Morning from the emerald isle, fabulous and exciting video shame about the engine by the way the rocker cover did not look like s2 what engine have you got in there,by the way water looked very cold ye brave people 😂, Aidan in Ireland 🇮🇪
Greetings! Thanks for watching we hope to visit Ireland one day. The engine is very early series 2, only made from 1958-1962 if I remember right. That’s possibly why it looks different. I had a nightmare sourcing big end bearings for this as they basically aren’t being made anymore. The workaround is using TD5 bearings … so I guess it’s part Td5 now 😂😂😂
Gosh they're cantankerous old vehicles but you've got to love them! Very thoughtful of it to break down on the blacktop and not up the valley, looking forward to seeing her after the operation
I tend to think you might be right. I’ve probably needed new rings for a while so if held on as long as it could. Cheers! Looking forward to having it fighting fit again.
Congratulations for the quality of your videos mate, they're all great ! We will soon go for a very long trip with our series 3 and your channel inspires us a lot ! Cheers to Phill !
Again, awesome video! Apart from thanking you in winning card games all night long, I really appreciate it that you took me on that trip. It was such a good time. Thank you all 😊
Haha we won’t hold it against you 😂 well played indeed. It was great to have you there and we look forward to seeing you back here for another one xxxx
Awesome episode, and bloody good luck getting out of the valley before the engine exploded. Hope all goes well with the rebuild, and looking forward to seeing some vids on that process. Also, was it me or was the colour grade a bit more punchy and saturated this time?
Cheers mate! Oh yea it’s a scary but exciting time. Good thing I’ve got some mates to help who have a clue! Yea might have been haha. Maybe taking things in a slightly new direction with the visuals. Thoughts?
@@foldinthemap Honestly looked really nice, could have maybe done with a touch more brightness overall but I’d need to have another watch in a brighter room Definitely looking forward to seeing where you take it though
Having done thousands of miles in an old Series 2a, I do miss the charming feeling of doing it 'old school'. It is makes you feel like a genuine traveller. I do not, however, miss only having 50-odd horsepower, leaf springs, and manual steering. My 60+ year old body is well past that. That being said, my 1987 LR 110 (pre-Defender) is still old school charming enough even with coil springs, power steering and 230+ horsepower. It still requires you to be a trail side mechanic to keep it going. They say that 90% of Land Rovers are still on the road...and 10% have made it back home. There is more than a hint of truth in that! ;-)
The series Rovers are brutally simple and it’s an absolute challenge to drive and work on them… but sometimes they just make you smile more than any other car. Wouldn’t mind coil springs and power steering though!
What happened to you guys. Must I un-subscribe, as you left the Earth, or sold the Landy, or faktup the Landy or your pretty chick found a Toyota guy or or or or what....your videos were the best on TH-cam 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Me as an European constantly thinking about driving an oil leaking car through a pristine and clear water stream, spoiling thousands of liter water with a few drops. Killing animals and destroying mother nature. A different country, different customs ... i guess.
@@foldinthemap Could be even an oil film on the transmissions case or the engine or somewhere else on the underside, it's an old car, or asbestos break dust that gets washed of by the river crossing, driving fast though water. Doesn't even needs to be an bashed oil sump or engine blow-up. It's like an underfloor/underbody washing, just in nature.

Always enjoy your videos, hope the rebuild goes well and Ramps up the enthusiasm for future epics in the series 2!
Cheers for the encouragement, I surely need it but I think you’re right, enthusiasm is already building to get some use out of the fresh engine!

Aren’t they just. That is definitely the word. Yea alls well that ends well. Not long now and she’ll be back on the dusty trail!
You can tell how much a vehicle loves you by where it breaks down. Obviously, your Landy loves you. Good luck on the rebuild!

Great vid! That near rollover got my heartrate up!
Cheers! Haha you and me both. Certainly learned a thing or two and happy to have gotten away with it unscathed.
Old Landies never die, they only fade away, and get resurrected when the time and money is available..
Nice vlog....fok...😂🇿🇦
Pretty much!
We will have you back on the road in no time 😄
Yeeooowww!

Love watching your adventures and look forward to the rebuilt engine getting the gang out. Cheers from Canada
Cheers! Greetings and salutations, full steam ahead on the rebuild.
My favourite part of this is that you see that after all this time, I’m still not a contact in your phone.
Who are you? 😝

The good news is the glacier is still melting, feeding more loverly pure water into the flow
