      I feel your pain. My wife wants new night stands. I made them about 6 years ago. I hate finishing. They have been in my shop waiting finish. I'll try to get to them after taxes. Really enjoy your videos.

    I like that locking method the best out of all of the flip tops I've seen! I don't have another tool that would fit on the other side nicely, so I'll have to file this away for now.

    Really cool design👍😍, I love the locking block system. This is the first time I've seen that on a flip top. I have just moved into a new home and will be attempting to utilize a 2 car garage as my shop while still affording my wife the luxury of parking inside. Thank for the space saving idea. New friends here.

    This video couldn't have come at a better time! I'm looking at that exact planer and that exact sander and was wanting to somehow make a cart like that one but had concerns of how durable it would be over time. Love the block system you used and love the channel man! Awesome job!

    I'm in the middle of a flip top build and I think I'm gonna copy your latching mechanism. Very clever. Btw, you should make your videos a bit longer. The TH-cam algorithm recommended your sawstop review and then I scrolled through your vids and the builds and content are great. I think 10-20min vids get more views which you deserve.

    • @EveningWoodworker

      Thanks man! Yeah I'm trying to figure out what the optimal video length is, but yeah the longer ones do seem to be doing better

  • @tlbrasel

    Very slick design - especially the locking mechanism as many have mentioned. Just bought the plans - very professionally done. Has anyone built this for the DeWalt DW734 planer? Almost every fliptop table I see on the interwebs was built for the DW735. The 734 is a PITA to remove the dust shroud - I don't want to do it - and therefore the outfeed table can only raise about 45 degrees. Not sure if the plans as drawn will handle that planer? It's not straightforward to mock it up and figure it out.

    • @EveningWoodworker
      @EveningWoodworker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The important thing is the height. If the height is comparable, it should be fine. You could also find a model of the 734 in Sketchup and add it to the model in the plans to see if it fits. Thanks for supporting the channel!

  • @justkjthings
    @justkjthings ปีที่แล้ว

    How is the height of the spindle sander? Is it easy to work with that high?

    • @EveningWoodworker
      @EveningWoodworker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! It's actually easier to sand to a line because it's closer to your eye level... but it's not too high

    What do you think about putting planer on one side and other side being part of a miter saw bench? Would it be so unbalanced as to be unusable?

    • @EveningWoodworker
      @EveningWoodworker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems like it would be tough to flip over because of the weight. It may also cause the top to warp or sag over time with a planer on one side and nothing on the other.

  • @dianedoiron1447

    Hi, I downloaded the plan for the flip table, I really like the lock mechanism, how do I find them on Amazon?

    • @EveningWoodworker
      @EveningWoodworker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for getting the plans! The locking mechanism is essentially T-bolts (amzn.to/3OOwuLN) and knobs that you can tighten with your hand (amzn.to/3ETzK3H). You don't have to get these exact ones, but I prefer 1/4-20 bolts and knobs. Send me an email if you have any other questions.

    • @EveningWoodworker
      @EveningWoodworker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they were at Rockler, but they should be locking both directions of rotation.

  • @mikegallagher782
    @mikegallagher782 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Jared. I’ve got the same planer and sander and I just bought the plans. Very nicely designed and illustrated! For the 1/2” steel bar, would 1/2” cast iron pipe work as a replacement?

    • @EveningWoodworker
      @EveningWoodworker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for getting the plans! Yes I think a pipe could work as long as the outside is fairly smooth and the walls aren't super thin. That will keep the rotation smooth and not dig out the wood whenever it rotates.

  • @gregbozard3319
    @gregbozard3319 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If the flip top table were a bit wider would you still have to remove the planer out feed table?

    • @EveningWoodworker
      @EveningWoodworker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The main thing that limits the outfeed table folding up is the location of the dust collector connection. It's more difficult to remove than the outfeed table.

      Couldn't the owner be rotated 90⁰ so the outfeeds don't interfere with the sides of the cabinet?

    • @rileysimpson417

      Outfeed rotated, not owner

      Then you have to account for the raising/lowering handle which sticks out a good 5-6"

    What is the height above the floor of the outfeed table on your planer? I'm wondering if it will clear my existing 34"H outfeed table that I would like to roll it up to.

    • @EveningWoodworker
      @EveningWoodworker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wood feeding into the planer sits at about 37" off the ground. Should clear a 34" outfeed table.
