      chiaha chigo I’m not an expert or professional, but I would surmise that because the Niacinamide serum is water-based and the arbutin oil-based, the Niacinamide serum goes first. A Biochemist, Kenna, has a video on YT about how to layer products, and she mentions these two products from The Ordinary in demonstrating.

    at this point im so confused about the layering of the ordinary products

    • @jennistone8740
      @jennistone8740 4 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      Pm that is also what makes the company so problematic in my opinion. you have to buy and layer so many products to actually get long term results that an entire evening routine probably costs you around the same price as higher end serums and moisturizers. Because the average consumer doesn’t have enough knowledge about ingredients and how to layer them, there is a high risk that you end up doing more damage than good, despite seeing quick results. It bothers me that Estée Lauder is behind the company, because at the end of a day you’re still supporting a monopolistic enterprise that has a lot of shady business going on. You shouldn’t have to watch multiple videos to feel comfortable using your skincare. Also their formulations (I’m a chemistry student) are very basic, you don’t know where Estée Lauder gets their raw materials from and i doubt that they have quality control when they order huge batches and hundreds of thousands of units, since they’re not legally obligated to do so. Having brands like The Ordinary allows them to pretty much dictate and control the market, they set prices for both luxury and cheap skincare, crippling small “Made in America” brands. Frankly, I don’t understand why she supports them.

    • @pm660
      @pm660 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @@jennistone8740 thank you so much for the detailed information. I have been doing my research and taking notes for days. but it was still confusing and as you said I was afraid of damaging my skin by mixing active compounds. I think I will order some retinol and moisturizer from la roche posay and call it my skincare routine :D

    • @jennistone8740
      @jennistone8740 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Pm La Roche Posay belongs to L’Oréal, so their quality control is probably similarly unreliable, but they own some of the best patents for certain ingredients and formulas. LRP is also more consumer friendly than The Ordinary. I’m French and it’s probably the most popular skincare brand here. I highly recommend their Sunscreens (most modern filters on the market) and their Toleriane line. I haven’t tried their retinol product, but I just checked the list of ingredients and its pretty straight to the point. Just make sure you build up your tolerance and use something more hydrating in the morning. Most importantly, don’t forget your sunscreen! If you’re interested in Retinol, I recommend Paula’s Choice. She has a great guide on her website and offers different percentages for beginners and long-term users. Hope this helped. Good luck :)

But after watching your videos I have full trust in what you recommend, Unfortunately but fortunately I’m on antibiotics for my acne (internal and topical) makes me dizzy and seasick but I never seen my face so smooth and soft which motivated me to start being picky with what I put on my face … and like I said Your videos are very interesting, affordable and work!
    I’ve been using retin A to sleep 2 a week , clindamycin day and night , elta md 45spf sunscreen and washing my face with Curology face cleansing foam and rarely their moisturizer which I really like but also don’t know what your review on their products are so far !!

    I wanted to ask something about the vitamin c...I have and use the vitamin c 23% suspension and I have read that if u pair the vitamin c in the morning before ur sunscreen it can boost the effect of the sunscreen and protect u even more...Is that true? Or should I stick to use vitamin c on the evening?

    I would love if you did this but with what each product would be great to be mixed with (or which step of the routine it is) and what it should be mixed with (if any).
    So for example, glycolic acid toner - night time, after cleanser, mixes great with --, wait five minutes before you use niacinimide or lactic acid.

      Zannatul Fardaus girl u and I both.. I do a new routine each week to see what my skin likes. This week for the am I’m using the l asorbic acid in my moisturizer on damp skin. For the pm I’m using the retinoid 5 percent In squalane. Somehow the retinoid in squalane is breaking me out, it might be the mask I’m wearing when I go outside. Not sure.. try a routine each week and see what your skin loves

    • @brianp9483
      @brianp9483 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From your list I would suggest - (what I use and have had great results)
      AM Daily Niacinamide, Caffeine and vitamin C. All work great together and can boost the effects (caffeine can be used all over the face not just undereye)
      PM Daily Retinol 2% then follow with the hyaluronic acid and moisturiser.
      PM every few days or once/twice a week the Glycolic acid toner. You will see at first you probably get a lot of dead skin off your face, after a short while this reduces so you can reduce the number of times you use it.
      PM once a week The AHA (not the same night as the Glycolic acid toner).
      I would check your toner, face wash and moisturiser to see if they have hyaluronic acid - they probably do so you can skip that step. If they don't then follow up your retinol with it then moisturise or add to your morning mix (which ever suits you). I hope that helps
