Well 3 years later the 2023 version of the 18 year just made it to my area and I scooped it up because only one case came in. Ugh $178 plus tax wasted. Thanks for the honest and fun review. Bad news is better from you guys.
Agreed, the Cask Strength 10 year is my favorite GlenAllachie. If you enjoyed batch one just wait until you try batches 4 and 5. They are phenomenal. By the way, Billy Walker wasn’t “with” Glendronach, but rather owned Glendronach until 2016. Then he (along with the same two partners) bought GlenAllachie in 2017. GlenAllachie will just continue to improve as the years go on. There is no greater blessing than to have a master blender who is also a whisky enthusiast that owns the company.
Is there a newer more heavily sherried version of the 18? Seem to have seen that somewhere. Very much want to try the 25. Thats espresso dark sherried.
Great to see Scott's palate improving, some research for you lads, GlenAllachie's bottlings are done at Broxburn Bottlers hence the BB on the lot code you were looking at, in the bottom right corner. It will also show you the line number it was bottled down, the date and the time of bottling in good old UK style eg 08 06 18 is the 8th of June 2018, not 6th of August 2018 as you guys would know it. Final tip its much easier to read if you tilt the bottle so the spirit is away from the lot code and the etching catches the light. Is GlenAllachie the new Glendronach? Cheers
I love the 12 the best. I think the other expressions will be amazing in the near future. Billy Walker knows what he's doing and the rumour is that he has invested heavily in casks. When he has the casks he brings magic, so eventually GlenAllachie will really achieve it's potential. I'm really loving the reviews guys. Scott should watch his earlier comeback reviews, his pallete is finding it's feet for sure.
Definitely true on the progression of Glenallachie batches. I've had the luck to try a 2018, 2019 and 2020 12 year old (by pure happenstance) and it was unmistakable. Early one was austere and mineralic like it was mostly refill bourbon. The bottle I had last year was a great mix, similar to maybe a Balvenie 12, and the one I bought a month ago looks like straight up sherry. It's not just a sherry bomb though, thankfully, it still has some malty notes & a bit of distillery character. I like Glenallachie's character. I hope it doesn't *all* become sherry monsters.
I bought the Glenallachie 12 a couple of years ago because of Ralfy's WOTY, and I wasn't impressed. After about a month and almost 1/2 a bottle, it transformed into a great whisky. On your point scale it might've gone from an 85 to a 90. Maybe the same will happen to the 18. $150 is kind of steep though. Cheers fellas 🥃🍻🤙
Great review! Just picked up the 18 at Binny’s on clearance for $80! Bart, right with you on the frosting notes! Much stronger on Roques Banquet, but still an excellent palate and nose for the frosting. Cheers!🥃
Great review guys and I definitely agree with Bart that the 10yr CS is my favorite of the versions I have tried (10yr Batch 3 & 4, 12, 15 and 14 yr Single Cask 7862). The 10yr seems almost older than all the others so maybe some older in there? I will say the single cask (port) was not what I expected for port and was lighter/brighter and very wine influenced, but not the richer port influence I have seen in others. Would love a blind shootout!
Drew, honestly from years of drinking whisky, I've realized I prefer young cask strengths more than older whiskys regardless of the distillery. Benromach 10CS, Springbank 12CS, Tamdhu BS, Kilkerran 8 CS, etc. You get the point.
I absolutely love Glenallachie and what they doing, so far everything I tried was delicious. I'm still chasing 10-year-old, and looking forward when the new wine finish collection shows up in United States. If you guys going to have a chance to do a lineup and see which one you guys like better comparing one to another would be awesome. Great review as usual and thank you.
Hi bart and Scott Hope you are doing great, I watch all your videos, and just wanted to let you know that if you can, get a bottle of glenallachie 2008 port pipe 12year old, it's spectacular whiskey, cinnamon and vanilla, it's my favorite scotch out of the glenallachie whiskeys, cheers !!!
We were talking about a non-blind family shootout but Blind would also be fun. Bart's been thinking we should poll the viewers and see which version they want based on thumbs received. That would also help the shows visibility.
both great choices. the newer batches of the Glenallachie 18 will be more sherried than the Farclas. for close to the same money you could get the Farclas 25.
Starting out with Bart flashing some kinda gang signs?! Should be a good vid. Really enjoying the 12 year and especially the 10 year CS. Haven't tried this 18.
Bart always favor higher ABV, particularly cask strength offerings! Even more so, he favors peated over non-peated (and does not really like any sherry aged dram). I therefore do not really value his overall opinion of most scotches reviewed by you. He is is just too prejudice in his judgements.
Bart here. Some of our fans use are scoring system in reverse. What I don’t like they do. Also when Scott and I both score highly that’s a great bottle to seek out. Lastly, there are several sherry aged Dram’s I like, just usually not as much as peat, baby.

Thanks for the info Malty. We agree with the Enthusiast analysis.
Just great, no BS reviews, entertaining, mood lifting! Love watching these 🥃🥃
Glad you enjoy it! thanks Mark!
I agree about the 10 and even the 12. It will be interesting as Billy Walker continues working his magic and the future sure looks bright.
Bright indeed

i think this is an early release of the 18

looking forward to trying newer batches. sometimes i like a good sherry bomb and sometimes i like a nice balanced one too.

thanks mamuka, will wait for scotts palate to fully return before any comparison happens!
Hi bart and Scott

Thanks for the tip! will definitely watch for it!
Y’all know I’m a big fan of the family shootouts so look forward to that. Would have liked a quick comparison to a competitors here.
good call on the comparison, thanks Scotch Barrel!
Nice job guys! I've only had the 12 and the 10CS so far. 1🥃
excellent , thanks Jon
Hey guys when you guys going to get more challenge coins, I try to get some but shows out of stock.
the farewell to 2020 coins are in stock, but no cask 6 coins yet. they're probably a few months out.
"We don't do the research , just the tasting and the booze" ,
sounds legit, Gentlemen! 😄
Boom
You should make a video about the Scotch named Black Dog... I wonder in what kind of "style" Bart would gonna test that one 😆😅
Woof
Hey Dummies! Greetings from Albuquerque. Have you guys reviewed Smoke Wagon uncut unfiltered yet? If so do know which episode #? Cheers Dummies 🍻
we have not. we haven't seen any of the smoke wagons in our area
Will there be a blind shootout of the range to see which is your favorite of the range?
We were talking about a non-blind family shootout but Blind would also be fun. Bart's been thinking we should poll the viewers and see which version they want based on thumbs received. That would also help the shows visibility.
They have this at Costco for $85
WOW! That is a great price
Wow what state?
Would you suggest I pick this or the farclas 21 up??
both great choices. the newer batches of the Glenallachie 18 will be more sherried than the Farclas. for close to the same money you could get the Farclas 25.
@@ScotchTestDummies i have just heard the 21 is better is all. Never know till you try it yourself though I guess
Scott, I don't think anyone was with Bart on that "vote" thing.
haha! thanks Jimmy!
Sorry I'm late! Let's teeeessstttt iiiitttt!
TEST IT!!!!!!! Boom
I washed my salute to 2020, chipped the coin. 2020 wouldn't have it any other way!
2020 definitely has its rough edges
Good morning
Good Morning Gerald
sounds amazing. i bet this is around $150 Edit: looks like i was right on the price.
edit: correct!

Bart calls that his POUND sign
#trustbart is just another way of saying, "Let the Wookie Win." #bartisawookie
I like it...like it a lot.
Doesn’t look like an 18yr old tho. Very light…

every once in awhile he'll surprise you with with something...aka Royal Brackla 16 year at 40%!!!
