I just did my first dry fast, and it began so so soooo easy, but I only made it through to day 5. I did not sleep days 2,3 and 4, so that is what broke me. Until day 4, I wasn't thirsty, and had zero hunger all the way through. It was only thirst, but I think had I slept, I'd have made it 7 days, which was my goal (The Phoenix Protocol). Nothing weird has come out of me, no orange sludgey goo, no nothing. I lost about 9lbs, and that was right back on the day I re-fed and drank. Again, I've not noticed any benefits? I'm thinking the near infrared sauna I did for an hour daily for over a year may have gotten rid of most my toxins, so the dry fast benefits were kind of meh, but I don't know? I also cold plunge, do coffee mms enemas, and many other health hacks.
Please share your benefits, dry fast length, etc. I've done many fasts since 2007 when I did my first liquid-only 21 day juice fast. I'm going to do a 3 day dry fast every other week to see how that goes. Maybe I need to build up to 7 days. Or figure out how to sleep. I'm in love with sleep, and always have been. My sleep hygiene is on point, so when I couldn't sleep during the do fast, it really messed me up, grrrrr.

It seems there are a lot of people walking back their stance on purely animal based using arguments that don't make sense according to what they (or others) said before. I would assume, and correct me if I'm wrong, that we would be fermenting and using sourdough only as early as the agricultural revolution. If it's correct that we, according to the stable isotopes research, would be at least 80% carnivorous before that point in time it wouldn't make sense we'd be fermenting stuff. I can't imagine us collecting the ancestor of wheat when it wouldn't be easy to find in large quantities and it's seeds would be much smaller. Most records point to starchy tubers and fruits as a main source to fill that 20% from what I gather. The question is then if there would be enough time to evolve to thrive on (fermented) grains since we started eating them. It seems all these fermenting techniques are mainly used to make it less harmful. It seems these techniques were developed because we were forced to since our main food sources became scarce. Am I seeing this wrong?
I'm all for variety in my diet but I feel there's a lot of bending the science to fit the preferred conclusion. 🤷‍♂

If you look into stable isotope assessment of ancestral diets, the figures vary IMMENSELY, from 30% animal based to 90% animal based. The variation depends on where (geographically) the specimen is from, when (we can't tell if there was famine), and probably others. This allows spruikers to cherry pick to suit their agenda.

Yes the Neolithc did reach Eurpoe at that time, but the establishment of that food tech and replacement of Pastolarism or hunting/gathering to dominance was post that period., and many ot our ancestors were still enjoying hunting for many a year beyond that time. Neolithic practices had reached much of Europe by 1000 BCE, but some remote areas, particularly parts of Scandinavia and the Baltic region, retained significant hunter-gatherer populations. Same can be said of Nother American, parts of South, New Guinea, Australia, SUb Sahara, Souther Africa etc.. Why would seasonal food selection apply to your current location. Shouldn't it apply to your ancetrial roots and location within the world, where your digestion and microbiom would have originated from? How would it be appropriate to feed an immigrant from south africa root vegetables in the winter while living in Canada. Just because they moved there doesn't mean their body automatically adjusts to the local natural foods. So, what do we do?

    • @waffle_chair9269

I would imagine a blend would be required, since you’d be consuming and breathing , therefore inoculating yourself with locals bacteria/fungus etc which then changes microbiome, which is integral in not only how one digest food, but also impacts production of immunity , neurotransmitters and hormones. So to use exclusively only historical, or only new location foods, would be a mistake, as they don’t allow for the changes of the circumstances and or genetics.

I'm super skeptical about fermentation, and yogurt. Dairy. I tried kefir, and became suididally depressed. It took about 2 weeks after stopping it, to return to normal again.

Yes, we all have to find what works for us. I've had to stop eating tomatoes (hives) and mushrooms (runny nose and sneezing a lot during the night which affected my sleep). Also cheese which causes constipation. Nuts too which cause my RUQ pain. Thankfully because I am metabolically healthy now and eating limited low carb with a lot of meat it is usually noticeable when I eat something which my body doesn't like.

I just think he feels guilty deep inside for his new love affair with Gluten. I don't blame him he may have went 10 years without a Slice of Bread. I wonder if the combo of fermenting and sprouting and sourcing the non GMO Wheat might be the ticket. Carbs are just joined molecules of glucose which the body breaks down. I only learned that after starting low carb.

Erythritol doesn't upset the stomach. You're not supposed to take in huge amounts at once. Your body needs to adjust to it. The body itself produces erythritol as a byproduct when it's processing sugar/glucose. Therefore, "scientists" claim: "erythritol bad, because people with high glucose intake live unhealthy because of erythritol production". Which is nonsense of course, it's sugar which is the unhealthy choice. Combine it with monk fruit sugar and mix it yourself, it's way cheaper that way, readily mixed product is very expensive. You don't need that much for sweetening food and drinks. You can bake with it.

Mike Mutzel is not a scientist; he’s an entrepreneur with degrees in biology and clinical nutrition who has capitalized on health and wellness content through his brand "High Intensity Health." While he has training in nutrition, he doesn’t conduct scientific research. Instead, he blends selectively chosen information with appealing narratives to promote his products and ideas. This approach can be problematic, especially when he makes claims not rooted in strong scientific evidence.
A key example is his assertion in 2021 that pathogens naturally evolve to become less dangerous-a statement that was widely debunked by experts. Scientific research shows that pathogens can evolve to become even more virulent, and assuming otherwise is misleading and potentially harmful, especially when it downplays real health risks.
The fact that Mutzel’s focus is on brand-building rather than scientific accuracy should raise concern for anyone seeking credible health advice. For anyone serious about health, it’s essential to rely on sources rooted in rigorous science, not marketing tactics and unvetted claims.
