It's very interesting to see and hear how you assess the cost of a repair in relation to the customer benefit for that tool. What you deliver is always a cost effective solution for each case - I suspect that is a rare quality in Toll servicing today.

90% of those types of Makita saws when there is no light after engaging the switch it's that controler.
As for the broken bits, a bit of WD40 in the anvil and a couple of good hits with the head on my workbench works most of the time to get it moving to a point where some dentist tools can push it all the way out. Never tried the compressed air, will give it a go next time I get broken bit in one of those DTDs
Thanks for the video again, always nice to learn some Dewalt tricks!

That Milwaukee, I’ve found the Hall effect sensors can get gunked up with metal debris over time and just need a clean as the controller has a hard time determining position of the motor.
I’ve cleaned a few and they kick back to life same issue.

With regassing Milwaukee guns have you ever thought of using a diving air bottle and the adaptor for filling PCP airguns or the dedicated PCP compressor. Diving air is moisture free and a charged bottle should last a good few refills.

Great long video! I love these marathons, especially when they feature tools i've not even handled before!
Dean do you see a time where the battery nailers can get close to the gas nailers in terms of weight - not size, as I know that's too difficult due to the components needed, but just weight.
Is it within the realms of 1 or more generation of tools from the Hikokis, Milwaukees, Dewalts (not flywheel) and of course Makita;s Battery nailer is due out Q4 of this year.
I think they waited for Sencos patents to expire to not have to pay royalties - is that accurate?
Thanks for the effort you take to explain your process and findings, a lot of other tool repair/restoration channels stay completely silent for the videos.
    Thumbs up.

Tools fixed in this video and News about Milwaukee from USA:
0:22 Makita DCS552 Metal cutting saw | Fault: Not starting
8:15 (Dean's favourite brand) Milwaukee M18 BLPD2 Drill | Fault: TLDR according to owner "Sometimes working, sometimes not"
10:24 Hitachi G12SR3 Grinder | Fault: Jumps in powers/Too loose spindle
    16:34 Makita DJV180 Jigsaw | Fault: Not running/Jammed
36:56 Makita DTD153 Impact Drill | Fault: Broken bit stuck in the chuck
43:51 (yet again, Dean's favourite brand) Milwaukee FNCS18GS Staple Gun | Fault: Fires every second time/Its a Milwaukee
    59:03 Bosch GBH8-45D Hammer | Fault: Worn-out tool holder
1:12:24 DeWalt DCD999 Drill | Fault: Stuck trigger
1:23:53 Blue Ryobi EID-100-2RE SDS Drill (Took me quite the time to get the model) | Fault: Broken bit inside the chuck/Chuck not spinning
1:27:31 Paslode IM350/90CT Nailer | Fault: Broken screw (Bonus strip down, clean and rebuild)
    From USA news about Milwaukee:
First is that there might be a lawsuit that Milwaukee used force labor prisoners in China to make their gloves.
Other is that Milwaukee USA do not allow people to repair the tools, that included every repair shop that isnt working with them. Adding to that, opening the tool void the warranty too. That was stated to a guy who owned a repair shop, asked Milwaukee for blueprints to fix a broken item and they told him no and that opening the tool will void the warranty. For full video watch dude called "Rhine-labs" .

I really wish Makita would make one of those little metal cutting saws with the blade on the left. I use my wood saw all the time to cut metal and it works ok but the blade spins too fast and the chips go everywhere.

@@dougburton1999 that's kind - the continuity sound was very solid. I don't have the same meter, though - still 'solid'. Given the LED was not on either, it's very unlikely it was just the power wire leading to the brush holders, anyways.

Thanks for the vid Dean much appreciated mate. That jigsaw stuffed full of sawdust got me thinking. Why hasn’t anyone invented blades that cut on the downstroke instead of the upstroke? Cutting on the downstroke would push the sawdust away from the gearbox instead of dragging it into it and clogging the crap out of it.

    • @michaelfairchild
      @michaelfairchild 16 วันที่ผ่านมา +6

Same reason why circular saw is spinning counter clockwise. So it keeps the powertool to the material. Otherwise it would want to lift.

    • @MrArcticPOWER
