It's interesting how good some of these stories are from what I thought was a time when Wizards didn't care about story.

Crovax has an interesting story, thanks for the fascinating lore.
Its fun that an alternate version of Crovax was printed in Planar Chaos, where his fate was changed and he didn't turn evil! I'm surprised you didn't mention that, despite showing his card art.
He actually has 3 cards - Crovax the Cursed, Ascendant Evincar (which strangely excludes his name) and the best one, Crovax, Ascendant Hero. He sacrifices flying for another, in my opinion much better ability - to avoid any removal. As long as you have life, he simply will never die!
However, the one you're giving away has the vampire type - something very relevant! I'd love to include him in my mono-black Liliana, Heretical Healer EDH! ;)
Crovax and the whole Weatherlight crew story lines were some of my favorite characters from the whole history of Magic lore.
crovax the Cursed was always one of my fave cards, I didn't know there was more to his story. keep up the awesome vids :D

Vindicate tells you the fate of Gerard. There are other cards that continue the journey. The only survivor left is Karn and that's really because he's not technically alive.

Oh geez, this is great! Crovax seemed like he really just had some bad luck, and bad decisions. Also, i'm glad you're giving away Ascendant Evincar instead of the normal Crovax. Seems to be more flavorful!

I love finding out the stories behind cards I use constantly but never had information on. This guy is in my Olivia Voldarren deck, and he does work.

That is one twisted story, but at least at the end of it all it sounds like Crovax was able to finally be at peace and was freed from the bondage and corruption that Yawgmoth and the Phyrexians had over him even though it was at the price of his own life. Great video and fascinating lore Seiben!

Truly a dark story. The darkest part though, is that two 5/5 with cumulative upkeep of pay 1 life beat the heck out of The Weatherlight Crew and Urborg denizens
Crovax's story has always touched me, that's why his time spiral version is one of me favorite cards of that block.
I really enjoy listening to this old lore I was not able to play back in its proper time.

Ascendant Evincar was the first rare card my older brother got , which got me into magic when I was five
Is there any possibility that you could discuss the alternate fate for Crovax as shown during the Time Spiral block? I still don't know what happened to cause the alternate fate besides the time bubbles.

Wow his story is pretty tragic. I was not playing when this was occurring, so hearing the story nowadays is really interesting.
This is so sad. Crovax had such a miserable life only to end up killed by his last friend before his insanity took while he was in the guise of the enemy that aided him so much down his dark path. The part about his parents reminds me of Sasori from Naruto. It's almost good that he was at least reunited with the one he loved before leaving that world, even if it was one-sided.
That is quite frightening on how relatable it is.
This would fit perfectly in my mono black vampire deck! I also use Gerrard in my white soldier deck so it would be cool to let them duel
What a somber and beautiful tail. At lest he was freed from his curse in death, witch not many share in story's like his.

I find crovax to be a very interesting character, I also like how in an alternate reality Mirri struck the finishing blow on selenia and became cursed in his stead. This caused an upturn in Crovax's life causing him to become aligned with white mana.
Here's hoping Fox doesn't screw the movies as bad as they screwed up Eragon.
+Shadow Minion Master Gaming Fat chance. They will try to make it "Hip and Cool", or "Kids like that Grimdark stuff nowadays, right?", or they try to make the characters "relatable" and make the protagonist a Highschool student from Earth.
+JohnRaines Yeah probably but I do have some hope. Fox has screwed up a lot lately and I'm hoping they're due for a homerun. Fat chance but I've got a feeling.

Man Crovax got the short end of the stick kind of like almost any important character involved in phyrexians.
