8:42 You mixed up the sides for the filters on that Makita. 😉 22:30 That‘s exactly why a lot of tools are binned for the simplest of problems as well. Repairing/modifying the tool yourself is not allowed due to safety regulations and sending it away, incl. time for testing (before and after repair) and packaging it, is not cost-effective as you don‘t know if it won‘t break a day later for a different problem. At least I occasionally get to take defective (suspected easy fixes like powercord/brushes) tools home for self-repair, as long as they‘re not brought back to work for use there or sold for profit. 🙃 Always a nice experiment if I can get them fixed and working for no or little money. 🙂 Thank you for making the videos and please keep them coming.
Loved the ratchet repair! A humble but essential tool and it was very satisfying to see it restored to refulgent life again! Ratchets unite! You work silently but solve so much! We love you!
Missouri USA here. love the videos. It bothers me that the owners cannot simply put a problem description with the tools. Construction has been my life for 30 years. Keep the videos coming. Tools have always been a part of my life. And i am always hungry for more knowledge about how to fix them.
Whenever I get in grinders from Bosch/Makita/Metabo with a broken or missing switch, I replace both the slider and the switch just in case te slider might be worn out. Both are cheap parts and it doesn't take much extra time to replace both. Still amazes me though how people are sending you baskets full or repairs without any descriptions what's wrong with them.
Memo to person taking in the tools for repair: Please attach a label describing the fault by the customer! Duh! Great repairs and thanks for making the video and sharing. Love it.
That the Bosch grinder was sent in for an 'easy' switch fix actually means nothing... the job was only easy for you! People aren't only paying for your time but for your experience and knowledge... just as if you go to a Solicitor; you're not just paying for his time but the time he spent learning the in-and-outs of Law, the Courses he took, the training and the experience.
I've had a few of these small Bosch grinders over the years, as well as Makita, and you get good mileage from them considering cost of machines and spares, but the steel fabricators I use in london use nothing but Metabo grinders. They cost more to buy , but they are the only ones that can withstand heavy use with all those metal filling being sucked into machines. How do the cost of metabo spare parts compare, Dean ?
@@orionpaillette1398 You rarely see them, apart from some multitool, which I had one of, but now use Milwaukee M12 multitool. Fein is very expensive German brand, and doesn’t get traction with tradesmen, and doesn’t have dealer network to promote / support it.
When Dean says a wean can't suck anything in it Ireland and Scotland know what he means. America and the rest of the world, why would a Wayne stick something in it 😂😂😂
Fun to see you do realistic repairs and not just fixing everything to make money. On that last Bosch grinder the 700 series... I was expecting to see you put new grease in it (not wash it but scoop out the big part of it and put fresh in. Isn't it worth it? I assume no or you'd do it but why?
There is just something beautiful in all of this. Back in the day i followed certain bumblefuck engineers doings in youtube, who took different tools apart to inspect quality, but never had i ever seen somebody fix em. Are there any tips for beginner to find parts for these?
A quick question Dean. What is the cable you're using for new power chords? I've a Bosch angle grinder that wants a new cable and I thought I'd get it to the proper flex.
Dear Dean. Ive got a makita dtd171. Brushless impact. The user used it as a hammer while installing gypsum board. No lights at all, i suspect that the black thingy above the battery holder is broken. Any way to repair it? other than changing the whole electronic assemmbly
I had a fantastic seven inch circular saw that lasted over twenty years. To clarify, I used it to lift floorboards mostly. Also fitted a few kitchens and bathrooms and ripped up a few floors. Best bit was blade clutch. Prevented any unexpected kick-back.
Bit of machine oil or grease is better in that case. WD40 isn't for long time lubrication and internal moving parts like that and evaporates too fast leaving a bit of sticky gum.
While I haven't seen every one of your videos, you don't seem to do pneumatic. My guys would love me to do them, but we just toss them in the dumpster.
Hi Dean, I’ve got a paslode IM 350/90 CT that won’t plunge all the way, I serviced it myself for a different issue and it worked perfectly for a couple shots but then won’t plunge fully so the motor doesn’t start. Any idea what the issue could be? When I have the top of the gun separate from the handle it plunges fine. Hope you can help me out.
#1 that grinder that you had to take it apart to put the switch back in should have just had a screw in the middle. #2 the switch that did not have the screw attachments but just push the ends in and the spring would hold it doesn't have enough contact area for me. I just wonder how much it would cost shipping to get some 220 volt appliances and tools television everything here in America 110 volt.

Love your repairs you explain how everything works and goes back together fantastic
Thanks 👍
Thanks, Dean - you're a 'moneys worth' of content, time after time. All the best to you and yours.
Thank you so much for that.
These repair-a-thons are wonderful! Please keep them coming.

A proper basket case of tools which have seen action, cheers

Always very satisfying 😌 👌 😊
Thanks again Dean!!!!!!!
Nice.job Dean sortin out that mess
Dean’s supply of tartan rags has depleted.

C'mon Ireland and Scotland, do your duty.
Aaah, ratchet repair is good one :)
Thanks Dean
I was hopin for a box of tools gettin gone over, but a basket of tools gettin gone over should hold me, till next time. Nice job Dean.
🍀 Love to see your work

My god, that parts washer is looking clean, lol.
The only negative thing about the 3 pin UK/IRE plug, is when you step on them with bare feet :)
But the ONLY plug you can find in the dark.

Simple minded people that send broken tools witthout any explanations, atleast put a sheet of paper with it of what it has or neeed...
Better yet a bit of paper masking tape, sticks to the machine but it's easily removable and you can write on it with any kind of pen.
Kinda always tell myself this
Not working..yhe perfect discription
@@Dr_V Yeah, atleast that, i mean, we have broken tools in the shop, but it has masking tape or a tag on it "motor is cooked", "bearing are crying" :D
For Real!!!!.!!!!!!!!!!?!!
Dean, since you got your channel back on the home page there's no videos you have to add them back on youtube studio app or something.
Thank you dont see Dewalt grinders often
I knew a couple of people from Donegal, Rick O'Shea the sniper, and Kerry Sean the Diesel rep. Aye, I did too, right enough, so I did!

So what kind of grease would you use in the gearbox of a grinder and circular saw??

Bicycle lube would work so much better than grease or oil for the ratchet

a tip for rust removal , put it in a cup of vinegar for a few hour's and it just wipes off
I hate it when people tighten the grinder lockout with the spanner. Just nip it up by hand, the tool will do the rest
👍👍
I wonder, do you ever have a failed fuse inside the plug? Reason asking is that on my side of the water we don't have integrated fuses.
Yes, that's the first thing that people normaly check

Dean, what is your take on Metabo tools outside of grinders?
Built to a price and not up to hard work. Some are good, but if they are priced cheap, they are

They weren't all basket cases after all
Nice job, I think the ratchet owner needed a can of WD 40. lol cheers bud have a good one.

GRINDER - ON IT'S 3RD SWITCH WITHIN A FEW YEARS SOMETHING ELSE'S GOING ON
