DIY TIP --- Mix a tablespoon of 2 of liquid fabric softener with water in the empty wrinkle release bottle to recycle. Shake well and you have your own homemade wrinkle release. For mere pennies and in any fragrance you like in about a minute you have the same thing.

I've got a mackerel tabby called Wibbles. They are sweet, funny, entertaining, and incredibly affectionate. He's also really noisy when he wants food, playtime, or cuddles.

Omg! That wall!!! You must have gotten such a shock! Hopefully this will be the end of all the damp problems, your builders are doing a brilliant job. Poor little cats, but they'll soon be doing 'zoomies' around the house x❤🇮🇪

Happy Sunday Mr C. Doing any renovations on an old building can be horrific. A few years ago I laid a new floor when the old floor was pulled up the builders discovered what they thought was rising damp! I had to have a damp survey, thankfully it wasn't rising damp, but I did have to put a new membrane in - which meant more money spent. I wanted to name that house "The Money Pit"
Sympathies Mr C, with the renovation work. Nothing ever goes smoothly where property is concerned!
We are in middle of renovating our kitchen. Dodgy electrics and plumbing, and finding we needed the whole room replastered has meant we’re into week 4 now!
Just telling ourselves it will be worth it in the end!

Hello Mr Carrington! So funny to see Mittens bathing herself and suddenly stopping when you applied the face mist. Seems to be thinking "what is the hooman up to now" Having renovations with pets, specially cats its a bit stressful not only to them. They hear people wondering around their house and aren't allowed to go and investigate, Pumpkin in trying to tell you, 😂. A paper bag is always a good entertainment for cats.
I hope that now that the problematic spot has been spotted, they can seal real well the wall and you can end up with all that headache.

Old properties have some scary hidden bits once you remove rendering or flooring etc. But there's nothing that can't be sorted. One day soon you will be able to relax when you have it the way you want xxx

All looks lovely, you are really getting on with everything so well. I’ve got a little suggestion for the thrifted curtain, instead of cutting it shorter, how about folding it in 1/2 and attaching the bottom of the curtain to the top of the curtain (by doing a running stitch or similar along the top), that way - 1) it will be thicker for privacy and warmth, 2) if you decide the curtain isn’t right for that window you still have the full curtain to use somewhere else or 3) you can resell to someone else to love and you can put the money towards another window dressing. Hope the kittens loved their escape when you finally opened the door! ❤ 🐈 🐈
Omg Iwan that wall looked terrible your so calm, we’re renovating my late dads bungalow and adding extension(downsizing from 4 bedroomed family home) and the stress !!! Trying to choose new doors, paint, bathroom cabinets on top of building regs n British weather!!!! shouldn’t moan though compared to what other people are going through in this unsafe world it’s nothing and means to an end. Pumpkin and Mittens are so funny such good company we had 5 cats and a dog but all passed now n we decided no more 🤔 will see lol !!!
Phew! That wall did look a bit dodgy! But, as you say, an old house, it’s been facing the weather for a long time. Hope the leak is finally sorted and you can “start to finish” your kitchen. Thanks Mr C; another good video with glimpses of caged felines.
At least that wall is getting sorted... there's always jobs to do in an old property...love those flower prints..think they'll look really nice in the bathroom along with the live plants....your cats are so funny..my cat Dusty loves bags and boxes too..even if the box is very small..she'll manage to get in it..even if it's a case of two paws !! ☘️😸
Good morning Iwan yeah the things you find in old buildings people like to think everything was better back then but having worked with my husband when he needed a builders mate I've seen enough Friday builds.
The roof of my building was ripped off in Storm Eunice two years ago.. we had scaffolding covering the back for 3months.. my cats loved using it as a massive climbing frame.. Pumpkin-cat in the bag has to be one of the funniest things..
Wow! that wall has certainly turned into a job, but it's a good thing to do a complete repair. It will prevent a lot of issues in the future.
Never know what is under the rendering. At least you found it now before you finished the kitchen. Looking forward to your vlog with Luke. Pumpkin is funny in the Primark bag xx
Hilarious 😂 watching the cat yoga. I love it when they can just lift the leg up like that. Sympathies with the renovation work. You will get there eventually. Keep being positive. Our ceiling fell down in the kitchen. We had to have a new stud wall and plastering.. we thought we may as well have the kitchen refitted whilst we were at it due to the water damage. Three weeks later, water was coming down the walls from the bathroom above. I can totally empathise. I hate water leaks and all the damage it can do.❤

Just had back of my house re rendered. The scaffolding was up forever as the rain kept stopping play. Oh the joy when it's finished! xx

I feel your pain Mr C.
I have a 17th century cottage and every time I have something done, more building and plumbing nightmare finds.
But to be fair it's more modern repairs that are bodged. However even with all the surprises, I could never swap my cottage for a new property, it has so much character. And it will still be here when these new houses are crumbling lol.
Keep smiling it will be worth it.

the mesh allows also for expansion the first coat needs to be rough as a key for the top coat it'll be ansome when its finished snd a bit of piece of mind for you ❤❤❤❤xxx

Do you think getting advice from a structural engineer may be useful, would cost but you would have a definitive answer to the roof and other problems? You so deserve 100k subs, in fact way more.

I was wondering how much you paid for the work on the wall? One set price or by the hour? Do they guarantee their work? Have a great week ahead and please keep us posted on the en suite bathroom work. The art is very nice and should be hung where they can be viewed. Not in the loo! They're too large for the space, l think.

What about some guttering on that side of the building to catch any water coming off the roof garden? Is that an option?
Yes have considered that. The water from the roof garden goes out through a gutter, it’s the water from the stones that goes down the wall - hopefully the groove in the stone will sort it
@@MrCarrington Fingers crossed! Water ingress is a complete pain. We had our chimney completely rebuilt due to a leak. Then it came back! 🤦♀️
Good to see you again. I too am dealing with outside cracks in my home . In the US we have Downey wrinkle release and it smells amazing too. I love using it. In my last home I used the cushion trick on a sofa we got from a neighbor. I was able to find a long cushion that matched the existing fabric, which was a huge bit of luck .
My friend recommended Goldefry gravy granules here in Mallorca. They were so much more reasonable in price than bisto. I am now totally converted to golden fry beef and the chicken one's. Really good. Have a fab afternoon love. Debra in Mallorcaxxx

Hi Iwan, I used to buy "Crease Release" a lot but I now use the empty bottles and mix some of my favourite fabric conditioner (1 part conditioner to 5 parts water) you can add more or less conditioner if you want a more intense scent and it does exactly the same thing at a fraction of the price. Bargain!😊

Wow that brick wall needed tuck pointing badly. Good to have it repaired. Great job looks expensive. Old houses need expensive work. My home in 🇺🇸is 114 yrs old. Lots of nooks and crannies to repair and update.🤗❤

If it ain't one thing, it's another! That's how it always seems when doing work on a house. We had scaffolding up at the front and back of our old house when we had all the paint removed from the brickwork, and then it had to be all repointed! We enjoyed the views from up there though, and took some great photos of the views! Don't blame you for enjoying a glass of vino in the sun on yours! Thanks Iwan!

Hi Iwan, eucalyptus, especially the oil, is very toxic for cats. Many essential oils are bad to use around cats, but eucalyptus is perhaps the worst. Good thing you are having the cracks repaired. I love how you made the best of it sunbathing on the scaffolding. Might be a good place for a small balcony if that’s ever a possibility in the future.

On my hubby’s birthday, of all days, we discovered heavy rain (presumably 🤔) had caused the retaining wall that holds up our entire garden had collapsed partially in one corner! Oh the panic!! A million trips to assorted DIY stores ensued and, after 10 bags of structural grade concrete, we’d rebuilt it ourselves! It’s not pretty but it is solid and it’s held up for 4 months so far!!! 😬🤞🏻

We bought a 80s original house last summer, and during one of the heavy rains a few weeks back we got a nice leak. Just where the warm water and heating system is sitting in the garage, guessing the connection between the house and garage isn't 100% waterproof anymore. And our upstairs window have taken some damage so need to fix them also..
Buy a house, have projects for a lifetime!

Hi Iwan, wow! that wall could have caused so many more much bigger problems, good job you have managed to get it done sooner rather than later. We had scaffolding all round our house when we moved in. My cat loved it! I'd open the curtains and there he would be staring at me through my bedroom window on the first floor! My son taught him how to climb a ladder and he was rather good at it too! I love how you are managing to remain upbeat about it all, keep that up, otherwise you might go insane! I feel for you can't be easy having builder's back, i have a building project going on around where i live and won't be finished till 2026. I love my outside space, but the noise is driving me bonkers, hopefully it won't be too long for you. Best wishes 😊

I still think you need a soffit or eaves trough on an incline to carry the water away from the SIde of the building so the new plastering or concrete won’t crack especially with the winter thaw of ice & snow and heavy spring rains. Just an idea.
