Love your views and thoughts here Doug, art is a super drug!I’ve gone from doing odd bits of sketching through out the year to having to do something daily,I hate it if I have to miss a day because of appointments etc! I’ve not quite got the courage to go Somewhere to sketch but I have sat in my garden and done a little scene and that’s thanks to one of your tutorials!!On the whole I’ve achieved this through listening and watching your channel. Not only do you do you share painting\sketching techniques, you also give great pep talks and keep it fun and easy listening!Thank you!Art has given me a new lease of life..I LOVE IT!!😃❤️
That's fabulous to hear. It makes my heart sing!!! I love the fact that its all about celebrating your life and celebrating yourself. Your support has means a lot and is much appreciated. 🙏😀👍
Great words of wisdom Doug, your channel is so refreshing. You have inspired me so much that I am now an avid sketchbooker, I always have a sketchbook with me. Thank you.
Number 5, not having goals, is the best thing about being retired and spending more time painting. And you know what the worst thing is that you can ask someone like me? It's "What have you been painting today?” or "Have you been painting today?" I'm retired and the days of having to advance projects or create output every single day are behind me. Asking questions like this make me think I'm failing if I don't paint every day and that's a sure way to suck all the joy out of my painting.
I feel your pain. This channel is pretty small and even with Patreon its only making a couple of hundred bucks a month. Yet it still needs constant content. Its hard when you feel accountable and also you've made a commitment to 'have a go!' and learn new things. I basically don't really talk about my art to a lot of my friends, Feels like its sacred and secret to me then.
As a student id do it all the time. As an adult it took a few months to get more confident but you should just go for it. It really builds confidence. Its only paper after all. 😂🙏

one thing art has taught me is my priorities have changed a bit ...... rent, utilities ... art supplies come next... who needs food ? right ? LOL 😜
❤❤❤❤
No wonder I love sketching & watercolor - you have voiced many of the benefits we enjoy by doing art!
Thanks. Yes it really is a wonderful pastime. Frustrating at time but wonderful.😀

our urban sketching group in johannesburg is made up of diverse people but they are all wonderful, kind and fun.
Sounds like a lot of fun.😀
It's fantastic how you can draw with a pen from the beginning of your composition.... how long was it before you could do this without pencil first?

I couldn’t find a hamster. So I’m painting with my dog. He’s luvvin it.
🤣
I get the dog to paint for me...

One thing art has taught me is to buy more pencils. I am currently drawing with one that's less than 2 inches long!
I appreciate your thriftyness. Maybe you need one of those pencil holder so you can use the last 1 cm...😂
@@dougjacksonart A Good idea but I might tape it to another pencil so far it has drawn 31 boats.
