That clean tone is beautiful. Just enough reverb as well. Lovely stuff - only wish it were longer!

Very cool. Wish more people outside of metal saw more potential in extended range instruments. There used to be a small group of people doing original compositions on these huge 11 or 12 string ("full range") basses but that's always been niche and I haven't seen any of it in a while.
I love that clean Abasi neural dsp tone . Reminds me of the tone from Modern Meat & Point to Point from AAL's first album .
8 string was meant for fingerstyle jazz its truly a lap piano I hope to share a rendition of Autum Leaves on mine soon
Finally not the usual metal-noise with an 8 string guitar. So, more and more can be done with that kind of guitar. Unfortunately the best ones have few views and likes.. The best is for the few! Kind regards and honor to George Van Eps! Ciao :)

I'm not a guy who posted this video but the 8 string is tuned to E and the 7 string is tuned to B. It's a tuning Tosin Abasi usually uses.

Yeah, looks like his signature TAM-10. Drop E feels like a really good tuning on 8
Yeah Drop E is killer on 8 string, since you can just use every other chord you would play on 6 string and just extend on the bass strings

You probably played 6 string guitars for decades? When you started on 8 string, did it feel totally different? When I bought my 7 string, I couldn’t play simple songs, without making mistakes. (House of rising sun) I didn’t touch 6 string for month) Everyday i practiced my 7 string. After two weeks I thought I was comfortable. But I didn’t know where I was on fretboard. Two weeks before I realize low B string is same notes as high B string. Great playing!

Hi Rory, sorry I don't have tabs, but see th-cam.com/video/nJrdfFmry3A/w-d-xo.html for most of the chords. I transposed it upwards by a half step and tuned the lowest two strings to E and B in order to play the pedal notes.

FINALLY ! EVERY other film I have seen of people with 8 or 10 string guitars are of the musically uneducated with absolutely NO discernment for class, taste or elegance in physical touch.

I have only a few questions.
1) Is it tuned to the standard tuning of a 8 string classical guitar ?
2) When played through a Boss GT-001 Affects Processor, could the guitar achieve that "smooth jazz sound" as in the film below ? That is to play, the Johnny Smith songbook, light repertoire of Tarrega, Sor, etc.

@@globalonemusic2381 Hi Antione, 1) for the lowest two strings I use different tunings, in this song E and B (so drop E tuning). 2.) This beautiful archtop sound you will only get from an acoustic guitar, but I also like the sound of solid body guitars. However, you will need to use an amp (simulation) in the GT-001. Cheers, Tom
