Creating a 1.5 hour video about insulin resistance without mentioning Dr. Roy Taylor or his research is absurd. Roy Taylor is considered the world's expert on insulin resistance and type II diabetes based on his groundbreaking studies from 2007-2011. This video might better be titled something like "the fundamentals of metabolic disease"

I'm 59 years old. I have avoided bread and sugar since I was a teenager. All of my family members are diabetic except I. My family would criticize me for not feeding my children sweets. I was too strict and tasteless. Now, my family avoids sugars and breads. As a matter a fact, I don't even look my age.
    A blessing!

I'm 57, i eat crap all day - not a diabetic. I see a lot of fit younger people with diabetes. Even sports people? who eat salads. I also do not look my age. I used to exercise a lot from 20-40 years. Jogging. My diet is far worse than my father, who had diabetes. So what is the factor? He did not eat bread? i eat masses of it. He never ate cake?
There are studies? that say if you ingest two minerals. You might not trigger diabetes. Found in beans. But who can say?
What's the rate of diabetes in Mexico? is it higher than the USA? Or is the beans thing a falsehood. My doctor has looked at me and expects me to be on medication? they seem spooked? if you are not on medications? as if it was mandatory. Veggies are associated with oxalates. So feeding people veggies instead of sweets will just trigger other problems. Plants have defences. They are living things. a nettle will attack you? rhubarb juice can kill you in a day. swallowing smoothies is basically the fastest way to a syndrome.

@@cynthiagreer645 that's funny, all the skinny people get brain issues? Alzheimer.and cancer. they look like twigs? famously Audrey Hepburn, who ate like a sparrow. While fat people eat what they want and die of heart attacks and diabetes. There is no winner? My old Dad ate the same Scottish diet as me. He lived to 82. And a superfit Marvin Hagler died at age 60. You cannot win. one BAD SALAD? with many sprays. will give you a syndrome. If you have access to your own farm? you can eat ORGANIC. but I talked to a grocer. I asked what veg he had which was organic? and he said there is no way to know? As i wanted to make fermented veg in jars. You are gambling that the food on your plate is sound. Eat veg? Oxalates get you. Eat meat? It might be something else. NITRIC oxide is also a factor. There is NO SAFE ZONE. probably the safest food is a mars bar? as they do not want to get sued. Nuts i believe keep your spine healthy. But a ballet dancer last week died when she ate a cookie contaminated by a nut? so one man's food is another man's poison.

Phosphorous is never mentioned either. I appreciate this info very much. I work where I do because I want to help people. - Dietary fat quality impacts mitochondrial health. 🥑
    - Radiation also causes mitochondrial dysfunction. 🤢
    - Obesogens like air pollution harm mitochondria. 🚗
    - Amino acids like tryptophan are low in vegan diets. 🌱
    - Fiber feeds gut bacteria and maintains gut barrier. 🍎
    - Added sugars on labels indicate processed foods to avoid. 🛑
    - Eat mostly whole, unprocessed foods to optimize health. 🥗
    - Focus on metabolic health, not nutrition or food science. 🧪
    - Keep insulin low by limiting sugar and refined carbs. 📉
    - A pescatarian diet may be ideal for overall health. 🐟
    - Mitochondrial dysfunction leads to insulin resistance and metabolic disease. ⚠️
    - Fructose inhibits AMPK, the cell's fuel gauge and energy sensor. 🛑
    - Fructose also increases uric acid, which inhibits fat burning. 📉
    - Glucose actually increases mitochondrial function unlike fructose. 📈
    - Fruit contains fiber which slows fructose absorption. 🍎
    - Juicing removes fiber, increasing fructose absorption. 🧃
    - Added sugars and refined carbs spike insulin. 📈
    - High insulin causes fat storage and metabolic disease. 🍩
    - Fatty liver is now extremely common, driven by sugar. 🍺
    - Saturated fats are not all the same nutritionally. 🥓
    - Dairy saturated fat may actually be beneficial. 🥛
    - Trans fats are purely detrimental and should be avoided. 🚫
    - Omega-6 fats from oils promote inflammation. 🌽

As a recovered Type-2 Diabetic who had high cholesterol, triglycerides, high blood pressure, and who was severely obese at 495lbs, I found Keto (healthy fats only), that seemed to be a miracle after eating low calorie low fat diets and exercising had failed me and caused me to keep putting on the pounds. Now I understand why it worked after watching this video, and I also learned that not all glucose is bad like I thought. 7 years later I'm medication free for all the health problems I described above, I never counted a calorie, just ate whole foods that were low on the glycemic index and all my health problems and obesity went away as if it were magic!

I had a similar problem, I gave up eating carbohydrates including pasta, bread, cereal's, fruit, alcohol and vegetable oils and ate a keto (mainly carnivore) diet with just occasional veg and salad. My blood pressure now is normal, I lost weight and inflammation in my joints (which troubled me for years) disappeared within a few weeks. It seems that not consuming sugar and carbs is the answer rather than not eating meat? I am now 67 and feel better than I did in my 50`s.

I think what benefitted more for the both of you was eating less processed food, while eating more whole foods. I’m not an expert, just a fan listener of nutrition. I’ve heard that Mediterranean, vegan and keto, as long as they come from whole foods, are the best to reduce metabolic diseases. Both keto and vegan diets usually require supplements or a lot of dedication to make sure all the vitamins&co are met. In another video that I saw (as soon as I’ll find it I will cite it) said that the best diet of the three is the one that is sustainable for the individual, in terms of availability of whole fresh food in their region, their economic possibilities, and the enjoyability they have in preparing and eating it (no use if you give up because you absolutely despise it, after all even the soul wants its part :3)

2021 I was dying. I snapped up Dr. Robert Lustig"s book METABOLICAL after running accross his research papers and citations. I was desperately reading publications to save my life. I cannot stress more to read his book, he has hundreds of references, that comprise an entire book of its own. I knew after reading his book that I had mitochondria dysfunction. I immediately went to an elimination diet to understand what foods I had an intolerance of. I dropped ALL meds. I read hundreds of research papers, got out my biochem book. While family members died around me. I lived. This man saved my life. Other doctors such as Dr.Thomas Seyfried, Dr. Berry, Dr.Bikman, Dr. Baker, Dr. Jason Fung, Dr. Kiltz, Dr.Palmar, Dr. Jordan Peterson, Dr Peter Attia, Dr. Paul Mason and others have given me a comprehensive education on molecular health. My picture was taken in Nov 2019, one month before I got Covid for the first time Dec 2019. I am the first Covid Longhauler put into the Program at Scripps Torrey Pines Hospital that was not a healthcare worker or doctor. Was forced to have the jab, ended up in the ER. Have documentation adverse reaction to the vaccine caused a massive inflammatory reaction that caused multiple tumors, some of which went cancerous. I was shocked how so many doctors did not know what mitochondria health was. I started emailing medical science research papers to my Health Care Team. They thanked me! I worked very hard to educate myself while I struggled, while 3 family members died of metabolic dysfunction and Covid, while 5 other family members died from type2 diabetes or the attending issues like amputation and cardiac arrest. Now I am on a mission. I just was to spread the word of how to correct metabolic dysfunction and help others to realize they do not have to live miserable malnutritioned mitochondria dysfunctional lives.

Look it up. This will tell you why, though he states he tries to remain somewhat unbiased so as to not get into the crossfire of vegans and carnivores, he is sure to bring up the essential fact of Carnitine.

That will give your gut a chance to adapt. Then eat nothing but Beef (fatty meats - ruminant prefered including liver and other organs (ground into hamburger meat)), Butter (any animal based fat), Eggs, Multi-mineral salt (I like Redmond's Natural Salt, some like one of the sea salts) and water.

Instead of just talking about what is bad, it would be nice if these experts put together a hypothetical meal plan with sourced products to let us know how we can eat clean meals optimized for our bodies. An app that is a collection of no-no food products or that can also scan a food product and let you know if it is safe would be a wonderful invention for humanity as well.

Dr. Lustig essentially told you what to eat. Whole foods! Stop eating out of a bag or a box. Avoid the ultra-processed foods. Whole foods for example: fresh fish, steak, chicken, pork, apple, orange, broccoli, asparagus, etc....If it has a label it's been processed in some way. Generally, if you stick to the outside aisles of your grocery store that is where the whole foods are. All the crap is typically on the inside aisles. I personally buy my eggs locally as well as my beef, because I know who it's been raised by and how it's been treated. Stop eating out! Talk about horrible food and fast food especially. You'll never reduce the omega-3/omega-6 ratio eating this way.

    • @stephaneetchayde
      @stephaneetchayde ปีที่แล้ว

@@gladyssmith5505 Gladys, the complete cycle is : constant blood glucose spikes due to food intake cause hyperinsulinemia (permanent high levels of insulin), which causes insulin resistance of the cells (insulin is less and less effective). Taking drugs to make the pancreatic bêta cells produce more insulin or injecting insulin when the pancreatic bêta cells don’t produce insulin anymore, is then required to make sure the excess blood glucose from dietary intake gets removed from the blood as any excess blood glucose must be removed from blood. But this does not address the root cause of the problem, the goal is to reverse insulin resistance. Your husband must continue receiving his insulin injections until his blood glucose levels get normalized and he becomes insulin sensitive again, which can be achieved with a low insulin secretion diet and some other lifestyle strategies. Dr. Morgan Nolte is a specialist in that field and provides useful information on how to overcome insulin resistance and normalize blood glucose levels on her TH-cam channel and website : th-cam.com/play/PL5_RBZm7ejTvagqLrmlVdqnM28OyKdkAW.html&si=qz1_rpNwLXx-M4JS
Also, metabolic health expert Benjamin Bikman, PhD, has published the book « Why We Get Sick » which is focused on insulin resistance, what it is, its causes and how to fight it. I would recommend you and your husband read it. You can also find several interviews of him of similar quality as this one from Dr. Lustig on TH-cam.

Now I am peculiarly fat-sensitive with an extreme "greasy skin" syndrome. I lived on close to "vegan extreme' for years finally determined healing tissue injuries required some flesh foods. Put on Retin-A to quell the excess oily skin I had a reaction that blew into unbelievable 'plaque psoriasis/atopic dermatitis/? as the derms threw oral topical and injected steroids at it. Then I followed the science of Dr. Valter Longo and healed my skin in 3 days of fasting but I kept going for a week. Fasting is nature's own cure. MDs are hysterically against it because it blows up their model. Look up Pharmacist Ben Fuchs he's online has videos and updates at CriticalHealthNews.com

It was stunning to me that Dr. Lustig was not aware of the connection between calcium and vitamin K2! Especially for someone who is regularly taking a calcium supplement. I wish you would have taken his invitation to school him on this issue. This seems to me to be a very important connection for the health of our bones and the health of our arteries. A really fabulous book to explain this crucial understanding is, "Calcium and the K2 Paradox" by Kate Rheaume-Blueue.

    • @Dude8718
      @Dude8718 ปีที่แล้ว

@@user-ix9wx6ms9vthe trick is to be mindful and aware. Really think about how you feel and what you've eaten. If you suspect a food is causing issues, try cutting it out for a period and see how you feel. If it's better for a while but then worse try seeing if you're still getting the nutrients you may have been getting from the other food you had a bad reaction too. Substitute that with something else.
If no difference, add that food back and watch yourself for a few days. Eventually you'll start to realize what causes you issues or not.
Some issues are less obvious than others. Especially when it comes to lack of enough of a certain nutrient. Cutting out won't help unless you replace that food with something better.
The best place to start is with variety. And also checking for food intolerances and allergies.
For example if you're worried tou don't eat enough iron or that vegetables will have anti nutrients that chelate the nutrients or whatever, simply get your iron levels tested.
If they're fine, then it isn't an issue for you.
You just have to take it a step at a time.

I used to be a huge carb eater. I was hungry all the time. Could never eat enough unless I was bloated and sick.
Now I eat much much lower amounts of carbs and mainly proteins and fats for calories and I only need one main meal a day with a couple little snacks. As long as I eat enough at the end of the day I have energy all through the next day til evening especially if I'm sedentary. If hiking or doing physical work I need stuff earlier to convince my body it's ok to burn calories.
Now that I'm mostly low carb for so long and feel good, I can immediately tell what too many carbs do to me. I start to get hungrier and hungrier even tho I'm eating more and more. Bread also makes me a twisting feeling in my stomach. Pasta and bagels are the worst. Sourdough bread is almost ok
I thought maybe it was a gluten thing but idk. Bread products and sugar do it real bad to me. I may just need to try other complex carb sources.

I had been eating a lot of sugary foods and experiencing chronic stress for about a year prior. After lots of research, I decided to do a clean anti-inflammatory diet to get rid of inflammation, hypertension and gut issues. I focused on eating more magnesium rich foods to help heal my nervous system and foods to heal my gut lining figuring that toxins were leaking through my gut to my blood stream. I figured my cells were probably not absorbing nutrients properly. After 2-3 months, all symptoms were gone. Dr. Lustig may benefit with a magnesium rich diet to eliminate cramps since magnesium relaxation the muscles. Also may want to keep electrolytes balanced to prevent dehydration. I used to drink electrolyte drinks like pedialyte and it helped.

I used to have a fatty liver condition. I used to have pre-diabetic symptoms. I used to have edema - swelling in the feet and lower legs from excess fluids. That edema sometimes caused serious infections called cellulitis that would require hospital stays and intravenous antibiotics. I used to have COPD symptoms from decades of smoking. I used to have occasional high blood pressure and other chronic health problems for decades. All of these are gone. And they are gone because of intermittent fasting and eating high quality locally produced real foods.
For just over two years, i have been eating just one good meal every day that i prepare myself. I avoid sugars, all highly processed junk 'foods' and excessive carbs - no breads, cereals, pastas, etc. I am healthier and stronger than i was 10 years ago. It is almost like aging in reverse! Glad you heard the talk! He's an absolute genius for sure.
Hope you know how important strength training + cardio exercise at home is! Basics like daily walks, squats, pushups, curls, overhead press and planking go extremely far to reverse your aging 😎

DID YOU STOP EATING SEED OILS ALSO? OUT OF CURIOSITY HOW MUCH WEIGHT HAVE YOU LOST, AND IN WHAT TIME FRAME? I'VE LOST 20 POUNDS IN 3 YEARS, AND THE ONLY THING I GAVE UP WAS SEED OILS IN MY DIET. I DO ALMOST NO EXCERCISE NOW, AND I STILL EAT AS MUCH SUGAR, AND SALT AS I WANT. I EAT 3 BAKED POTATOES DAILY, AND 4 EXTRA LARGE EGGS.

Several years ago i had severe heel spurs to the point that i looked like an old lady getting out of bed in the morning or after sitting for a while. The thing that saved me was taking a supplement with calcium magnesium phosphorus and vitamin d.

I hope you understand why the fruit is not healthy. You should choose wisely and eat two servings per day or less. Ditto many vegetables, especially those loaded with sugar like corn (GMO ugh) and peas. Remember that all carbs convert to sugars which you don't need sugar for good health. Learn about ketones and the ketosis metabolic pathway.

@@carolynellis387 I'll say this as tactfully as I can...like doctors discussing nutrition, I do not consider your education relevant (complete). I believe that you are educated as they wished you to be educated. I encourage you to become as educated on the carnivore diet and on more recent research on the subject as you were on your "Mediterranean Diet". If you have done that, explain your support for fruit and vegetables, especially those highly modified foods we eat today that are enhanced to feature sugar in its various forms, as a significant portion of a proper human diet.
