@@trabadia Perfect. I was able to get within a 0.1 of your time on the neo-slide track, so I feel like I have the concept. S4D is still not working for me though; I tap break partially through the turn, initiate the slide, but then my speed never gets me onto the platform.
@@rerunroger Nice! i have to be honest i wanted to make a map where you need a nearly perfect s4d to finish. The main thing is that you got the concept it's very good
A neo is what will permit you to drift with low speed in trackmania. You can't drift normally under a certain speed ; unless if you master the neo technique. For "bugslide" and "grass slide" are two different name for the same technique.
I thought controller is more widely used than keyboard in the new game. Keyboard players are at a disadvantage because gentle steering is hard to do on keyboards.
@@skalel5347 I'm not sure. It started out as a keyboard game and kb users are very loyal and outspoken about their use. If in the game you ask 24 users how many are using kb or controller, 1 might speak up and say "controller", to the 5 who will say "kb baby!", with the majority being silent.
@@HAL-dm1eh yeah i think players who play(ed) trackmania nf are used to playing with kb and might prefer that in the new game. Plus not everyone has an xbox controller, so they can't choose between the two.

I can't get the drift to work right. when I hold brake accelerate and turn at the same time on concrete while going fast it just brake turns, but never actually slides unless i clip through some grass or something first.
I think it's because you must wait a bit before pressing brake. Go quite fast, turn, keep turning for like 0.5 second and finally hold brake. It should work if you wait a bit

nice vid but too bad you don't teach how to do those tricks :[ I need to know how you set up your keys and which one you hit do to the tricks, thx anyway
there are arrows at the bottom left which show his exact inputs. green = accelerate red = brake, blue arrows = steering. Your control scheme is mostly personal preference but for keyboard it is important to be able to brake using your other hand that you aren't accelerating and steering with. e.g: accelerate and steer with up-arrow, left and right-arrow, and brake with left shift
That's just how the game physics work. And that's not a bad thing. It's like strafe-jumping/circle jumping in Quake or bunny hopping in CS. In real life, that wouldn't make you gain speed to awkwardly jump from side to side but it does add some flavour to the game and allows for more creative plays. I'm all for this.
nobody really knows for sure but some likely theories i've heard are that shifting the weight to one side gives you a more grip on one side and therefore more acceleration which over-compensates for the speed loss from the drift. So yeah no one knows XD
there are two variables to look at. First the minimum speed required (approximatly 200 km/h) and your momentum. It mean that if you're above 200 km/h and you're full-steering before pressing your brake button : you will drift. +200km/h --> full-steer --> keep full-steer+brake = drift
these ones might help. although they are in tm2 and tmnf, they still work exactly the same in the new game th-cam.com/video/BqPq2Ojw9kk/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/5ljCXKW0Mgo/w-d-xo.html

Try to keep your thumb in one position after you initiate the drift, do not try to overcompensate. And patience... good luck !!
@@trabadia Yep, ty. After a lot of pratice I managed to lower it. But still I'm far from getting a consistent run. The thing that I dont understand is how I should approach the first jump. I never do it the same way! I have to restart everytime because im failing a the first jump...
@@nigma3721 i can't agree more : the first jump is annoying. You should do a right/left/right+release... You can look the input of riolu here : www.twitch.tv/riolutm/clip/BloodyAggressiveDragonflyTheTarFu-_5tS-q2FYkvgqXxa hope that can help, good luck!
now that i know all traba secrets i will be able to get A01 WR in TMNF :)))
Awesome video, 👍🏾 keep it up
thanks a lot !
Thanks man
Me who doesn’t have trackmania : yes thank you
If this game didnt had subscripion i would be happy
@@luisantos1996 you dont need the subscription to play it.. only if you want to play the custom maps.
can you do one about the different terrains and how to drive on them?
i first started playing tm with the nations forever release, downloaded tm2020 a few days ago and there's a lot of new things i'm missing out
Très bonne vidéo et utile gg a toi
mercii
Can these be done with a keyboard? I prefer my keyboard generally, but I have a controller that I can try learn on if it's necessary for these techniques.
Yess everything showed here can be performed with a keyboard don't worry
@@trabadia Thank you! I've been able to master about half of the techniques so far from your training videos - with neo-slides, am I correct in that the idea is to briefly let go of both the steer and the break, while maintaining throttle, and then quickly bring them both back? Is it simultaneous?
@@rerunroger yes kinda ! It's steer -> release steering -> brake + steer (has to happen fast enough)
The main thing is that you got the concept it's very good
Would be cool if you could upload these tracks, for people to practice the techniques :)
They're at the end of the description now !
What is the song in the background?
Is the wiggle possible on a keyboard?
Can someone tell me the difference between a drift and a neo? And also the difference between a bugslide and a grass slide.
A neo is what will permit you to drift with low speed in trackmania. You can't drift normally under a certain speed ; unless if you master the neo technique. For "bugslide" and "grass slide" are two different name for the same technique.
@@trabadia Thanks man! This video was super useful.
It's about time us controller users got some representation
@@skalel5347 Well you don't have to have an xbox controller, you can go buy a cheap usb controller from a store and use that. Not that I recommend the cheapest because they don't last.
mieux que de l'asmr
I can't get the drift to work right. when I hold brake accelerate and turn at the same time on concrete while going fast it just brake turns, but never actually slides unless i clip through some grass or something first.
I think it's because you must wait a bit before pressing brake. Go quite fast, turn, keep turning for like 0.5 second and finally hold brake. It should work if you wait a bit
@@trabadia ohhh! it worked nice
It all all looks so simple but it's very hard to pull off 😢
But I'm slowly making progress ^^
Great video! Do the maps on Trackmania Exchange have medals or speed checks so we know if we pulled the technique off?
i think it should have medals ! If not, you can see how close or far you are from time in the video :/ (but im quite sure there are medals)
@@trabadia Thanks i'll do that! I love how this game is so simple to start out (my 6 year old can play) but so difficult to master. I always played fullspeed in the past but now I have to drift etc to do my best on the TOTD, this video and your tracks are really helpful, great work!
Thanks a lot ! Im very glad it can help
Nice video, awesome edit. From where you get the music?
thanks a lot ! i randomly listen it one day, it's in the description if you wanna check it
I repeat again, ICE ICE ICE techniques for the new blocks
0:31 i wouldnt have thought this almost saves -0.1
I dont get the drift. I keep trying and nothing happens when i press break and hold forward and turn...why wont it work?
you have to turn like 1/2 second before pressing brake
@@sand_la Do you know how to fix the bug where you cant break while turning left? Found out the problem is with some bug.
@@isaacdodds712 Do you have anti-ghosting on your keyboard? :D
@@isaacdodds712 maybe your keyboard doesn't support more than 2 inputs at a time?
Is it worth getting the Elite controller? Im using an Xbox one S one
No it's not. I mean i love it but it's expensive and it doesn't bring that much compared to a xbox one S pad. Your pad is very good
is wiggle only for turbo pads?
guys how to download custom track? like f1 track and play it alone
1. visit trackmania.exchange/ this is where 99% of trackmania maps are uploaded to. Find a map and click download
2. put that map file you downloaded into the follwing directory: C:\Users\YourUser\Documents\Trackmania2020\Maps\Downloaded
3. to play the map, head to the main menu of trackmania and under the local tab, click play a map. click on "local" folder and all your downloaded maps will be there
@@j-swag7438 thank you so much :)
nice vid but too bad you don't teach how to do those tricks :[ I need to know how you set up your keys and which one you hit do to the tricks, thx anyway
there are arrows at the bottom left which show his exact inputs. green = accelerate red = brake, blue arrows = steering. Your control scheme is mostly personal preference but for keyboard it is important to be able to brake using your other hand that you aren't accelerating and steering with. e.g: accelerate and steer with up-arrow, left and right-arrow, and brake with left shift
How does the wiggle even work!?
More contact to the ground so you gain more speed, so you artificially make the track slightly longer
@@TheHandyfon if the tracks longer shouldnt the time be longer aswell? lul
@@yasuo2g775 yeah but your faster
oooohw now i see what i am slipping on grass i brake as hard as possible
Helpfull video! Please make a similar video about the replay editor! basics and more plz!
some commentary would be nice but this was helpful anyway thanks
will help thanks
Is there any Trick for dirt? For Exemple the short part on the last Track of the day. Track: Speedster by Piotrunio_x
I don't get the in-game "logic" behind wiggling.. Why is it faster?
That's just how the game physics work. And that's not a bad thing. It's like strafe-jumping/circle jumping in Quake or bunny hopping in CS. In real life, that wouldn't make you gain speed to awkwardly jump from side to side but it does add some flavour to the game and allows for more creative plays. I'm all for this.
nobody really knows for sure but some likely theories i've heard are that shifting the weight to one side gives you a more grip on one side and therefore more acceleration which over-compensates for the speed loss from the drift. So yeah no one knows XD
awesome lol that wiggle is cheat...where do I get these maps for practice?
thanks ! i put those map at the end of the description, have fun
Realy nice video
thanks!
thank you
Really good!
thanks Eirik, feel free to share with everyone you think it could help !
@@trabadia So I should share it with the whole world? Gotta. Gonna start now
@@EirikHoldal ahah i guess ! ! !
sad stands for speed 4 drift
Nice one!
Hey ! I wanted to know at which km/h we can drift? Because sometimes I do the same things (imputs order) and it does a no slide...
there are two variables to look at. First the minimum speed required (approximatly 200 km/h) and your momentum. It mean that if you're above 200 km/h and you're full-steering before pressing your brake button : you will drift. +200km/h --> full-steer --> keep full-steer+brake = drift
@@trabadia it will help me alot thank you !
I need a more in-depth drifting tutorial :C The only ones I found are in other languages
these ones might help. although they are in tm2 and tmnf, they still work exactly the same in the new game
