I've always found it interesting that rider position on American and European bikes are directly related to riders position in a saddle on a horse in the same parts of the world. If you look at the way a rider is positioned in an English riding saddle the body is forward and feet back, the same as on your Ducati, or say a Triumph. Then you look at a Harley or an Indian bike the rider position is the same as a western riding saddle, feet forward and body back. Cool bike amigo, you're gonna have a ton of fun on that thing.
Look, I've slapped you with a like and written a comment to promote your channel, but I ask you not to call the 999 design weird. In my opinion, the design of the 999 is one of the most advanced and futuristic, which has surpassed its time. This is one of the best designs in the history of motorcycles. Proportions, lines, diagonal symmetry, and so on.
lol. Thanks MotoANO. I agree to a point. I don't really dislike it and I do think that they needed a change, but I just really love that iconic look. I really like the 1098, but it looks so close to the Fireblades of the same time.
@BrazenBrits In my opinion, I don't see any similarity to Fireblade and it's only from you that I see this comparison. Just get on with your business and if you insert value judgments the least, then you will have big advantages in karma, likes in videos and new subscriptions.)
Nice machine. The 999 may have been a departure from the side by side headlights of the 916, but the 916 was also a departure from the single squared headlamp design of the superbikes that came before it. Looking at it from that perspective, the 999 is more of a successor to the 888. Regardless, I love them all.
Fellow superbike owner here 👋 word of caution: wheelies normally cause oil to spill from the crankcase breather, working it's way very quickly to your rear wheel 😬 beautiful thing though. Congratulations 👏
I own a 998R and previously had the 998S, both bike had the side stand bypass switch fitted and work perfectly. The 998 came out in 02 a day finished in 04. Thanks for informing me about the Quadlock mount, I've been scratching me head on how and where to install one. Cheers 👍
They stopped making it in 2003 not 2008, as Neil Hodgson was on the 999 when he won the WSB championship. The brought it out as they got beat in 2002 by Honda and their phenomenal SP2 (yes, I’m biased) 🤣 I would however have a 998 tomorrow if I won the lottery, to sit next to my SP2, as I still think they’re both the best looking bikes ever made 😁👍🏻 Oh, and I think they had to sell 300 road bikes to qualify in WSB/BSB, which is why the Foggy Petronas FP1 had to stop racing, as they never sold enough. Finally, the frame is called a trellis frame 😁 Beautiful bike Laurence 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful ride Laurence I will send this video to my brother because he is the crotch rocket fan in our clan...I have owned bikes since i was 17, but since it was my main mode of transport i always went for comfort & carrying capacity... My family has always loved the European & Japanese bikes me included. But i broke down on my last bike & bought a Victory Vision...which was made by polaris, but discontinued after they purchased Indian. Cheers & enjoy that ride 😍😍💙💙👏👏‼️
That really depends on the production year I guess. I have a 998S from 2002. My bike does not allow me to start the engine when the kickstand is down. Does your 998 go out then, when your kickstand is down and you put her in first gear? AFAIK there was a law in Italy that prevented bikes from driving away when the kickstand is down to prevent accidents. This is also the reason why the 916 came with self folding kick stand ... which of course caused some other troubles ;-)
Yup. Still subscribed. Not a Harley guy, myself. Haven't had a bike since I sold my Gold Wing decades ago. Had dirt bikes from about 12 yrs old, to my early 20's. Rode a lot of horse trails in the woods. Sort od "enduro" type riding. Loved the video, love the bike! Cheer s! 🇨🇦🇬🇧 🇺🇸
I rode a 2001 GSXR 600 everyday for two years. Loved that bike. Have always been a fan of the Ducati 998. its a dream bike to be sure. Great video, makes me want to go buy one.
Awesome bike! Thanks for making the video on the Ducati. I think it is time for a toy hauler and it is an easy sell to Natalie. The dogs would love the outside patio.
Absolutely beautiful bike Laurance. Shame I didn’t get to ride it. So many happy memories of blasting around Cadwelll on a track day on my mates 996. Yes if it’s not Italian and Red it must be crap ha ha. Glad you understand about getting old and “it hurts” just wish the Italians did do a true comfortable tourer. TH-cam sucks. We may have to move over to Rumble. You need to do a video of a ride mate Ozello Trail would be cool.
A classic - I highly recommend the Ohlins fork internal upgrade for the Showa forks. It keeps them looking factory on the outside, but the internal valving / response is better. 2001 748 Owner Colorado.
I liked that. Still a worry riding it. BUT that's life. What bike were you riding at Silverstone on your 30th birthday and was that whdn you came off. 😢😅
Great video! Nice toy! Nice bike! Like live the color. I would love to see you do a video with you riding on the bike. Has Natalie ride on it? Will she ride on it? I don’t like Harleys myself. My brother had bikes but his were Hondas. We bought him one for Christmas one year! And try to hide that bike. It didn’t work that well hiding it. Enjoy your new toy! Have a great week and see you soon!
Of course we LOVE this video! It makes me want my f700 GS back... instead we are riding the BMW G310 GS motorcycles. We will never be able to keep up with your Ducati! 😂 Unless... you go off road. 😃 Great info. Beautiful bike. Ride safe. John and Caroline ☘
Never stop riding. I'm 66 and have 3 bikes. 98 Moto Guzzi, 11 Victory Crossbow and my BMW 07 K1200LT. Our BMW fairing is a all day removal and replace job. Jealous.
Hey @BrazenBrits what’s the name of the mount for that quad lock? I can’t find any specific built fork mounts from quad lock. Is that specific part aftermarket?
Nice bike, it's "On the list", I do have the 749 tho, and must say that it is the best sport bike I have ridden, not that I have ridden any modern stuff. 80's and 90' Italian stuff for me! 😎 Have you got the throttle button underside of throttle body for cold starts????
Love the bike and thanks for sharing, now please tell us the other posters that were on that wall!😂 Sorry Lawrence I had to ask, it’s me John from The Grand Shamrock Tour and I will be purchasing a Quadlock now thanks to Brazen Brits!…(this is my personal account)☘️
I'm near the ATL, and I have ridden with a bunch of riders over the past 30 years and not a single one of them ride a Harley.....but we do call them "sportbikes" or "crotch rocket"
Wow I did get unsubscribed, that has happened with others 😮 ... still the alga rhythm 🎶🎶🎶🎶showed the video. I like the real people vibe to your video especially your wife's (Ooo yaa not getting on the back) or something like that.
Nice toy. Not for me as the body needs more comfort. I prefer my Harley as I like to do longer rides. Enjoy the wind your face, well at least blowing through the helmet. Cheers
In the medical feild we call sport bike riders "organ doners" 😂. Its pretty looking but, like you said early in the video- we are a Harley nation, lol. Enjoy it and try not to get killed on it!

Some of the Cruisers with the wide and high Highway pegs look like an OBGYN chair rolling down the road.

The rubber strap is for storing the tool kit. There is always a tool kit with a red case

Great video on the Ducati! Please make more :) Also regarding the stand, you should be able to diconnect it so you can start it on the stand.

Thanks for sharing. I have yellow biposto. Hope to see you in the southeast Florida some day!
Thank you for the ZX7RR clip 🥰 love the 998 mate. I even had 998 on uk number plate on my 7 🤣 great vid 👏
Glad you enjoyed it and well spotted 🤩
Beautiful ride Laurence

You can have the bike idle with kickstand down I have no issue with this on my 998

@@7rslender my engine stops when kick stand is down and engaged in gear. But otherwise it will idle fine in N with kick stand down. My is a 2002 base.

You can disconnect the wire to the sidestand so you can start the bike with the sidestand out.
Fantastic video! Well done. Thank you for putting this video together. Enjoyed the interesting facts, and knowledge.
Glad you enjoyed it Mike 😁

USB or the Universal Serial Bus was put to market in 1996. USB 2.0 came in the year 2000 which improved the data transfer possibilities greatly.
My dream bike 🤩 Great video and beautiful machine enjoy and ride safe.

I'm restoring a 2001 996S. Once I get it running we should met up for a ride since by the looks of it you're in NW FL?
I liked that. Still a worry riding it. BUT that's life.
What bike were you riding at Silverstone on your 30th birthday and was that whdn you came off. 😢😅
Yes, it was a Yamaha R1. But quicker than this bike.
Adorable tonka toy!
Great colour....ok then.
Have fun while your body parts can survive the ride lol. 🍻
Hahaha

Cool bike. If you want to do another video, you could always have GrabMan demonstrate the features. 😂
Good idea! 😂
That looks so dangerous! Just sayin I'd be a nervous wreck if Chris had one of those.

Nice bike. Ps. It's a Mono Posto not Mono Pista
I always get it wrong 🤣🤣 Natalie’s Italian Family will be very disappointed in me!
Great bike🎉
S😊 cool! Have fun my friend! ❤️🔥
Thank you 🤗
Laurence, there's enough space in the boot for a flip phone. Just ordered a quadlock for my truck.
Looks like my SuzukiSV 650! Except its red 🤣🤣🤣
Basically the exact same 🤣
Duke swift nimble smooth nice scooter putt, pain N the arse maintainance..Watch your valve ajustments, zing zing.
Very nice bike.
Thanks Jonathan!
MotoAmerica Superbike races at Barber Motor Sports, Birmingham, AL. May 17-19.
Love it i have 97 916
May be just on the video but your rear suspension looks really high? I think it’s lower on mine
Damn it …. Im still subscribed 🤣🤣
😂😂

your cooling fan should have kicked in
That is a great condition 998, it belongs in a museum. I'd be too afraid to ride it and break any parts that are no longer produced.
The electrics are shit because they use spaghetti as wires
Mmmm, spaghetti 🍝
