh. When Lando pushed Max off the track last week there was no penalty, Max did get a penalty for the same. When Peres drove around with a damaged car, losing parts on the track, he got a penalty. Lando didn't get a penalty for the same this weekend... Need I go on???

This crash was not the best outcome for Max. If Lando would have passed Max still would have won the race. Lando was cheating the hole race by cutting corners. But that is not told in the Brititisch press. Ever since the arrival of Max the Britisch F1 community want to destroy him or kill him on the track like in Silverstone.

I didn’t have any problem with how they were racing, but max has long used the dive bomb scenario to try and scare drivers off the line. It’s what he did here and Lando held the mark… something no one has done before. Consequently this blew up in max’s face as he caused a collision taking them both out. It’s no more complicated than that. If we hadn’t seen this strategy from max numerous times before one might think this was targeted bad sportsmanship, but in reality it’s just part of max’s aggressive style. We don’t see it very often as he is rarely challenged. I think much of the drama comes from people who haven’t been regular fans to the sport.

Max finished with points for the Drivers and the Team, and took out his nearest competitor Lando to zero points, and cost Mclaren hundreds of thousands in damage to the car (which comes from their budget). Max even kept the extra point for fastest lap. He doesn't give a toss for popularity with fans or other drivers.

I counted him causing 4 problems to other drivers which caused running off track and bumps into the corner.

What? Most of the changes to driving regulations written since 2016 have been done to reign in Max's bombastic "I don't give a @#$%" driving style.
@howardwhite5131 Which in return has given us a much more tamed Max. Much more logical and strategic offense instead of in my opinion the full blown dive bombing. That has much more risk to taking more drivers out of the race. The pure elegance in the way Max is able to use talent and experience over car performance is what has entertained so many. Rules in racing that force one driver to leave an opening for another driver to gain the advantage are absolutely insane and delusional to me. It is on the skill of a driver to utilize their own abilities and experience to get past another drivers defense/offense. Overall the collision and puncture are nothing more than an unfortunate racing incident. Really sucks Lando had to retire though.
I've yet to hear/see anyone mention how Lando could've easily avoided that contact.

Lando was up for the win and Max wanted to make sure that never happened so took him out we all saw it that's why he got the 10 second and 2 points on his license

To me...the FIA is ENTIRELY too lenient when it comes to incidents that cause cars to be retired. Stroll with he rear-ending Danny, K-Mag taking out Perez AND Hulkenberg in Monaco, and now this...
They need to implement a penalty that states if you cause an incident that causes another car to have to be retired, not only do you get a penalty point on your license, you also get disqualified and removed from the race itself as well.
I like seeing them race hard like the old days, but the last attempt and collision was caused by Max steering into Lando. A 10 second penalty is not enough when you put someone out of the race. A drive through or stop n go would be more appropriate. Points in their license is fine but does nothing about the race outcome

What Max was doing was inarguably moving under braking, well before the "dive bombs." This is against what you call sportsmanship. Plain and simple.

Marko - the most balanced view. Lando could have backed off, he had the advantage. Max could have backed off. They fought instead. In a sense they have both lost - more than a race too. (In the past Lewis never just gave up a lead. Everyone forgets that. Is it fair that Lando gets upgrades before Oscar? Has Oscar ever publicly complained? No, he just pushes himself and his car harder, when he gets the up-grades he is on Lando heels. has he not had the grid penalty - he would have been fighting Max and Lando. Oscar is the future.

A 10-second penalty is a joke for the crime committed it cost him nothing. The stewards are out of touch. Some of the penalties these days are not worth even giving a penalty because they affect nothing, Oscar Piastri's penalty was an overkill.
British Media, F1 is not a British sport, stop whining when you feel British drivers are hard done by. Why were there no toys out the pram from you guys when Ocon flew over Gasly,when Lewis took out Max a few years ago receiving a 10 second penalty and still went on to win the race.
Max should have just let Lando passed and Max come in second instead Max came in fifth it would not have made a difference to the Drivers Chapmship

Hey all you F1 “experts”, haters and nitpickers, this is racing! It’s not a game of croquet on your granny’s front lawn! This was the best F1 race in years. Now all the knives come out for Max and poor, poor Lando. Where was all this vitriol for Red Bull when Perez’s car was written off at Monaco? ($35m I believe) All Lando got was a flat tyre and a few parts that flew off, but according to him his car was “destroyed!” Max is the best driver on the grid. It is Max that makes the RB look good. Perez makes it look like a Haas. (He should be featured in Netflix with the back-runners) Here’s to some proper F1 racing like we witnessed back in the 70’s and 80’s when racing drivers were real men and not a bunch of poster boys for handbags and toiletries. (Half of them haven’t learned how to shave yet!)

The Verstappen hate really must quit. Its just hard racing. Max is protecting his position yes, but Lando has very little experience driving a car as good as he has had as of late. His anxiety level has lead to some mistakes. He had time and he didnt need to start divebombing Max. Divebombs into a corner are dangerous to all involved, and usually ends up bad. Drive Smarter not harder. The harder Lando was driving was causing him to violate track limits. That being said, he shouldve had to serve an immediate drive thru penalty or a 5-second penalty, and we wouldnt have had an incident. He wouldve never gone after Max that early and hard if the team wouldve talked to Lando and calmed him down.
Max moved about too much end of , at them speeds you cannot make your move and then change it
We'll see what you have to say when he gets someone killed - whenever he's under pressure his choice is to run the other driver off the road as opposed to using skill to come out on top

Do you not think the anti-Verstappen aspect comes from Max's history? If Norris had been as reckless and ruthless in his breakthrough seasons running people off the track and moving under breaking, then he may too be seen as more accountable when incidents like this happen.
