    I really liked this form (hehe) of community engagement!
    If you do something similar again - which I hope you'll do - maybe consider adding an "I don't know" option for each item in the questionnaire. Otherwise people need to guess which skews the averages towards 50%

    I'm not too upset that I wasn't satisfied with the direct, because there are many upcoming games from the last direct to look forward to. I hope to see a September direct, but do not expect there to be one. Managing expectations is the best way to avoid disappointment, something many Nintendo enthusiasts seem to forget about.

    I'm gonna say I called it. In the feedback section I said it would be a partner showcase, but with a different name or a twist, and I think combo-ing it with the indie showcase counts as that. 8)

    In light of this latest Partner Showcase, I have a peculiar suggestion for a possible third-party deep dive: The Tetris Company... And Tetris Holding LLC, and Tetris (formerly known as Blue Planet Software)-let's just call them "the Tetris family of companies" for simplicity's sake.
    Ever since Tetris helped catapult the Game Boy into ubiquity, Tetris and Nintendo have had a demonstrably close (albeit non-exclusive), longstanding relationship-and why shouldn't they? Alexey Pajitnov and Shigeru Miyamoto are both "fun first, story last"-type game designers, even if they've never had the chance to share more than a few words or a smile with each other (although each of them admire the other's work greatly). In short, their video game design philosophies align VERY closely, despite coming from massively different cultures.
    Both Nintendo and The Tetris Company are also keenly protective of their respective IPs, in each case for understandable historical reasons. In fact, it's in this field of intellectual property that you can see just how closely they've cooperated with each other: Tetris Holding has the rights to the Tetris theme song today, even though the tune was arranged by (at the time) Nintendo composer Hirokazu Tanaka. The same could be said of the handheld and console rights to Tetris, which are now held by Tetris Holding despite Nintendo having had them at around the time of Game Boy and NES Tetris. Clearly, the two companies had (and still have) a very respectful relationship.
    So, too, can this continuing corporate relationship be seen in Tetris's presence on Switch: I don't think there's been a single video game console with as many different Tetris releases as the Switch currently has: In all, there's Arcade Archives: Tetris The Grand Master, Arcade Archives: Tetris The Absolute Grand Master 2 Plus, Puyo Puyo Tetris, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, Tetris 99, Tetris Effect: Connected, and the Game Boy version of Tetris which was a launch title for Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online. And soon, on top of all of that, these titles will be joined by NES Tetris's addition to Nintendo Entertainment System - Nintendo Switch Online, and Tetris Forever!
    Among these, Tetris 99 stands out for having been on the console since its second year, yet still seeing regular Maximus Cup events to this day, advertising new Nintendo (or, in this forthcoming instance, Tetris) games. The other big standout, to my mind, is the fact that Game Boy NSO *launched* with Tetris-just like the Game Boy itself had all those years ago. Surely, that can be taken as a sign of how close these two juggernauts of gaming still are! There's still more to their relationship to explore, such as Tetris DS and the like, or how Tetris technically doesn't really have an "in-house" developer, hence why The Tetris Company keeps sub-licensing the Tetris trade dress out to various development companies-somewhat opposite to how Nintendo handles its own IP. Again, I think it could make for a very interesting deep dive sometime!

    As the person who gave the 30% forecast of Silksong, I am very glad I did not keep it at my original 50% forecast. XD Thanks for the shoutout. Sounds like we may never see this game.

    I’m also not expecting a general Direct in September. There was none in Feb which surprised me, but that’s why June Direct was so “meaty”. 2024 is a transition year towards Switch 2 so really, we shouldn’t expect the usual yearly schedule.

    Would like to see the crowdsource forecast for new hardware release date.
    The Japan Direct assigning Hundred Line all the way out to April 24 bummed me out that new hardware launch is now more likely mid-to-late May or June than it was April or very early May. Some games (like Metroid Prime 4) can get away a vague 2025 date and either be cross-generation or dedicated successor hardware title, but Hundred Line from a tiny developer doesn't seem to fit this mold and almost certainly a Switch 1 title. Seems foolish to schedule an action game during a time when any new hardware launch (and its action titles) could completely bury it.

    The forms end "What else do you think" question was quite an interesting and fun box to fill out, as I was kinda able to evaluate what I personally want v.s. what I think will happen in a sort of objective way. Even though my first party guesses didn't come true now due to the lack of first party, I still think many of them are still fairly likely within the next few months.
    I was completely correct about Sillsong not being mentioned.

    I really think there will at least be a mini direct in September (my bet is September 17th) will be showing off more NSO games and online features for upcoming releases. (September is NSO renewal month)
    Maybe Metroid Prime 2 remaster? With the multiplayer mode included?

    I might be lost on something, but I really personally feel that Mario & Luigi Brothership is enough for November. I don’t fully understand the recurring assertion that not having a whole full price release a mere one week after is suddenly this earth-shattering gap in Nintendo’s schedule aside from it just having usually been on that week. It’s also possible Nintendo is counting on Dragon Quest to drive sales that month in Japan

    • @nintendoforecast
      @nintendoforecast  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's more that it's unique (in recent years) to leave a 2-week gap before Thanksgiving week so if there were another game, it's the likeliest slot.

  • @cutecharacterpower
    @cutecharacterpower 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Now I am thinking a Reveal of the Switch Successor in November is likely. I noticed a few 3rd party games were set to have a physical release in november, as if they were filling the gap.
    That is, if it's not announced in september

    Most are expecting switch 2 console unveil trailer in September but I say otherwise.
    A very likely mini direct (Nintendo doesn’t do the obvious) is happening in the middle of next month. There are still amount of games yet to be announced for FY24 (March 31, 2025).
    - 2D Kirby game (likely a Wii U port)
    - Fire Emblem Holy War remake (IS announce their games at least six months in between games)
    - Mario baseball (not sure if Bandai is working)
    - Level 5 games (Professor Layton, for example)
    - Bravely Default 1 remastered (BD2 is on the switch but not BD1)
    - Call of Duty (learned shortly that Xbox is saving it for their show before shadowdrop announcement for switch)
    - Virtual Boy to NSO (NSO is expiring in the coming weeks fyi)
    - Kid Icarus Uprising HD
    A 20 minute video can happen for those titles being saved later on for 2025 releases.

      Any chance for Xenoblade Chronicles X port to be worked on? That game during the WiiU era was used as a symbol of the power of the console in managing its large world. Wonder if maybe they would save it for the switch 2 to demonstrate a similar purpose. Fe4 also has that potential with how big the maps are.

      Makes sense, but why would that be worth pushing multiple presentations forward to clear the space around it? They like to spread out large announcements and presentations. Also, Tokyo games show is coming up at the end of September, and that may help advertize games coming to it.
