So now I'm kind of wondering if there's some that they're not telling us. But if you're looking for one the Inkey List has a BHA serum and it works just as well I'm currently using it.

    • @tara_27244
      @tara_27244 5 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      TheFelixMaier correct. My mouth dropped when she said that.
      I’m pretty sure the AHA/BHA must be removed after maximum of 10 minutes as it’s a peel treatment not a leave on product. She mentioned it the video it was optional to wash off and I just wanted to mention I don’t think that’s correct according to the directions and strength. Perhaps edit in the comments so someone doesn’t follow this literally and get a chemical burn. First time users probably want to do half the time to be cautious. Then increase as tolerated.

    • @littlechivita

    • @aj5374
      @aj5374 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I used it for 20-30 min for a while, it just made my skin much dryer over time. If it was that dangerous to use it more than 10 min they wouldn’t even sell it.

    • @tara_27244
      @tara_27244 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A J well matter of fact they don’t sell it in Canada for that reason. It exceeds the strength of AHAs they allow to be sold here for at home use. 30% would be professional use only so if I wanted a chemical peel I can get it by licensed salon or estheticians, derms etc. They also don’t sell the drunk elephant baby facial here for the same reason. So some countries take more conservative standards to ingredient strengths in over the counter skin care products and cosmetics.
      most people may not be able to tolerate that product for longer than 10 mins. you’re lucky your skin can/did.

    I’m a licensed Esthetician who used to work at Deciem and here are my 2-cents:
    1. The granactive retinoid is not retinol. It is a Trans ester of retinol/ hydroxypinacolone retinoate. It stimulates natural exfoliation (which stimulates collagen, reduce oil production, shed pigmentation) without the drying & irritating effects of regular retinol (with the same or better effect since it’s directly bioavailable).
    2. Please wash off the aha+bha peeling solution. You have to. In fact, wash it off after 5 minutes if it’s your first time since it’s tricky to wash off in time. Use 1-2x a week.
    3. Map isn’t the best moisturizer- its formulated as a treatment product not as a moisture step. You can if you like, but i would apply a moisturizer on top honestly.
    4. Oils are more conditioning than hydrating (hydro=water) and borage had a high level of gamma linoleic acid which helps with sensitivity but is not for all skin types due to its fatty acid composition. If you are dry to normal this is great, but if your oily/combo, chia seed is better.

    • @marcia6010
      @marcia6010 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Can you help me with a question I have regarding their granactive retinoids? Most of them come diluted in squalane. Because it's an oil it should be applied after moisturizer, but treatments are supposed to be applied before moisturizers... Which way is the most effective?
      Also, will the 2% granactive retinoid in squalane and the 2% granactive retinoid emulsion work the same? One's oil based, the other's water based... Will they have the same efficacy?
      I'm sorry for all the questions, hope you can educate me. :)

    • @milkyshakes
      @milkyshakes 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Márcia you can use it in place of a moisturizer with a hydrating serum before it like hyaluronic acid since a moisturizer is just an oil and water based ingredient forced together. Or you can add a couple of drops of it to your moisturizer. The emulsion is a bit stronger than the 2% squalane and should be layered after hydrating serums.

      Chrissy Mullins for all those conditions I would recommend in the day time to wear the alpha Arbutin+ha and niacinimde+zinc 2% under sunscreen to increase hydration retention, slow oil production and inhibit hyperpigmentation. At night, start with arbutin+ha, exfoliate with the mandelic acid to start every third night and follow up with either the NMF moisturizer or good oil’ squalane oil. Once or twice a week mask with salicylic 2%.

    After a year of trying all different products, prescriptions- I tried the Ordinary. I had WEIRD acne. It took 4 months and my acne was GONE. Amazing!!!! My routine was:
    AM: Glycolic acid, Buffet, Niacinamide 10% & Zinc 1% (very strong- I had a purge period, very bad on neck/jaw).
    PM: Vitamin C (amazing for brightening &healing scars) Rosehip Oil (also great for healing scars).
    Be careful bc some of these products you cannot use at the same time of day. ex) vitamin C and niacinamide.
    Always use sunscreen.
    Also the AHA & BHA - once a week . SUPER STRONG, burns at 1st but very good!! WASH OFF AFTER 10 min no longer! Not like a mask- longer is NOT better!

      Rachel M I got really large cystic acne spots on my jaw line down into my neck where I was putting it for about a month. A few pimples here and there. One would pop up, go away, another one or 2 would come. It went away. If it continues for too long, it may not be the right product for you- like she mentioned in the video! :)

    I love the ordinary because it is a super affordable (and their company as a whole is very sustainable and focuses on fair trade and doing good) and it is great way for the average person to step up their skincare game without spending all their money.
    Their products are afoot sable for anyone. The only thing I could complain about is that their products do require you as the consumer to have quite a bit of knowledge as to what each product is good for and what they am products helps treat. So I wish their site was a bit more user friendly and used more laypersons demean so any person could stumble upon the and get their products..
    I use The Ordinarys Products to treat my concerns. I keep a basic cleanser/micellar water and moisturizer and I change all my other products on the daily depending on what my skin is doing.

    Thank you so much you Angel! This has made it so much easier for me to understand what I should and shouldn't be using. My personal favourite is the niacinamide + Zinc- it had massively reduced my breakouts and my blackheads and my pores look visibly smaller. I also love using the Salicylic acid as a spot treatment for if I have a particularly inflamed breakout as I find it too irritating to apply all over the face.

    I use so much stuff and my skin looks great. I’m sure I go overboard and probably could eliminate some but eh. I use Retin A, Buffet with coppper, vit c mixed with ferulic, naicinimide, HA, and lactic acid. Sunscreen is an absolute. I’ve had to do a lot of research though because so many things shouldn’t be mixed together or they become ineffective or can cause irritation. The Buffet really can’t be mixed with other products, as least that’s what I gather from reading up on it. I alternate my routine every other night.

      Diya Gupta Retin A should help. Don’t use any oil based products or facial oils. Try BHA and AHA’s to help with evening out the skin tone and it should also help with your pores. Honestly not sure if there’s much to do for tightening. I use the Nuface daily and take Vital Proteins collagen peptides. Don’t know that it helps but it’s worth the shot. Hope this helps some.

    Who else is a beginner with all these products and wants a video from her explaining which ones can be used together in the morning/evening and what order to apply them?! I just got an order in and I ordered a ton of different products from the Ordinary and feel lost on which to use with what etc and how often to use each one. For example she has a video saying that the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA with the Caffeine solution + ECGC work well together in the evening for hydration and reducing puffiness in the morning. Would if I also want to use the retinol? Do I use the retinol first and then put that other combo on afterwards? Those type of questions I have as a beginner just want to make sure I’m using them properly and know what order and what can be used in morning or night etc. Like this comment if you also need more info on this? Am I alone here? Haha I just want to learn more and understand better and only use what’s necessary and works together. 😊 I need help! Haha

      Please don't leave the Peeling solution on your skin. You could possibly get a chemical burn. It is only suppose to be left on for 10 minutes. Also, It should not be applied as thick as was shown in the video. I started using products from The Ordinary three years ago. My skin can now take almost anything I throw at it, but when I first started, I developed a serious skin burn on my cheeks. Less is more with these products😊 Also, add one product at a time and use for a week or so before adding another. For example, my skin did not like the Buffet or some of the vitamin C formulas. But they work great for other people!

    I love the ordinary. I think you forgot to talk about the hyaluronic acid serum. I layer the serum and then the natural moisturizing factors. I have dry skin but layering them has helped alot instead of just using one or the other. You said that hyaluronic acid might actually dehydrate your skin. I have not had problems with dehydration but could that become a problem with layering the two products? I also like the glycolic acid solution they have.

    • @Patti-1962
      @Patti-1962 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Selena Mattel I LOVE the hyaluronic acid serum! I apply it right after cleansing my face morning and evening. But, I leave my face WET. Then I give it time to dry and really sink into my skin (at least 5 minutes). Then I apply the rest of my skincare. This also makes it less "sticky"!

    • @xursssulaxx
      @xursssulaxx 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      hyaluronic acid doesn’t dehydrate your skin. It holds up to 1000x it’s weight in water. I did a research presentation on it for my organic chemistry lab. HA gets rid of fine lines over time and basically plumps your skin when applied topically. We naturally produce HA in our body, most of it is in our skin, but we also have some in the fluid of our eyes and joints. It’s purpose is to lubricate. Due to environmental stressors like UV exposure from the sun and pollution, our skin’s levels of hyaluronic acid are relatively low. So we can fix that by topically applying hyaluronic acid to our skin. It helps our skin become more plump and hydrated/supple. Great for anti-aging. And on that note, consuming vitamin E daily can also help prevent early signs of aging because vitamin E is a natural antioxidant.
