Hey Boss man , Here is a tip for you . You might even want to pass it on . If you are fishing with a slip bobber from the bank, tie you another slip knot on your line below your bobber and slide it down to your sinker. 9 out of 10 time if you get hung and break off the line will break where that sinker is. That slip knot above the sinker will help save your bobber. Great video :-)
Of all the fishing videos on youtube, I enjoy your s the most. Your videos are dirt-practical, great how-to content, and I enjoy your talking through tons of tips. The funny thing is, sometimes when I'm fishing and using one of your tips, I hear your voice while I'm doing it! Keep on filming!
Sir, your videos are truly entertaining and informative. Been a fisherman most of 61 years and thought I knew it all till I started watching your videos. Keep em coming and tight lines to you sir
I've watched a lot of videos on to rig a slip bobber and yours was, by far, the most easily understood method. I'm now confident that I can rig my lines myself for my first solo fishing trip tomorrow. By the way, I really enjoyed watching you fish. I grew up as a tomboy fishing with my daddy every chance I got. He can't fish anymore so I'm gonna have to fish off the bank. And thanks to you I know my rigs will hold up well. Thanks so much!!!
My favorite type of crappie fishing I love using a bobber. Funny thing about it if I have to wait an extra 10 minutes to see my doctor i get fidgety but i can set there all day and wait watching for a hit on a bobber lol. Thanks for the video Richard and God bless.
Thank you Richard for this great tutorial. i've been wanting to try slip bobber fishing for about 6 months, and everyone i've seen say's to use those big bobber stoppers, and they always get caught in the eyelets for me, and always moved the depth, and i could just never get it to work, but you took your time to show us how, and i cant thank you enough friend.
Thanks for the vid Richard. Slip-floats are my go to method. I’m a bank/dock fisherman, so not having a fish finder and not knowing their depth is time consuming to say the least, But once I do it’s on and poppin’ 😁👍🏽
Sweet slip bobber video! I've got 2 of them Boss slip floats and they are extremely sensitive, hooked on 4lb high vis and a 5'6" rod. Absolutely love this set up! Caught my PB Crappie early in the fall, 15 1/4", on this exact set up! Was an eerie rainy day that day and my wife said I was crazy.... crazy for Crappies🖒. Thanks for the great video Mr. Crappie King!
Great tip for the sliding stop. With your stop it’s that much less you have to have in the tackle box and you’ll never run out of stops. Nice video, thanks for taking the time to share your experiences. From Missouri, Jack
Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge "old timer" I say that with much love and adoration. I learned allot from you i never got to fish much with my dad as he was always gone ( military) now he just doesn't have the heart to go. Much respect.
I mentioned in a previous comment that I like your music. I am not so much Country Western as I am City Eastern. But I was compelled to Shazam your music, learned it’s Michael Flory, went to the iTunes store, listened to samples of each track, and have just downloaded 5 of them. May go back for a couple more I’m currently on the fence about but might grow on me. Yet something else for me to thank you for, so, thanks bro!
With all the rain we been having in the Tennessee valley I made a bunch of them bobber stops with wrapping the line around a drinking straw lots of good tips watching this channel around the same area
I use a piece of small , thin rubber band tied to line instead of using a bead and piece of mono tied to string. You can slide this for fishing depth and will pass thru eyelets also. Keep on fishing coz it’s good fer ya.😎 Good vids and enjoy the learning. Thank you
I Believe the Lord has put you on this Earth to get more and more people to fish for such a time as this. Keep doing what you're doing. This is the first time I have seen a rig like this set up for Crappie fishing. Thanks, Bishop Kirby
Richard, I live in Maryland and though the Crappie fishing up here is no where close to what you enjoy but never the less your insights have been a great learning process for me. The Boss slip float is no longer being marketed however I did find the company of the owner who invented them and lucky for me I was able to purchase twp this afternoon. Thank you for your enjoyable videos.
I just got interested in crappie fishing and a friend turned me on to your videos. Great information and entertainment. I have learned a lot in just a few days of watching. I am primarily a bass fisherman and I am headed out this Friday for my first trip to target crappie. Wish me luck.
I seen a photo of Ali standing over another who didnr see it coming 👍🏻😂. You know their will never be another Ali and their will never be another Elvis. Both kings in they're World . 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
We fish that way quite a bit around here. I'll fish for them any way that makes the rod bend. One of these days I want to fish Weiss lake. Anytime you want to take me, I'll buy the gas and the biscuits! Thanks mean gene.
Hi richard. It's Jason again. It took me a few tries but I was able to get a hand tied bobber stop done up just like you do. I'm gonna test it out later in a lake. The lake was recently restocked due to a spillway rebuild. Trout are keepers but the largemouth and sunfish have to stay. I am excited to see how this method works for all of em. Thank ya Richard for all ya do. 👍
Good honest video, and it kind of hits home. No stranger here to this technique. I love it in the winter and hot summer also. And at night with bait attractor lights when the shad group up off channels. When the crappie are really grouped up "on occasion" I can catch them even quicker (and bigger ones) on a long pole and a "smelt" berkley power minnow with a bigger longer shank jig. Great video again Richard Gene! Love it, keep em' coming. Like always, My problem is Finding where them crapppie is at! Things change week to week throughout the year.
Another good video Richard. Good to see you fishing with the slip bobbers. I have been experimenting with several bobber stops. I have found a rubber football type stop to work well so far. I have also found the Thill bobbers to work best for me. They are balsa wood and if you watch closely on line you can get them cheap, especially right now. I would like to see your take on some of the double hook rigs. I have tried a few and i like a barrel swivel onn top and a slip shot on the bottom method. This allows you to to switch out weights as you need for the different depths. Here in my part of the crappie fishing world, brush is always a large factor in your rigs and presentations. A lot of folks use 30 lb braid (spider wire yellow high vis) with your rig presentation tied on an 6-8 lb leader. This allows you to free your rig from the brush without loosing your set up and a lot of line most times. Once again, thank you for your videos Sir. God bless and please keep them coming. MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!
Well, I didn't think you could get any better....but was wrong....loved the format of this video. Info and instructions first and then take us out and show us how it works....and the lens in the last few minutes looked like a fish eye lens....great shot.....thanks for sharing info and making this ol guy a better fisherman. you sure got a fan in Underground Chuckey, Tn. Hope you are staying warm, cause its ccccold outside up here in the mountains.
Rich, I'm a tight-lining king. But when I'm on the Ross Barnett spillway and the sac a lait want the bait to sit there, I can never get a bite on a slip bobber. I think my fortunes will change now. Thanks for the game brother
Richard, thank you so much for another great crappie video, as well as for showing us how to rig a slip bobber. I have to try this awesome technique. May God bless you and have a great weekend! 🐠
Hey friend! I gave it a try Friday morning and they was pretty deep still. They was at 25-30 ft down. I only can use jigs. I’m a bank fishermen and if one spot doesn’t bite. I have to move to another spot. I manage to catch 7 nice slabs. Lol
You can always count on learning something from the machine.I did something smart the day I hit subscibe to this channel. Thanks for all the tips and entertainment.
Hey Richard Gene this is Jesse James Germany Junior in Tulsa Oklahoma and I want you to know that you're my hero buddy you showed me the two things that changed my life and I'm telling you crappie fishing is my life and you show me how to tie a loop knot and you show me how to tie a slip bobber and I really do appreciate both of them today if I mean I just can't tell you how much I appreciate it cuz o and your trick on the dental floss unbelievable absolutely the smartest thing I've ever seen buddy you are my hero and don't forget my name now Jesse James Germany Junior okay my dad was senior I'm Junior but I go by JJ
Awesome video yea I've used that bobber Love them. Mine come with the small red bait golder hooks for brim. But I love crappie fishing with them. I had a good bit 10 years ago got in Michigan. Now I got 1 left so haven't used been setting in my tackle box of bobbers for 5 years since I lost the 2nd to last one lol. Gave away a few over the years they liked them also. Thanks for sharing and them some nice crappie I made a vidoe cleaning some had 5 over 12 in. We got a lake being drained and if you get in small boat and head out to the left people are getting there limits in hours. And some big ones. It's been to cold for me but I really want to go back out. But for now fishing under the bridge at the spill way there fixen to fix it broke after the flood last March bad flood. Warshed out the road was closed almost a year. Well thanks for sharing. God bless.
Richard Gene, I saw you fishing with a Mitchell 308 Reel Ultra lite. I had the Reel and the Rod combo years ago and they came up missing. Yesterday I found the Extra Spool that is Shallow so it spools off easy 2 to 4 lb test. It comes in an original round Case that it keeps the spool and line protected in your gear box. If you want it. I will Give it too you. I really caught a lot of Early season deep water Bream and Shell Crackers. that was years ago. Seeing you fish with that Mitchell brought back memories when I was taking my Daughter and Son fishing when they were younguns. Let me know if you are interested. James McCutcheon
Another great video! Thanks so much Richard! You may not know it, but I'm right there in the other seat fishing with you, lol. Well that's the way it always seems when I watch your videos, they're that good. Keep them coming.
Man you are a great fishing instructor to me and you remind me of my uncle bill he is in heaven now but you act just like him you put a smile on my face all the time and may GOD keep blessing you and your family Amen. 🤙✌🤟😎❤
Another great video my friend! This technique works well in the Spring with jigs also. I use the rubber bobber stops my self but never tried the line. Will sure do it in the future. God Bless! Go Big Blue 💙

great video...ive never rigged for crappie a slip float ive mostly caught them by accident fishing for other fish..but i want to be a crappie getter..thanx richard
I accidentally discovered how effective slip bobbers were for panfish when i was testing out my salmon/steelhead setup for a fishing trip. Killer in deep sections of the lake when the wind is heavy.
Thank you brother I'm 23 and just really getting into fishing your a good role model and mentor God bless you brother

Brooks Pearce. Very good tip you have provided. Never would have thought of that. Thank you sir.
Claire Cosby
What you mean
Thanks for that tip. I lost a bobber two days ago because I got hung up. Had I tied another slip knot, I would have saved my bobber.
great advice

This is the best way to enjoy new fishers getting started.. Nothing like watching the excitement of a 3-4 y/o when the bobber drops!!!
Love the country decor with the Ali fight prominently displayed in the middle of it. Gene is a true man's man!

Just like me, a lot of bank fishing. Waiting to try a new spot here in florida.
Curious, how long do you try one depth before trying another one?

I've always wanted to try this rig for Crappie. My Crappie skills are non existent. That's why I got Richard!
Thank you Finna Fish! you always got me brother!
Great tip for the sliding stop. With your stop it’s that much less you have to have in the tackle box and you’ll never run out of stops.
Nice video, thanks for taking the time to share your experiences.

Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge "old timer"
I say that with much love and adoration. I learned allot from you i never got to fish much with my dad as he was always gone ( military) now he just doesn't have the heart to go. Much respect.
Just a simple uni knot using about a 6” piece of 30-50 lb. braid is a much easier bobber stop knot to tie! Love your videos. God bless.
I mentioned in a previous comment that I like your music. I am not so much Country Western as I am City Eastern. I always said slip floater is just like vertical jigging only you can keep the boat back away from the fish. Great video once again
Richard, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I learn so much from watching your videos. God Bless you Sir

You are an encyclopedia of fishing knowledge!
I like this video so much and need to learn how to crappie fish I just watched this again.
Them southern folk are sure serious about croppie fishing. Gotta use these tips when fishing the 5,000 lakes in Northern WI, thanks.

Fishing on my birthday....Heck yeah!!
I like those little rubber beads you can get from hobby lobby for about 1/4 the price of the ones in the outdoor sections for my beads but I do like the eagle claw rubber bobber stops for my stops. We use em for big catfish as well and they seem to hold up better than the string one.
I use the same rig for lake stocked trout using red worms. Works great...
Thank you Sir. You teach me something new every time I watch your videos.
“ Roll Tide”!!! 🐘🐘🐘
This is what I am talking about. Great video
Have you ever tried rubber bands as a stop? Have to wet the line when sliding the band up or down for depth.
Excellent video, my go to setup for crappie, I also like to use ice jigs tipped with plastics, thanks!!!
Thank you Twinstone!
Great video, been buying bobber stoppers for years....no more!! Thanks. Someday when you have time show us your fish finder and how you locate suspended fish so easily and the depth of the water you are fishing in. Thanks again.....go fishin'.
Thank you so much Steve Tyo! I will make sure to include it in my next crappie trip!
I love watching a bobber go down.
I love that Ali picture on your wall, I have the same one on my wall. Thx for showing me how to rig that up slip bober
Another great video, I'm not sure if I'm the first one to ask this question but could you show us on your next outing how you locate fish with your depth finder? Or maybe you don't want to give that secret up, if that's the case that's fine. Thanks.
I'll be sure to do it! I've been getting a lot of request for it so I need to make it happen! Thank you so much for watching Steve!
