Great video for a Saab enthusiast - been a single driver of a Saab 93 Aero 2T convertible 2005 model from brand new with full factory Hersch upgrade its a cracking car. Much apprecaite any info that will help us to keep our prized possessions going mecahnically, electronically, aesthetically and all the gadgetry they might have.
Indeed. Sand with a 1200 grit w&d paper, then spray with a 2k lacquer makes them like new again. I'd already done this once with the badges I was taking off, so it was time for new. But at around 6 quid for a set - is it worth the faff?
And a good morning to you too!! Hey! We can visit you again now. Hopefully we'll be back to our fave holiday spot on Corfu soon. The hotel owner runs an excellent band and gigs in the hotel on Wednesdays. Look them up: th-cam.com/channels/DPRmx2yCF74Dev_qlkyuxw.html
Thanos Economou we prefer September. Weather is still good but not *_too_* hot and not so many kids about. We've done our stint with kids - our lads are 20 and 23 now.
Good video, wheel badges can be wet sanded with something like 1500 and 3000 and they look as good as new. Also bonnet badges if you use a hair dryer and warm them up they peel off much easier and don’t leave much of the pad behind.
Thanks for the tips! The ones I was taking off here, I'd already sanded and sprayed with lacquer once, so time for new. Anyway I fancied the new design. TBH I don't think it's worth the faff when a new set are under a tenner.
When replacing original Saab badges with the cheaper copied ones before fitting spray a couple of coats of lacquer on them and they will look good for years.
Hey Cyd, great tutorial, however the link to the badges you've bought no longer works. I'm in the middle of swapping my badges after purchasing new gel badges, but need to buy the mounts for them but can't find them anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated!
Extra tip for wheel badges, use a touch of clear silicon between the badge and the wheel. Stops them popping out when you don't expect it and you lose them
@@niknoks7638 ah yes, the same badges I've just fitted. I like them. I like the monochrome look. the original badges with blue and red look out of place to me.
The only problem when you replace your wheel badges is you have to buy entirely new wheels because they will subsequently look like they've aged 15 years in 10 minutes. 😄
For the badges with foam, I have always found a bit of fishing wire works great! Just run the wire back and forth under the badge to cut the foam/glue
Good tip generally, but on the 9-3 bonnet they're in a recess.

Me too- 2005 Vector Lmited Edition convertible from new. After 19 years the bonnet badge has flaked a bit.
Wheel caps can be sanded downed, then polished. I did it to mine and they look brand new, and ~40£ saved :D

@@ME-kp5iz Did mine with that method about 6 months ago, they still look brand new.
Go man! Excellent video ! Morning from Greece

Cyclone Cyd we are considering Corfu in August. Maybe meet you there !

Badges for aliexpress, just got the very same and they are great quality 👌
Good to know! After 2 years only my bonnet badge has faded slightlty. The rest are still like new. Great value and not much worse than the OE badges.
Tko predator 2.8T got that done as well car looks nice
New badges make a real difference to the car, don't they 👍

Thank you for the video!
Glad it was helpful, Jaegwang!
I thank you for all of your tips!
Love the saab videos
Thsnkd,thst'd goor to know
I
have the same wheel badges , but also have them on bonnet boot and steering wheel, think they look better
I'm liking them too, so far.

Never thought of that, thanks
@@CycloneCyd My cheap ones have been good for 4 years.

Try here instead: bit.ly/Saab_badges_2. It's been 6 months now and the badges still look like new.
Let me know how you get on.
Won't cellulose thinners attack the paint?

They'll love this at the tyre shop
Thanks for the tips very useful!❤
I got genuine badges, more expensive yes but they come in one part so you don’t have to worry about lining the logo up
Do you know how to get the boot badge off from 2008 onwards? Theyre not on a flat surface like this
Watch how I got the bonnet badge off
I've been looking for this exact emblem from the bonnet for 2 years and I can't find it anywhere. Where can I find it? (griffin in black and white)
I can't find any either. Hence replacing with the SAAB badge
Where did you buy the new badges?
I got them here: bit.ly/Saab_badges
I've added the link to the description
Got a new one, no sticky foam!
Great video, the badge on trunk also has 3 pins? I see I'll order online and I see that there are 3 pins and 2 pins..
IIRC the trunk badge is 2 pins. Therer are links to badge sets in the description
Great video thanx 👏
No problem 👍, which badges did you get for yours?
@@CycloneCyd mines a black 9-3 convertible so was looking to get the black badge with SAAB on it with matching alloy caps....decisions decisions 🤣👍

😂😂😂🍻
Use Goo Gone adhesive remover
If you can get it. Not everyone can.
My bonnet and boot badges faded after 12 months.
Looks so easy here.. Their too big to fit, the one I tried with is fkt up broken now.
We call it EMBLEM 👁️ 😆
💪👍
Why can't they just click off and click on. The technlogy exists but nooooo
