- I think this is one of my best precision runs I've ever done in Trackmania. KarjeN's video inspired me to play this map and after many hours I actually managed to beat the old WR in this just 11 second long precision beauty.

What really frustrates me is how my .53 looks, because I've had .54 runs that looked way better and were inside the wall in every corner, but this is Trackmania and not everything always goes to plan... I guess my lines were really good nonetheless to break the magic 54 barrier.
Also since I drove this record both Sativa and KarjeN have equalled this record, which is really sick from both of them, but also expected since they are precision legends :) Only one missing is trabadia, when he can play again...
Also the phrase "perfection" is really refering to the best possible time IN trackmania here, which is 11.53, it's surely possible to drive a thousandth or two faster, but as far as Trackmania is concerned, that is equally fast.

@ Maybe for you, I don't know if you're a big car person but the main premise of the game is to get the quickest times. You probably went in expecting something else but TMNF is mainly a time trial game some like it some don't.

After the recent Track Mania Slow Motion cheating scandal I really hope this was not a part of it...
Edit: I went and looked up Donadigo's report on the cheating using the slow gamespeed cheat. From a really quick read I understood that Rollin replays were analysed among the replays of the other players in the top spots of the leaderboards. The investigation's conclusion lists the players that are thought to have cheated. Rollin isn't one of them. Good guy Rollin. I'm a new subscriber now.

You may have noticed that the car sort of jolts back and forth, resulting in the front wheel clipping through the wall. Assuming this footage was from the replay system, and not the actual run, this makes since. The game probably stores the replay as many different coordinates and angles of the car at a certain time, and just moves the car model between these points with precise timing to make it look like the car is driving. If the game takes coordinates from when the car is driving around the curve, and connects them in a straight line, then the car would seem to jolt back and forth, instead of moving on a smooth curve. That is why the car seems to jolt back and forth in the replay, but it is smooth during the actual run.
This is just a theory, I don’t know if it is correct.
that theory seems pretty spot on, we already know the game interpolates between certain points, it's especially visible when you uberbug, on A12-Speed some uberbug runs look like they go through the cp due to this
All you need to do is do a long curve at the same time as your replay (but to side so you can see it) and you'll notice that your replay doesn't do a smooth curve like you but kinda jumps around a bit because of the way the game saves replay data.
replay data in games is typically stored as player input, not state
physics ticking rate and/or input polling is probably the cause
In MW2 you never see your sniper cross hairs in the replay if you quick scope, same thing eh

I've played every single car game with that view. That's the only one that makes sense to me.
I always played WRC with that first person view, but for trackmania somehow I never used it, kind of weird
I used to do that as well but blind corners and hills are just a gamble in low cars. Now I stick to a hoodcam if one is available.
Front cam is better to see how close you can get the front end to the wall on the corner but I dont like how you cant tell how far the back end of the car is out I prefer just a very tall camera height

I once had installed a different 3D model for my car, it was an Ariel Atom, and noticed I would get better times.
Turns out the model was visually slightly narrower than the stock car so I would dare more and hug walls closer :)
Wouldnt that be considered cheating? You use a model that isnt the same as everyone elses which is stock?
@@Perambulous It doesn't affect the game on a collision basis, it's all just visual. Actually, having a visually narrower car might punish more than anything because you don't realise where your hitbox really is, so you could end up crashing your wheels into something.
In fact, I think he goes faster in view 3 not because it allows more precision, but because he can't see the wheels, so he gets closer to the wall. With the other view he would not get so close to avoid the "visual" collision.
@@MsHyeven if they model isn't smaller than the hitbox it's an advantage
LaughingMonkey It still doesn’t matter, the hit box would be the same as the model, on the regular vanilla model the hit box is slightly smaller than what it is visually, as you can see the model clips into the walls.

I think that Rollin was not accused of cheating. They scanned thousands of replays of hundreds of players who are holding WRs and Rollin is still active in TM community, the didn't find him guilty I think.
